Hello, A&A Nerd! It is a fantastic game, for sure! I highly recommend it. It does cost a bit, but the many, many hours of enjoyment for you and your group makes it well worth the investment! Thanks for watching and commenting!
@@mgeurts1945 I like to break down big purchases by a "cost per use" basis. So, if I spend, say, $300 on the big map with a bunch of neato markers and units, and then play the game once with 5 friends, that's six people playing the game for 12 hours (1936) which is 72 hours of enjoyment. That equals about $4/hr, and that's with ONE game. My 1939 map is at an approximate cost of 25 cents per hour...which is WELL worth the cost! If you have a solid gamer group who like these sorts of games, I say "Go for it!"
Hey there, Enderman! Life is good. Did you miss last week's video? Or are you just talking about game play vids? I did release an A&A Zombies game a couple weeks ago. I hope to get a really good one over the Christmas break. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Hello Al, they used to sell a package of units required for 1939, but it ran about $160, and no one was buying it because most people interested in the game would already have a good supply of units, and would only be looking to add a few special pieces here and there. Also, to sell the big map with all the units would probably cost over $350, and that would scare off most folks. "Start with the map and any A&A pieces you have, and add as needed" seems to be the direction they are taking. Thanks for commenting!
Did you ever find out where the fixed rules were? After 200 hours of rule ambiguities we gave up. I can’t believe we liked it so much with so many unclear rules.
The Hilltop Pillbox Thanks for the reply. The 7.2 is still a bit ambiguous in places but we had to quit playing because the Axis couldn’t lose. Probably 5-10 games in a row.
Welcome to the channel, Brian! You can pick up the map here: www.historicalboardgaming.com/Global-War-1939-Axis-Allies-Variant-Map-Revised_p_362.html The units and markers that I use in this video are mostly from old Axis and Allies games, but some HBG pieces. We are also working on a revised edition of the rules, but the base set is pretty good!
Hello Iron Gecko, yes, someday I will...not sure when, though! I sent back the pieces and units after the play test was done, but I hope to purchase a copy when it is released next spring. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Hello Jayden, those neato Canadian pieces are from the old, old game "World At War". VERY expensive game that was pretty good for its time (a sort of variation on A&A). I scooped a few armies from that one!
After Paris falls, you roll a d12 for every French territory. A result of 1-6 gives you a Vichy territory, and 7-12 is Free French. If Marseilles goes Free French, the Germans tend to crush it the next round anyways. Remember: if Germany saves 5 IPP's and rolls Vichy for Marseilles, they can purchase two infantry and one tank for that 5 IPP! Great deal!
Historical Board Gaming! You purchase the map and download the rules. The pieces are up to you. You can use A&A pieces to start, then build up your collection as time goes on. (That's what everyone does!!) HBG has all the units and markers needed. Here's a link to the map. www.historicalboardgaming.com/Global-War-1939-Axis-Allies-Variant-Map-35x72_p_362.html Happy hunting!
I’ve played this game a couple times and it seems to me the axis have very little chance .. how often in your games do you find the allies beating axis?
Hey there, John, I hope to get into it in the future! I wasn't part of that play testing, unfortunately. I focused on the Meltdown 2025. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Intro is fire! I’ve been thinking on getting Global War game but I can’t decide between 1939 or 1936. I have done plenty of research but my friend group is split, any pointers?
Hello, Axis and Alloys, I think there are some crucial points to consider when choosing between the two: 1939 will typically take less time, and requires less units, and requires fewer trips to the rule book, while 1936 typically takes more than one day to play properly (full game), there is a plethora of units and markers needed, and there is a much larger and more in-depth rules set. So, if you want a more immersive experience that can span a couple of days (or more), go with 1936. If you want to set up and get rolling, 1939 is your game! I hope that helps!
Hello Derek, both games are found at HistoricalBoardGaming.com The main difference is depth of play. 1939 is more for those who want simple military and economic decisions, while 1936-45 goes much further into the political realm, which can affect a great many things. 1939 is closer to A&A in mechanics, while 1936 could be its own entity. Thanks for watching and commenting!
you can buy 1939 on HBG just search up global war 1939 and click the second link. the difference between the two are complexity, time and amount of units
Oh yes oh YES Hilltop! This is arguably your most popular game to do videos on, and my personal favorite. What a treat.
Hello Gudes, thanks for the note! I hope you enjoy it!
Love the New Intro!
The map for this game looks awesome!

Thanks! I was wondering if 1939 (or 1936) was worth the investment.

I did watch last week's video, but I didn't watch all of it because I don't have any money to bid on the map 😅
@@enderman103 Ah, I see! Well, thanks for watching the other vids!
Great video 1939 is probably my favorite one. Have you ever thought of doing global 40 but with the 42 setup?
Hello Thomas, I will certainly run that past the boys the next time we get the G40 on the table! Thanks for watching and commenting!
Why dont they make a box with everything and sell it commercially? Thank you

Where did you get the canadian colored pieces

Does marsielles always become vichy? Very connfused

In global 39, does the -1 and +1 advantage of bunkers stay during the entire battle or also just the first round of combat like the 2 dice on 5?
Any bonuses/detriments are only in the first round of combat. Have fun!
