Street tire or Track tire, which tire is best for you? (Nitto NT555 G2 and Nitto NT01)

- If you're like us and you love to take your car to the track, deciding on which tire is right for you can be the hardest decision to make. There's a lot to consider to maximize your time at the track, faster lap times, tire life, brake life, engine temps, it all adds up.
We have teamed up with our friends at Speed Academy to break down how to pick the right tire for a track day. Is it worth it to go full R Compound / a lower treadwear rating track tire or is it worth it to stick to your street tires while you learn the limits of your car? We do the tire track testing so you don't have to.

Good review! It’s a make it or break it for me. I track my GT-R twice a year and also semi daily it to work. I am debating on using a street hard compound or stick to my R888R for what I use it for but I am ready to try something else out there. Thank you about how many laps before they become greasy on the G2’s. The NT01 on the other hand will be a good competitor from my R888R. I am ready to try it out 🤙🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼

What pressures are you running? I had a problem with my street tire wearing mostly on the edges.
How does a federal fz01 or Nanking ar1 compare to the nitro nt01? I’ve been using the nitto on my s2k for many years and grip and longevity are better than Toyo r888 I used before. I just wonder if being an older tyre another semi has surpassed it

Very informative video! Going to switch from NT555 G2's to NT01's on my C4 Corvette. It does pretty well at the track on these tires, but looking for something more.
nt555 are good rain tires
will those the nt555 g2 work for my 700 whp. mustang gt to drive on the road cause i have the nt01s on but need a street tire

I have the nt555g2s and they work well on the street. Smooth and quiet. Dont wear fast which is good. I like them.
I have terrible off the line traction on mine... :-/
what car you have the 555g2 on?
@@eatmoreeats9566 It's a 2.4l 98 Toyota Tacoma ext cab. 2x4. It's a little lowered on 18"x9" square advan wheels, 225 40 18 tires. The Nitto tires have been great.

Jennifer WhiteWolf are they any good? As in problems with wear or grip in the rain. Im split between nt05 and the nt01

I just ordered the NEO Gens instead of the NT555G2s... hopefully the NEO Gen are close to the NT555G2. Anyone know if it’s a big difference? I really hope not
Just a little update... I will only buy these tires from now on. The NEO GEN specially. I’ve had thousands of tires and none of them respond like these. It’s crazy how big of a difference it is. Literally night and day difference...I highly recommend
A A RON How do the Neo Gens perform under heavy rain? How is there treadlife at 280 UTQG? I'm considering getting the Neo Gens.
@@vanquishstorm3806 well I really love them. They look amazing but perform really really good for the price. The only one thing is, I live in Dallas, Tx and in this summer heat it really eats them up. In the rain, lol I purposely yanked my wheel on the high way left and right (very safe and controlled and I’m a really good driver) it never slid or skipped or even hydroplane unless it was flooded but normally don’t drive my car in flooded weather. The snow we got last year lol I was passing up everyone and driving normal. I did was better than any jeep, mud truck or suv…. Really good tires. It’s just the Texas heat eats them up. I’ve had them for over a year and a half now and tread is at 4-5 on all tires…

@@vanquishstorm3806 I ordered them from this discount tire co site. I just got the tires only and I had bought new xxr wheels and brought them up therre. No disposal fee, I added the warranty to the tires about two weeks after. I o my paid for the mounting. Cheaper that way. If I had the money to do it all together I would have. What I really wanted to do was save my neo Gen tires for next winter. Then by the NT555G2s for this summer but just had a lot that came up. I think running the NEO Gen during winter and raining seasons here in Dallas then the nt555g2 just for the summer. I will have to buy the neo Gen again or just the super pilot 4s From Michelin but it was pretty expensive.

Yes, as described in our video description we teamed up with speed academy to make this video for us. No driver battles were filmed that day and like previously stated that concept is still in the works.
