    Would you say the wet performance is acceptable when driving like a sane person?

    • @silverback2102

      BrentsTech absolutely. I was surprised at the wet traction they provide. I thought there would be some hydroplane, but they have definitely surprised me. Good question.

      Awesome, thanks for the quick response! I have a 6MT CTS-V coupe and have been trying to decide between these and MPSS. Currently I have some Firestone Firehawks (came with car) on it and 1st a 2nd gear are more than useless if it's less than 90 degrees outside. I'll give the NT05's a shot. Thanks :-)

    awesome, and I love the nt05's, I have an 86 z28 with an ls1 and t56 swap and a few upgrades here and there, I used to run Michelin pilot sports and I was disappointed with them, I spun the tires all the way through first and and most of second before I could get any kinda traction, then I went out and bought the nt05's, 275 35 18 front and 295 35 18 out back, and she hooks hard, she grabs so well, and don't even get me started on corners, there's allot of twisty roads around here and I hit speeds I shouldn't have on public streets (don't worry no one was around to get hurt but myself) and I was also worried about rain until I experienced about a week straight of rain with no issues from the tires, hands down the best tires I have personally ever used

    Great tire review. Pulling the trigger now on a set for my 2020 Charger Scat Pack. 255/45/R20 front. 275/40/R20 rear. I love the staggered look with lighter steering from slightly narrower front tire. Plus I'll never rotate front to back - due to burning out the rears.

    pZero's are a really good tire. They don't just throw them stock on lambos and Ferrari's for no reason. you gotta know how to use them. The Nittos are a good tire for a straight away however for a circuit you'd want pZero's or cup 2's

  • @joemarks3719

    Cool video. I have a 2012 2SS A6 that I have put a CAI, LT's, HF Cats, Flowmaster Outlaw, and a tune. I bought it used and it had Nitto Invo's on it which were fine for the stock setup. Now the tires spin like crazy in 1st, and in 2nd, and bark in 3rd and 4th. I'm on the fence between these and the 555R's. The NTO5 are about $100 cheaper, and I wonder if the 555R's will hook much better for the additional cost? The NT05R isn't much more then the 555R, tough decision!

    • @silverback2102

      My average tire wear is not going to be the same as a "normal sane person". This set of nt05s are wearing down pretty fast. Keep in mind that I drive my vehicles like there is a meth lab in the trunk and the Los Angeles Police Dept is chasing me down the highway. My average set of tires lasts about 5k miles. This includes High Speed Track Days. Thank you for watching the video!

  • @Standyourground21

    Great video and thanks for info I just purchased a pair. But you talk about road course and track. I bought NTO5 for the drag strip which they are made for. Maybe you should try the road course ones the NTO1.

    • @izaacify
      @izaacify 5 лет назад

      Negative ghost rider. They are not specific to drag. You might be confused with the drag radial NT05R. The 05 is dual purpose street strip. I went though one set already on my 600rwhp g8. I am conflicted on this tire. I could barely run sub 2 on the 60' of course I didn't heat them up. I am about to get another set but be warned... I maybe got 5k miles out of them and I need a new set. He said they are cheap but he must have more money than myself. 600 for 2 rear tires installed to me is expensive.

    • @jakepeterson3379
      @jakepeterson3379 4 года назад

      @@izaacify this is good to know, I have a hellcat charger and can hook with any street radial and get below 2 second 60 foot times. 2 3ish. That's starting in 2and gear and rolling on. If they wear that fast I might as well run a drag radial

    • @izaacify
      @izaacify 4 года назад +1

      @@jakepeterson3379 I may have got more maybe 7-8k but they are pretty soft. I ran a high 1.9s on cold tire prepped track in AZ. These will be much better on Street then drag tire and I heard any weather can be a big issue on drags. I myself am more street strip person and heavy foot so rubber goes fast.

    Don't mistake squealing as bad performance, all that matters is when they lose traction.
    But nice review, and can I confirm that when driving sensibly in the wet, you feel they are more than adequate...?

    • @silverback2102
      @silverback2102  7 лет назад +2

      Thank you for your comment and question. First let me address what I meant by tire squeal. I found the p-zero tire compound to be too hard. After a few laps around the track, I knew they had to go. The BF Goodrich g-Force was a good tire. They weren't as loud under normal circumstances, and on the track provided much better grip. The NT05 were exactly what I was looking for. A tire I could drive daily, and at the track would stick much better. After many chances in heavy rain, I can attest that you need not worry about wet traction. They perform on wet surfaces as well as the g-Force, and BETTER than the p-zero. I hope this info helps. Thank you for watching!

    Are you daily driving on these tires? And if so, how are they overall, as far as road noise and tread wear?

    • @silverback2102
      @silverback2102  7 лет назад +5

      This is my daily. I haven't noticed a difference in road noise (but I am running long-tube headers, no cats, cross-over pipe, and Flowmaster Super 10's). I really don't hear the tires. This is a softer tire and will wear faster than other long-life tires. I am seeing wear comparable to BF Goodrich gForce Sport Comp 2. (Keep in mind, I have put the same size wheel on all 4 corners, allowing me to rotate the tires. This has highly increased the tread life I see per set.) Hope this info helps. Thank you for the question!

      Thank you for your question and for watching the video. First, my experience is a little different due to how hard I punish my tires. I beat the hell out of them on the regular, so on average I really can't say how well these will wear for you and your driving style. With that out of the way, I can say they held up really well for me. I was going through 2 full sets (8) a summer on the BF Goodrich, and running my winter tires in the off season. The NT05s lasted much better. These would last me a season. That saved me some major $$. I hope this info helps.

    whats the tread life on these.

    • @silverback2102
      @silverback2102  7 лет назад +2

      Excellent question! As with all high performance tires, that will generally depend on the driver, and how they drive the vehicle. As I normally drive like a bat escaping from the pits of Hell, my tire mileage life really isn't even close to what they would be, let's say if Grandma Mabel had these on her 1992 Crown Victoria, and only drove 30 mph on the highway in the fast lane on her way to church. The nt05 are a softer compound tire, and give superb traction, but with this comes a tire that will not last as long as the Pirelli P-Zero, which in my humble opinion, is the equivalent of a Big Wheel plastic tire. I hope this helps.
