In this video we’re talking about tank mates for a parachromis Dovii! People think these fish cannot be kept with tank mates. In the 12yrs of keeping the Dovii, I have successfully kept the parachromis Dovii species with tank mates the entire time I’ve kept them! I’ve never been forced to keep them alone. The Buttikoferi and Midas cichlid are two fish that make great Dovii tank mates! The parachromis Dovii has a horrible reputation and I hope by the end of this video I convinced you that not only is the parachromis Dovii one of the baddest fish out there but it can have tank mates! In a pond it’s much different Vs a tank. Most people do not have the size tank to keep these fishes together.
I kept my Dovii in a tank with the same tank mates for years. I’ve only had them in a pond for a year.

Brother Cleveland. Been considering a Dovii for years but never had a big enough tank.
The largest tanks I have right now are a couple of 240's. Everything else ranges from 150's down to 55's.

One fish I had killed everything, including fish bigger than him, a Texas cichlid. Put a Jag in with him, he lasted about 13 hours and he had the Texas by about 3 inches
Texas cichlids are aggressive as well. I have a super red Texas at the moment.
I have a female Dovii and a Buttikoferi in one tank with a bunch of tropheus. I have a male Midas in another tank with some barbs. In my experience, from most aggressive to least aggressive:
Midas
Buttikoferi
Dovii
The Midas is about 14 inches long. No fish survives if put in there with him. Barbs pose zero threat, he leaves them alone.

I have 2 dovii/ red terror hybrids. Brought them when they were very small and their tank mates were 2 convicts, salvini,jag, 2 small straight dovii's and a red devil. The red devil got sick an died and then the salvini beccame tank boss. As the hybrids got bigger they eventually killed everybody and laid eggs.
My Dovii/Festae bred and I have a 225g full of hybrids. How big are yours now?
You are exactly like my wife and I. Read about it, they say don’t do it! Do you have any idea how many “don’t does” we have? Exactly like you said research and observe. I have community tanks that would make the aquarium community shutter, but it works and has worked. Good on you bro. Always looking forward to the next video. 🙏🏻

I want to do it dovii Cichlid, but I only got a 125 and that’s not big enough for it

I have a 18 inch Dovii in a 150 gallon all by himself and wouldn't attempt putting anything in there cause it would be lights out fairly quickly
You shouldn’t even have any 18in fish in a 150g especially a Dovii. No wonder he’s mad. Living in such a terribly small aquarium. You probably shouldn’t repeat that again man. That’s animal cruelty at its finest. Based on what you’ve just said, I know for certain you don’t know much about keeping Dovii. Like I said, watch some more videos, you’ll learn something.
True story I have two Dovii and a Reddevil two Jack Dempsey’s one Convict two Angelfish a Bichir and Pleco in a 150 gallon (He giving y’all the secret sauce) holla at me Cleveland need those hybrids

No, the 800 gallon has only been set up for a little over a year. Most of them got moved in from the 240. Then I added others in over time.
There are no tankmates for a adult large male Dovii they bumrush any fish anytime they are extremely aggressive .
Watch more videos my guy. You’ll learn something. All I do is keep adult and juvenile Dovii with tank mates.
You ain't teaching me anything, I've had Dovii for 40 years longer than you been alive , I've never had adult male large Dovii in tanks with other fish because when I've tried it was a no go the Dovii would start smashing them immediately . If you have them with other fish you have very rare Dovii that will tolerate other fish . You ain't teaching me shit
