  • It was a stress filled day in the shop while working on the Cadillac SRX timing chains. I broken a camshaft cap bolt, but got it out using a left hand drill bit.

Good job! I stay away from engines with chains and guides but its looking like thats all they make these days. I think most shops stay away from these type of snowball crap shows. Even trying to get a good used engine is a nightmare not worth the hassle cept for maybe doing it on your own vehicle if you have the capability .

Thanks! Yes, these chain setups are a real pain, and can turn very ugly in a short time.

Hello Alvin. You sure lucked out! Did you buy a loto ticket after that?
On that chain guide, did the plastic pieces end up in the oil pan? Hope not.
    That's the biggest smile ever!

      Hey George,
I have to say, it was a much better day after getting the broken bolt out! 😄
The guide did go into the pan, I managed to get most of it out, there are a couple of small pieces unaccounted for. I can't see anymore with my bore scope, so I guess it is what it is now. 😎
