- Haywoode (Sidney) is a UK artist: She used two stage names: "Haywoode" and "Sid Haywoode".
She was signed by CBS in 1983 and released her first single "A Time Like This" (reached the Top 5 Dance and Top 50 Pop UK charts). She worked with the famous songwriters and producers Mike Stock, Matt Aitken and Pete Waterman known as Stock Aitken Waterman and released two singles with them : "You'd Better Not Fool Around" and "Getting Closer". Her biggest success was the single "Roses" that gave her 11 place in UK top in 1986.
I heard this song on a ghetto blaster on the New York subway way back when it came out in 1983. I asked the bloke with the ghetto blaster who the song was by was and I have loved it ever since. Gawd that was a lifetime ago now, but the song is as fresh as ever. I love it and I loved my holiday in NYC too.
Haywoode was a UK artist. This song was never released in the US.

I remember going to a funk review at the Hammersmith Odeon with Tom Browne headlining and she was one of the artists performing this song and she just started the first verse and she fell down off the stage and into the band pit total wipe out never mind Tom Browne was excellent still a great gig

Tive a sorte de ter um vizinho, ele tinha por volta de 40 anos, que escutava essa música e dentre outras durante as tardes de sábado. Por causa desse cara que meu gosto musical sempre volta aqui.
