It isn't comforting to be a "futurist" unless you accept the rapture.. it is hardly comforting to see Revelation as still to come if you don't but John didn't write Revelation until well after Titus....

Although for many reasons, this alone isn’t enough to convince me. I’ve ask my futurist family and they point to this comment to support the position. Watch out for works based Christianity. Works follows repentance, not the other way around. The KJV has this doctrine of salvation and sanctification correctly rendered. Narrow is the way to salvation, not difficult, as the modern translations have it.

My understanding is that Vespasian assembled the Roman legions in the plain outside of Ptolemais on the edge of the Plain of Megiddo (Armageddon)-to march into Galilee. (Josephus Wars book 3)
Bruce, you play a music intro that sounds like you're going to tell a childtrens story tale and then you proceed to relate a fearsome account of dramatic history of God's judgement in really superb English prose and description. Excellent, frightening, but wonderful at the same time. Then close it again with a dainty little ditty. Maybe playing "Smoke on the Water" would be a more appropriate ending. Anyway thanks. I think the music is a bad decision. It is most likely something closely related to Mr Gore that he personally is fond of. Such things should not be forced onto others, in my opinion, because we dont have the same taste or interpretation. I am not so positive about forcing others to hear your prayers also. How about this "Lets all search our hearts for any unforgiven sin and ask for forgiveness in the name of Jesus and through his blood and ask for wisdom to correctly interpret the words [and then a quite moment]".

I do have one question: in what source do you find Vespasian’s engagement in the Judean theater starting from across the Euphrates? I’m only aware of his launching point from Ptolemais/Akko/Acre, together with Titus’ legions from Alexandria, at the beginning of the Galilean Campaign. Certainly “the north” is used by Daniel, Ezekiel, Jeremiah, and Isaiah as the place from which invading forces enter Judea to work God’s judgment, and crossing the Euphrates (as did the Babylonians) gives us that same imagery. I so appreciate your teaching!
If imprecatory prayers are no longer appropriate, then we can no longer sing many of the Psalms. It is good to hear Dr. Gore declaring that it is our duty to pray for judgment on criminal conspiracies such as the drug cartels and human trafficking. To that I would add the false churches and false religions that destroy men's souls. I pray for the destruction of the atheistic Chinese Communist Party, as well. God can do this by converting them or crushing them: it's up to him. We should concur with him in his judgments, as the angels and saints do in the book of Revelation.
Be careful what you wish for. God appoints rulers, do you want China to go back to being ruled by tribal warlords. How is the demise of communism in Russia going? Start at home pray for a wise US leader that will keep the dark forces of the US military, in the USA.

Thanks Bruce. Longtime listener and beneficiary of your teaching ministry. I may not be as committed to the preterest position as you, not because of its assertive claims for the first century historical fulfillment of Revelation prophesy (which I find credible), but because it, like the differing millenialist positions, often gets in the way of the Holy Spirits' primary purpose for wanting us to read this book. Namely to bring hope and encouragement to Christians of ALL generations. Therefore, application, much like the clear warnings to the churches in chapters 2 and 3, is what seems to me is the thing to be grasped. Unfortunately, this often becomes confusing in the mysterious drama revealed in subsequent chapters. So, If there was just one thing I might suggest in this study of the Book of Revelation, it would be for you to include more application in your otherwise excellent presentation. Blessings.

However, nothing is more important to solid biblical interpretation than understanding the original context in which a book was written-the author’s purpose for writing, current religious-social-political environment, the time, culture and language of the original audience, and so forth. Gordon Fee said it well: “Before we can get to the ‘here and now’ of the text we must first get to the ‘then and there of the context.” In other words, armed with the in-situ understanding of the “then and there” we can accurately convey its present application to our day. Bruce does an excellent job to doing this. And since you’ve been listening to his teaching for a while, you know he also wraps up each session with a “Sunday school lesson”-the practical application of the text just studied. Blessings, Jim!

A heifer giving birth makes her a cow (and disqualify her for somevif not all sacrificial purposes.) But the young would have to be a calf, not a lamb. I have a hard time believing that particular Josephus bit. Not because God couldn't, but it would be explicittly out of characzer, because in Genesis 1, later in the flood account and also in Levitcus He made clear statements about every creature staying in their lane of species.

On second thought, it is possible that through these primitive seven churches, God kept many thousands of people(christians) from returning to Jerusalem, when they saw the armies of Rome crossing the Euphrates river, for as you stated, some Joshua was already warning the Jews in Jerusalem at the about same time. Sir, I get into the understanding of the following relationship because it is written in the Bible. Why the eruption of la Palma volcano is happening at the same time we are in the kouvud crisis? Why? Because God wants us to be awake up and read the Revelation 9 : 1 - 11. Please read it and you will understand the following: Verse 2: The smoke from the pit is the kouvud. Why? Because both volcano smoke and kouvud harm the lung, then people need breathing mask, then the state puts in place the lockdown. The volcano smoke is covering the sky and hiding the sun light, so that the darkness is coming. It is the same for the kouvud, people get confused because of the spiritual darkness and not able to see the truth against the lie. Verse 3 « Then out of the smoke locusts came upon the earth. And to them was given power, as the scorpions of the earth have power. » = the locusts are the vaskun of kouvud . Notice that the locusts is coming out of the smoke, but not coming out of the pit, which means that the smoke is the source/origin of the locusts. Then the locusts came upon earth which is the worldwide vaskunation campaign in all countries. Verse 5: the sting in the tail of the locusts, like the tail of scorpion, is not killing people, but tormenting them for 5 months. Please look on internet what is the effect of the scorpion sting on human body. In majority, it will just cause big pain. For some people; it will cause temperature raising to 40 degree C, high blood pressure, cardiovascular disorders. For very very few people, it may cause death. So all these are the same as the effect of the kouvud vaskun. And 5/6 months is the duration of the power of the 1st and 2nd inj… Verse 7: the locusts are like horse prepared for battle, which means the vaskun is considered by the nations like a weapon to protect the country. Verse 7: The face of the locust is like the face of men, because in reality they are made by humans, the use of locust/scorpion is just a metaphor. Verse 8: the hair of the locust is like woman hair, because most of the nurses who give the sting are women, only very few are men. Verse 8: the teeth of the locust is like lion teeth, which means the locust have a mouth of a lion, which is used not for biting, but for speaking with the voice of a lion. Remember that the lion is the first beast of Daniel, which is the Babylon empire. So the mouth of lion here is the beast who promotes the vaskun, it is the mouth of the beast which speaks about the beauty of the vaskun. If I'm not mistaking it is Joseph that records that Titus received reinforcement troops from the Euphrates...but I would have to double check

The Christians left after a brief siege in 66 a.d., before the Zealots had seized control of the city. The story is reported by Eusebius.
