@@TheHilltopPillbox I hear that! Over the years I have made plenty of tweaks and introduced a few new things, if you ever want to collaborate again, I still believe you have my number but we can perhaps make a volume 2!
RE cold war, China's major IC should be in Kweichow and there should be a minor IC in Manchuria, as that would be a more accurate historical representation, but hopefully by now the person behind it has made such changes
Also would be cool if nationalist China/Taiwan was a separate nation, this because any Chinese territories taken by NATO countries would be handed over to them, so having them would add some nice flavour
@@danielbogomyagkov9217 Yes, that was mentioned early on, but for playability, I think RM went with a fully Chinese China. As far as the set up goes, there have been a lot of changes here and there, but contact Red Martian and he should be able to set you up!
So I have had an idea for a while for a Cold-Cold war game. (Set in 1954 post Korean Cease Fire). The Factions would be as follows: [United Nations] USA, UK Commonwealth, France (Minor Power NATO) (Minor Power SEATO) [Communist Bloc] USSR, China (Minor Power COMINTERN) The factions would start neutral with eachother. However, around the map in hotspot areas, there would be forces from multiple factions. Lets use West Indies as an example. It would contain 4 COMINTERN infantry and one Artillery, 2 NATO infantry, and 1 NEUTRAL infantry. During their turn, in hotspots, powers can pay (3IPCs) to convert NEUTRAL infantry into either NATO/SEATO or COMINTERN infantry. When no Neutral infantry remain, the forces fight for control of the territory, the winner is then friendly to its major power faction. Major powers can also instead send FOREIGN AID to those countries, buying them combat units at their normal price PLUS the printed IPC value of that territory. The foreign aid is placed as minor power units, and this can be done before or after the country has had all its NEUTRAL infantry removed. Lets use India as another example. It would start with 10 Neutral infantry, 2 SEATO infantry and 2 COMINTERN infantry. If the Soviets attack India conventionally, the COMINTERN units fight with them as attackers, but the SEATO and NEUTRAL units resist the attack. A country like Spain would contain 4 NATO infantry and 2 NEUTRAL infantry. It is tilted toward officially joining NATO. Yugoslavia would be the opposite. Not part of the Communist Bloc yet, but tilted toward it. If an area contains only NATO/SEATO or COMINTERN units it is friendly to it's major power patrons and during its collect income phase will donate it's IPCs to a major faction. These minor powers have no capital. Areas like Germany might be co-occupied by USSR and UN forces, while Korea is a powderkeg, with many COMINTERN and SEATO units there, and a small contengent of NEUTRAL units as a placeholder representing the ceasefire. Before open hostilites, the UN economies are reduced to 50% to represent their commitment to their civilian economies. If the war devolves into open hostilities, then victory conditions change. Before the war goes hot, UN victory is achieved if UN forces occupy all strategic trade routes (Gibraltar, Suez Canal, Straight of Hormuz, Malacca Straight, Panama Canal, Denmark Leeds) Polar movement is available for air units. Major Powers start with, Heavy Bombers, Jets, and Long Range aircraft techs. Nuclear bombs are 10 IPCs, and cause 1 die of PERMANENT damage to a facility. Rockets Tech now has a range of 4 and Rockets can carry a nuclear warhead. Super Subs gain the ability to launch Rocket Strikes.
Hey Pandapeo, thanks for commenting! The past few months have been very busy on a personal and professional level, and RUclips has to take a back seat sometimes. I did have a game of Anniversary lined up last weekend, but the players didn't show up, and I didn't think my subs would like to watch a solo game. I hope to upload something new this week - fingers crossed!

I've been to those Aleutian Islands and toured the pillboxes there. It would have been a hellscape battleground. As an American, thank you for mentioning our pre-War isolationism. When the some in the world complain of "American Imperialism" most of U.S. shrug and think, "Well, those idiots woke a sleeping giant."
War changes a great many things... America saw vast market opportunities after the war and moved quickly to become an economic giant in the decade after WW2. And most 'free' countries were happy for the help!
Hi Hilltop! It was nice to see the end of that G40 game once again; it needed closure. And I agree; the key was the team effort style of communication and playing. It was great! LOL @ “If you ain’t Dutch you ain’t much” 🤣
The Hilltop Pillbox; I like Star Wars, but am more of a Trekkie guy myself. 🖖🏾. A lot of Canadian forces were in the low lands during the liberation. A lot of young Dutch women excited about the liberators lead to some immigration I guess 😅
Nukes and economy are what's gonna matter in this era. Mother Russia didn't pop her cherry bomb until '49, and was substantially behind during the '50s. A lotta Soviet land units would need to be kept in a "pacification" role for dealing with partisans and a hungry, angry populace in the Eastern Bloc and wouldn't have been able to participate abroad. Until the widespread implementation of the AK-47 and the Mig-15 in the mid-to-late '50s the Red Army was kinda behind the West in conventional warfare technology, particularly air power. Also, Moscow and Beijing didn't always see eye to eye, and honestly held their own national interests over any of the Globalist propaganda they spout, so U.S.S.R. and China shouldn't be the same power. Also, Batista wasn't overthrown until '59 so I dunno what all those commies are doing in Cuba. I think the best way to play the Cold War is with the remains of a WWII game. It gets rid of the historical accuracy headache and it's also cool for continuity's sake as far as economy, tech, units remaining, etc, and to see how an alternate WWII timeline that you've played out continues into the Cold War. Cheers!🍻
I can't speak fully for Jay, but I think he saw an opportunity for some fun setup options, hence the Commies in Cuba. Having enemies closer together where they are traditionally far apart does add a bit of tension right off the bat! And, if he went with historical accuracy, Canada would have a much larger military force than is shown in the setup. Although it had diminished from 1945 levels, as all powers had, Canada still had a strong air force and navy, and the army was rather large, especially after Korea. (Canada even had an aircraft carrier!)
Don't include me in the Axis deciding to call it quits, for the second game in a row I was doing great+never consulted in the decision of a surrender for both games! If the Germans defeated Moscow, the Axis stood a fairly good chance of victory! Liked the Cold war set up, DUTCH Landcaster would be proud of this one! Have issues with China having Hong Kong but especially having a BATTLESHIP- if I saw it correctly, veeerry unrealistic teacher! Anyway it was a pleasure warring against you GODFATHER!!!
No comment on the surrender - but I think the bell was tolling for thee... As far as the Chinese BB goes, I think this is where the "playability" trumped the "historicity" for game purposes. Otherwise, the Chinese fleet would be an automatic kill, and then there is no chance to stop the "West" on the Pacific side. Jay has play tested this game a few times, and he says it seems pretty balanced. I haven't had the pleasure, but hopefully not too long from now...

Exactly! Look how high Germany and Japan's GDP is now. If we were the "evil empire" some people make U.S. out to be, we would have just let them rot.
Some people are just contrary by nature. If they aren't successful, then anyone who is must have done it illegally or immorally.
