  • I took some extra time and trimmed up a horse that I have shod for many years and trimmed them up the best I could to a high standard. This is Tino. He is a 20 year old Dutch Warmblood Eventing Horse.

    Thanks for not over trimming the bars. They're so integral, so important.

    I am afraid of horses due to an incident at Griffith Park in L.A. as a child; having said that - I have enjoyed learning about how horses are "shod." More facts like is a hoof the same as a human toe nail? Please don't speed up the videos as I enjoy watching a skilled farrier (in your case) process a horse's hooves. I find it oddly relaxing, like that kid from Sweden who built his own log cabin with hand tools. You guys are totally awesome to watch, thanks.

    What are the purpose of the bars? Seems others I've watched just get rid of them. Your showing about all of this is so detailed and wonderful to watch. Love it!

      The bars are an extension of the hoof wall giving the capsule strength and creating rigidity for the back half.

      @@USAfarrier-pnwfarriershow why is it that literally every other youtube video I've seen they just rip the bars out straight away? Which does the horse prefer?

    • @googlenutzer4853
      @googlenutzer4853 Год назад

      @@USAfarrier-pnwfarriershow have you ever seen a hoof from inside? Then you would know that bars that are left too long put a lot of pressure on the internal structures and are very uncomfortable for the horse. They should not lie on the sole and shortened accordingly.

    ive been trimming and shoeing for around 2 years now, i still take a few heats to shape/flatten shoes. how do you know when the shoe is fit on the outside that the nail holes and white line will be where they need to be?

    • @USAfarrier-pnwfarriershow
      @USAfarrier-pnwfarriershow  5 месяцев назад +2

      Well you have to pick a proper section of shoe to make sure that it’ll line up with the white line. Comes down to what shoe you pick to use for the foot.
