I was fifteen when I first started practicing yoga with Adriene and I was so depressed and down but now I am 17 and I have lost 78 pounds thanks to Adriene and carving out time for myself and good habits. I love practicing with you and all of this community. Namaste! 🌺

I felt this practice was a lovely way to reconnect with my inner-teen, and remind myself of the valuable insight Adriene mentioned here: strong can also mean centred, at peace, balanced. As appose to outwardly aggressive and angry. It would have been lovely to have known about yoga when I was a teenager, but it is NEVER too late to practise!! I started practising when I was 26/27 and I am now 31 - best thing I chose to do with myself was to just start!
Absolutely brilliant yoga practice, thank you Adriene. I'm loving this months yoga calendar "ATTRACT," It's really awesome. I love doing tree pose, and seeing how much I've grown in it(and yes, that pun is intentional) I used to be really wobbly, but now I stand tall like a tree. And for the first time ever, I hopped my feet back in plank. I've never been able to do that before, it felt so good. I definitely have more confidence, since doing yoga with you. Children need this little ditty more than ever. We are in a stage 4 lock-down in Melbourne, Australia, and children are remoting learning at home for what looks like the entirety of term 3. Kids are miserable, angry, emotional, and spending the entire day in front of a screen. It's a tough gig, people have lost employment, they are in charge of homeschooling, family violence is on the rise and people are still refusing to follow health warmings and spreading the Covid-19 virus. I Have only watched two videos and yet I have SO much to say. Yoga usually makes me feel stressed out. I constantly hear instructors in videos/classes say things like "if you can" or "if your a little more advanced" which (although not intentional on their part) drives up my naturally competitive spirit. I think to myself "OH so YOU think I can't do this just because I'm a BEGINNER?! I'll show you!". Then when I inevitably either fall, hurt myself, or get frustrated and forget to breath, I then get mad at myself for not being good enough at something I rarely ever do. I proceed to give up. Then the cycle repeats. I kept thinking "How does anyone find this relaxing?". But your videos have helped me realize that falling in yoga is okay. No, really. Your not a failure.The point isn't to be strong, it is to get stronger. Your not supposed to compete with yourself, the instructor, or others. Yoga is not a competitive sport. Which, would seem obvious lol. Apparently not to me. Anyway, Thank you for making easy to follow, straight forward videos that rarely say things such as "if you are flexible enough" but instead say things such as "If you feel comfortable doing so today". Reminding me that I can always try again tomorrow. Rome was not built in a day! You have a new subscriber.

Hit snooze for two hours this morning, so I feel like I was in the proper teen mindset for this. Got a very good locked in foot-leg connection for the right foot up tree pose, and a decent one for the left. Part of the challenge I have with that side is just anatomical - one leg is just bent a little funkily. Still, solid way to end the day. Day 527 of the current run.
What a sweet practice for our Sunday morning ? A little bit of core, a little bit of flow, some grace in warrior 2 and some discipline in our balancing. After two and a half years with you Adriene, I am still learning and my balance improves with breath and focus. CREATIVITY tomorrow, Yoga for Migraines, always useful for those who suffer. This video marks my return to YWA after 10 days. These past few days, I was attempting to resume Shambhavi Mahamudra, an Isha Yoga practice from Sadguru. Coming back here was like coming home. What I learnt here was the focus on my breath and that made a big difference while meditating as well. Thank you Adriene. Namaste
I'm nine-TEEN so I guess I still count. Also, while doing yogi bicycles, I hit my dog on the head with my elbow, and he left. I'm still sorry. He's still upset.
Today is 135 consecutive days of doing YWA. Also I've been awake since 4am because I needed to take my mom for an outpatient procedure. There was no time to do yoga before leaving. So once mom was settled into the pre-op area I went to the hospital chapel to to this practice and get my daily dose of yoga. It was a little challenging because a few people were coming and going during my practice, but I tried to remind myself that the moving meditation of yoga isn't "less than" the still meditation and prayers others were doing. I had my wireless earbuds in and was trying to do it in an unobtrusive spot in the room. Also had to be flexible because I thought the chapel would be carpeted and left my mat at home. The room had laminate flooring, so an interesting exercise in being mentally flexible and finding a way to get my daily yoga done. Reset - September 2021

Hello! I've just done this today, at 51 years old, and dedicated it to the teen versions of myself.... Gosh, I wish she had known Adriene back then....! So many body image issues....! I enveloped the teen me with so much love and kindness, and assured her that she is evolving beautifully....!!! And now I'm picturing a very healthy and toned and flexible 90-yr old version of myself hugging me and smiling at all of our versions with wisdom and love...!! Ah....!!!!
Not a teen but I have been doing yoga since lockdown basically started for us back in March. Haven't missed any days and have a lot on my mind recently. Thank you for creating a safe space where I am free to let go all of my worries and stresses and just focus on myself. Adriene (and Benji) are my greatest blessing of 2020. ❤️

So excited. After many many months of practice, today I managed a tree pose with my leg at the top of my leg (without instantly wobbling over). Still more to do before I can raise my arms but I feel so happy to have reached this point!
Bicycles aside, that felt good, and released some eye strain and tension in the head from a long week of reading essays and grading. Reset day 9. 340 days in a row.
I have also managed to do yoga everyday this year and just wanted to say whenever I see your comments under a video, it makes happy knowing others are on this journey with me. I hope you have a great school year!
I can see that I'm becoming more balanced. Today, for the first time since I've started yoga, I didn't fall while in tree pose on either side! That's a big thing to me. Thank you Adriene! 💙
Dear Adriene When I started yoga a number of years ago, this was one of my first (if not the first) yoga practice I ever did. Tomorrow, I turn 20, and though I have done this practice many a time, I would like to thank you for all the times I could do this as a teen 💕
By the end of this, I will admit, I had a few happy little tears. I've dealt with chronic pain for a long time now, and for once i felt capable, strong, and empowered. understandable but yoga is amazing... especially compared to "run for 30 minutes, take a water break of your own tears and then run for an hour more with 1 one minute per mile pace"
The more you do it the better it gets. I do work out every day as an athlete, but I hated the beginning. It is so rewarding if you just stick with it. Wishing you the best.

Thank you, I am on my third video of yours and it is really helping my when I have bad anxiety days or major depressive days. I'm trying to do it every three days. My favourite is when we whisper 'I am strong' because it reminds me that there are so many different ways to be the best version of myself that I can be in this moment.
I was introduced to yoga by a gym teacher when I was a junior in high school. Right from the beginning, I connected with it. Even with how little I knew and how unrefined my practice was, I got a taste of the magic. Seven years and many Yoga With Adriene videos later, I am an entirely different yogi. This video reminded me of how yoga felt to me as a teen and how it helped me navigate troubled waters (then and now). Thank you Adriene for the journey that you guide me through all the time. Finally syncing up with the thought process that the practice teaches us what we need to learn in life. I don't balance well, I feel weak and I tell myself I can't do certain things. Enough! I come back every day because I'm strong. I try to balance, and when I fail I try again. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't... That's life. And it's here on my mat with me!
Just turned 20 last week. Even tho I was considered a legal adult since 18 where I live, I'm now actually feeling like getting close to adulthood.As I get older, I notice how a lot of times you stay on your safe spots, because you get afraid to fail, to be judged; other adults even tell you to not get THAT adventurous. Last night I had a nightmare about one of my deepest fears which is failing and not being enough. Today, with this practice, I remind myself about this teenage dreams, creativity and enthusiasm, this feeling about being successful in the future and not letting snitching stop you. For Day 11 of EMBRACE, it was good to get back to the calendar today. I really enjoyed this teen practice, it was just perfect for this senior yogi ! It loosened me up, it strengthened my back and just generally made me feel good. You were right Adriene, this practice for Day 28 of Shift is good for all ages. This senior yogi sharing with the teens was fun and 20 mins was just right for a short and beneficial workout. Thank you. I am a teen in my heart. I have never had a teacher tell me in tree pose to push back with the rooted leg for balance. That helped me a great deal. And since I am home, I was able to try it in shorts to find that I can place my foot above my knee and not have it slide down with my leggings 😂. Big learning day after years of yoga. I did yoga with you on and off for a year now. I started with a 30 days challenge and i didn't manage to finish it or keep it up... In January I made a commitment to true and actually finished that one but again couldn't keep up a really regular practice... But now since june 25 I've practiced yoga 5 days a week (with only minimal exceptions) and I'm so happy and thankful for your videos Adriene! They keep me grounded between loads of school work and instead of thinking that i don't have time for yoga, it's now a welcome break which helps me to keep going! I am currently struggling immensely with a variety of issues: I dislike myself, I can't seem to accept my body and the only thing that seems to ease it is restricting my food intake and losing weight; I even have moments or even days when I truly fear food. But your practices serve as a reminder that self care and self love should come first, that self compassion and forgiveness truly are essential. I intend to start doing yoga every day again instead of insisting with harsh workouts, I want to accept that "love yourself", "you're strong", "you're amazing" aren't just slogans and I hope to learn to love myself truly again, and I know your practices are a valuable tool. Thank you so much for this practice and for all the others. You truly are an inspiration. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
My daughter has severe anxiety and panic attacks. Just bought her a mat and having her practice yoga with me. This video may be a good first one for her to do for herself. It being "for teens" may encourage her. Thank you

I constantly hear instructors in videos/classes say things like "if you can" or "if your a little more advanced" which (although not intentional on their part) drives up my naturally competitive spirit. I think to myself "OH so YOU think I can't do this just because I'm a BEGINNER?! I'll show you!". Then when I inevitably either fall, hurt myself, or get frustrated and forget to breath, I then get mad at myself for not being good enough at something I rarely ever do. I proceed to give up. Then the cycle repeats. I kept thinking "How does anyone find this relaxing?". But your videos have helped me realize that falling in yoga is okay. No, really. Your not a failure.The point isn't to be strong, it is to get stronger. Your not supposed to compete with yourself, the instructor, or others. Yoga is not a competitive sport. Which, would seem obvious lol. Apparently not to me.
Anyway, Thank you for making easy to follow, straight forward videos that rarely say things such as "if you are flexible enough" but instead say things such as "If you feel comfortable doing so today". Reminding me that I can always try again tomorrow. Rome was not built in a day! You have a new subscriber.

Hit snooze for two hours this morning, so I feel like I was in the proper teen mindset for this. Got a very good locked in foot-leg connection for the right foot up tree pose, and a decent one for the left. Part of the challenge I have with that side is just anatomical - one leg is just bent a little funkily. Still, solid way to end the day. Day 527 of the current run.
What a sweet practice for our Sunday morning ? A little bit of core, a little bit of flow, some grace in warrior 2 and some discipline in our balancing. After two and a half years with you Adriene, I am still learning and my balance improves with breath and focus. CREATIVITY tomorrow, Yoga for Migraines, always useful for those who suffer. This video marks my return to YWA after 10 days. These past few days, I was attempting to resume Shambhavi Mahamudra, an Isha Yoga practice from Sadguru. Coming back here was like coming home. What I learnt here was the focus on my breath and that made a big difference while meditating as well. Thank you Adriene. Namaste

Shift, Day 28: I feel like I just had a shot of positivity. I wish someone had told me to slow down when I was a teenager, but better late than never.

Today is 135 consecutive days of doing YWA.
Also I've been awake since 4am because I needed to take my mom for an outpatient procedure. There was no time to do yoga before leaving. So once mom was settled into the pre-op area I went to the hospital chapel to to this practice and get my daily dose of yoga.
It was a little challenging because a few people were coming and going during my practice, but I tried to remind myself that the moving meditation of yoga isn't "less than" the still meditation and prayers others were doing. I had my wireless earbuds in and was trying to do it in an unobtrusive spot in the room. Also had to be flexible because I thought the chapel would be carpeted and left my mat at home. The room had laminate flooring, so an interesting exercise in being mentally flexible and finding a way to get my daily yoga done.

Hello! I've just done this today, at 51 years old, and dedicated it to the teen versions of myself.... Gosh, I wish she had known Adriene back then....! So many body image issues....! I enveloped the teen me with so much love and kindness, and assured her that she is evolving beautifully....!!! And now I'm picturing a very healthy and toned and flexible 90-yr old version of myself hugging me and smiling at all of our versions with wisdom and love...!! Ah....!!!!

Not a teen but I have been doing yoga since lockdown basically started for us back in March. Haven't missed any days and have a lot on my mind recently. When I started yoga a number of years ago, this was one of my first (if not the first) yoga practice I ever did. Tomorrow, I turn 20, and though I have done this practice many a time, I would like to thank you for all the times I could do this as a teen 💕
By the end of this, I will admit, I had a few happy little tears. I've dealt with chronic pain for a long time now, and for once i felt capable, strong, and empowered. Thank you to this lovely lady who has been helping me through all the worst, without even knowing it. You are a gift to many, thank you.

What I love about the monthly calendars: they get me to do practices I wouldn't normally choose, like Yoga for Teachers yesterday (that became an instant favourite) and this one today :)
Thank you, I am on my third video of yours and it is really helping my when I have bad anxiety days or major depressive days. I'm trying to do it every three days. My favourite is when we whisper 'I am strong' because it reminds me that there are so many different ways to be the best version of myself that I can be in this moment.
That was a really fun practice! Though, the Shift calendar led me to this video for teens on my 28th birthday, which feels...odd.
I was introduced to yoga by a gym teacher when I was a junior in high school. Right from the beginning, I connected with it. Even with how little I knew and how unrefined my practice was, I got a taste of the magic. Seven years and many Yoga With Adriene videos later, I am an entirely different yogi. This video reminded me of how yoga felt to me as a teen and how it helped me navigate troubled waters (then and now). Thank you Adriene for the journey that you guide me through all the time. I come back every day because I'm strong. I try to balance, and when I fail I try again. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't... That's life. And it's here on my mat with me!

Just turned 20 last week. Even tho I was considered a legal adult since 18 where I live, I'm now actually feeling like getting close to adulthood.As I get older, I notice how a lot of times you stay on your safe spots, because you get afraid to fail, to be judged; other adults even tell you to not get THAT adventurous. Last night I had a nightmare about one of my deepest fears which is failing and not being enough. Today, with this practice, I remind myself about this teenage dreams, creativity and enthusiasm, this feeling about being successful in the future and not letting snitching stop you. For Day 11 of EMBRACE, it was good to get back to the calendar today. I really enjoyed this teen practice, it was just perfect for this senior yogi ! It loosened me up, it strengthened my back and just generally made me feel good. You were right Adriene, this practice for Day 28 of Shift is good for all ages. This senior yogi sharing with the teens was fun and 20 mins was just right for a short and beneficial workout. Thank you. I am a teen in my heart. I have never had a teacher tell me in tree pose to push back with the rooted leg for balance. That helped me a great deal. And since I am home, I was able to try it in shorts to find that I can place my foot above my knee and not have it slide down with my leggings 😂. Big learning day after years of yoga. I did yoga with you on and off for a year now. I started with a 30 days challenge and i didn't manage to finish it or keep it up... In January I made a commitment to true and actually finished that one but again couldn't keep up a really regular practice... But now since june 25 I've practiced yoga 5 days a week (with only minimal exceptions) and I'm so happy and thankful for your videos Adriene! They keep me grounded between loads of school work and instead of thinking that i don't have time for yoga, it's now a welcome break which helps me to keep going! Thank you, Adriene. I feel renewed after this practice. I am currently struggling immensely with a variety of issues: I dislike myself, I can't seem to accept my body and the only thing that seems to ease it is restricting my food intake and losing weight; I even have moments or even days when I truly fear food.
But your practices serve as a reminder that self care and self love should come first, that self compassion and forgiveness truly are essential. I intend to start doing yoga every day again instead of insisting with harsh workouts, I want to accept that "love yourself", "you're strong", "you're amazing" aren't just slogans and I hope to learn to love myself truly again, and I know your practices are a valuable tool.
Thank you so much for this practice and for all the others. You truly are an inspiration. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
