- The #AudiRS3 returns for 2022 with more aggression, power, handling, and fun. The beloved 2.5L turbo 5-cylinder engine now pumps out 401 HP, which #Audi says is the most powerful engine tune of the #RS3 in the world. We take it out on the track, road, and drift course to see what this hot little sedan is capable of.

Long Live The 5-Cylinder Engine! The new RS3 is one heck of an improvement over the previous model. Looking for a mini super sedan that is track capable right out of the box? Put this at the top of your list.
This car vs the new z….
The 5 cylinder makes music 🎶
Hey does it have ambient lighting ?
When will this car officially release in US market?
Yes
the center armrest closes by use of a latch, which you broke by using brute force instead of pressing the latch…
😂
I was wondering if he broke it. Damn
i mean…is it quality if his queeny hands could break it that easily
@@Littleathquakes no need for that

You broke something off the center console, and try hiding it with the cleaning cloth..lol

💯
He demolished it damn
Lol he just yanked on the arm rest instead of looking for a lever to open it and broke the clip that the latch attached to to keep it closed 😂 sneak MF Hahahahaha
This car in Kyalami Green is the dream,it puts the car on a whole other level. Checks all the boxes as far as what you want in a car imo.
That green color is very close to Kawasaki green. I hate it!
Love the NEW segment, @12:43
First sound of closing the door thunk. Now, the satisfying snap when you break the tiny hinge/release in the center armrest.
Proceeds to pry center console open breaking a piece.
"Dont know why that wouldnt open" -Sofyan
Dude broke the armrest latch and covered it with the cloth 😭😭😭
12:42 Looks like you broke something
This might be my next car. I've loved 5cyl Audis since the mid 80s. I love everything about this car. Edit: I hope you and Rob are doing well, covid sucks!
I need one too . Pronto! might trade in my 2019 VW GLI35 and 20k down. I need this beast!

@@ociabi which is slower, has 2 doors and worse engine sound?
The speed difference isn't noticeable, it's a spacious and more luxurious 2 door, it's cheaper because it's cheaper
Yeah I won’t ever use that drift mode on public roads or empty parking lots. Not once ;)
Damn the RS3 in the US sounds significantly louder than here in Europe, the US are lucky.
US models don’t have OPF
@@imtoogoodforchu yeah exactly, unfortunately here in Europe we have to face EU regulations.
4:33 “Functional air vent to create an air curtain over the wheel”
YES. FINALLY. SOMEONE. SAID. THIS. CORRECTLY.
Those VENTS are what they are. VENTS. NOT “AIR CURTAINS”.
Hey guys..we met in the Proper hotel last year - I have one of these cars and love it in that exact colour and spec… I am a huge fan of that 5 cylinder engine.
Wow, 0-60 in 3.8 is fast. That's exactly what my 2014 Stingray did it in and I still have memories of doing runs in that monster that bring a smile to my face. This starts at $56K (I paid $58K for my Stingray in '14), so that seems about right. Much better quality leather in this too; that cheap leather in the base Stingray was below even Kia-grade. Audi hit this one out of the park!
Some people have tested them doing 0-60 in 3.2 seconds, I can show you if you want to see. Quarter mile in 11.3 @ 121mph.. damn quick for a car like this. And it wasn’t even a perfect run or in perfect conditions, just wait till car & driver or motor trend get their test drivers to get perfect runs and see what they are truly capable of in stock form.
Makes me wonder if the engine is any different then before, the previous gen facelift made serious power with basic mods like downpipe and tune
@@PapiAndrey Ya I've seen 3.3 out of it. Crazy for a 5 cylinder
@@hlf_coder6272 crazy for a stock car that makes “400” hp. Tested making 430-440hp completely stock lol. Even a gallon or two of e85 on a stock car will bump that up 10-20hp.
I have no doubt in my mind that these will hit 60 in mid 2’s with simple bolt ons and a tune, the last one couldn’t put the power down as well as this new one can
Not only that, but you can also throw a tune on one of these Audi's for relatively cheap, and no additional hardware, literally just a tune, and gain like 100 more ponies. This would put it in the low 3s for 0-60, and into the low 11s for the 1/4 mile. And you get a perfect launch every time, back to back runs all day with ease, perfect (or very close) runs every single time, due to the Quattro AWD. Some people argue that the Quattro AWD is actually one of the best AWD systems too. Sweet cars. I love a beautiful Vette too though!
I honestly think Audi has taken over the futuristic interior game
Its just a dumbed down rs6 interior... Mercedes has that covered but they're getting lazy downsizing motors to things people don't want
@@ronburgundy4375 and the 6+ interior is the best on the market. Merc unfortunately has fallen into the “slap a screen on a boring dash” fad, and on their evs, they’ve just gone too far with the screens. Is just too much.

The RS3 passed in MOST of the test of this review, the only flag was that the central arm rest was destroyed when he "gently" tried to open it without using the latch under the arm rest.
gently
I just wish dealers weren't charging $10k markups on the car because for $74,000 the car is starting to compete with more powerful vehicles. For $64k, it is very well priced for 400hp, but for $74k, I'll find an IS500 or a used GS-F
I find 74k too much for an is500, the rs3 has a rare engine and to some, it’s price doesn’t matter
@@byronnasem4110 I agree with you, $74k is too much for a new IS-500, they're also being marked up by dealers because its rare to find on the roads. At a build price around $65k that's perfect, and it has ventilated seats. But the closer that number is to $80k, I'd just say to get an M3. Even for list price, a CLA45 can be optioned with ventilated seats and has an engine that's on par in terms of output. I like the Lexus 5L V8, but it's hard to justify the prices some are asking and the Audi interior is leagues ahead of Lexus, but the S3 came with ventilated seats back in December and they eliminated the warm weather package for it. That and the new Golf R is a waste of money so it just gives me another reason to not like Audi as a company
@@Da__goat Yeah I’m not paying 80k for a Lexus……so sorry lmao
@@byronnasem4110 drive an LC 500, you’ll beg them to take your money. I have the launch edition IS 500, zero regrets when that V8 note hits
@Charming Chowder Audi is a Volkswagen, what’s your point
Did the armrest clip break when you had to forcibly open it up?
It did, Oops. These very were early built pre-production cars and some of the parts weren't up to usual Audi snuff.
@@theredline nice excuse
You broke the vehicle! Repeat, you broke the vehicle! 1242! 1242! Youse a very bad boy.
180 mph top speed insane 😳
Dang dude, your excitement for this car made my shopping more difficult. I am looking at this or the M340i (Maybe the M240i or wait for the new M2), and now this is starting to pull ahead. Of course, there is always the option of saving 20 grand and buying the Golf R, which has similar performance AND cooled seats AND heated rear seats. . . decisions, decisions. . . Great, informative video as always!
Buy a lexus Is500
Golf R isn’t similar performance, but it’s not too far off. I’ve seen the R run a 12.1 second quarter mile at 112mph and doing 0-60 just under 4 seconds.
I’ve seen the new RS3 (sedan) do the quarter mile in 11.3 seconds at 121mph and 0-60 in 3.2 seconds. Not perfect conditions nor a perfect run either.
M340i and M240i aren’t as quick, they’re somewhere in the middle of the RS3 and Golf R.
@Charming Chowder lol what
Rs3 seems to be more of a rare car to see out on the road than an m2 imo,it's something a lil more different.
@@Jcastro9444 That and the 5cyl are the big draws. Especially in that blue or green.

I've been waiting for this review. Not that I would get wife approval to own it, but I would love to get this model.
When it comes to car ❤️ love , ignore the wife!!
The crappy thing about this deal is; My wife WANTS me to get this car but, I am not completely sold on it. She keeps threatening me, that she is going to order one and NOT tell me..

5 cylinder cars exist? Cool.
Yes sir 💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽
One of those cars where you just tint the windows and drive it for me I wouldn't mod it at all plenty of power and torque from the factory..this is a low mileage car and not even broken in plus on a very hot day..this cars a straight beast..imagine a cooler 70 degree day with am exhaust and tune you would be walking almost anything
Ya I'm finally taking delivery of mine in just a few weeks, and no way in hell I'm modding it. Numerous people have asked me if I would be. I'm not going to pay to make the car worth less money, while simultaneously voiding the warranty.
There's simply no need to do it. I have an M2 Competition right now, which is really similar to the RS3 in terms of performance, and I'm basically criminally speeding within 2-3 seconds after I get on it, regardless of where I am. Cars are just crazy fast now.
This is my dream car, going to save up for it. Just love the aggressive style and performance!
A goal worth saving for my friend!
Go ahead and order it now. By the time you get done saving, it might finally be here.
I ordered a black one in March. I just emailed my dealer 2 days ago to check on a timeline, and was told September or October...hopefully. So 7 or 8 months is the freaking best case scenario.

Trying to convince the wife I need to upgrade from my 2016 S3 to a 2022 RS3 lol
I had a 2017 S3. I switched over to an M2 Competition a couple years ago, but have missed my S3 ever since. It just fit me better.
So I have an RS3 on order right now. I'm trading the M2 for it when it FINALLY gets here, which still isn't for a few months. (I ordered the damn thing in early March)
That’s exactly what I’m doing as well. Just installed a Unitronic Stage 1+ ECU and TCU flash on it and it’s still fun. I’ll be sad to see it go.
center console broke???
Being perfect in every way!!
The biggest item missing from this vehicle is a 6spd manual, the only way to differentiate and justify a performance ICE over an EV.
I’ve been researching how to add a manual transmission to this aluminum block 2.5t but it seems no one on this great grand planet earth has done it.
It’s a shame. A manual would make this car PERFECT 🥰
@@Slowwagonftl won’t the 6spd from the 2012-2013 TTRS fit??? Audi essentially used the same 2.5t in that vehicle.

Neat! Hope u feel better Little bro
You’re legit one of the best reviewers on RUclips.
Truly wish they gave us the sportback. Would be the best car we can buy here. For the price.
I was initially thinking about getting this new one even though I have the current one but I just can't get over that new rear fender with the honeycomb inserts. And the new gear selector. It's a shame, because I like the new technology they added.
I actually finally take delivery of mine in about a month, but I almost didn't buy the RS3 because of that shifter. I have no idea what Audi was thinking with that decision.
I asked my dealer about it when I ordered and his response was, "It's what Porsche is doing" as if that explained everything.
Get it, you'll love it
Wait this wasn't discontinued in the States? Its not coming to Canada.

Great Review! Just started looking into this segment smaller car - very impressed.
Sadly this beauty isn't coming to Canada...
Why, environmental regulations or something?
I think the car is perfect for the young professional who just got their first raise. It's decently flashy and distinctive. No it's not royalty with that little 5 popper and the sky-high turbo boost but if you can swing the payments, it's gets you in the game. Later you can move up the food chain and get something more grown-up.
That young professional with their first raise is doing pretty damn good haha

These absurdly massive grills have gotten WAY out of hand. It look preposterous. That said, Audi always does a nice job on exterior lighting which fortunately distracts a bit from that super-sized grill.
the exterior lighting looks silly, but maybe its because they are targeting rich boy racers or Subaru fans who drive with euro beats blasting. Also, fake grill, fake vents and fake exhaust, this car is so much better if they would toned down
@@JSPHTRS The lighting is futuristic, cool and functional, which I like, but this is all purely subjective and preferential.
@@dlg5485
theres aftermarket light mods that do those, typically on JDM cars. I wasn't expecting it on an Audi (which i usually think of luxury) Vehicles. I probably wouldnt mind if it worked on both sides of the headlight but instead its only on one and the other showing a "checkered" flag..
@@JSPHTRS The RS3 is a performance car, not a luxury car, in the traditional sense. Sounds like you should be looking at the A3/A4, not the RS3. This model is aimed at young, trendy, enthusiast buyers...not conservative types.
@@dlg5485 I do like the RS3 (my neighbor has one). Upon research, theres some trims that dont have the matrix headlights, which is good. Again, this car is very sporty and performance based. Truth be told most car manufacturers are making their sports trim visually off the top, so I can't blame Audi for being a part of that trend.
Great review. Is AOA telling the press when the cars will be produced for the US market as ordered. We spaced a car and our dealer sent in order, but still in wait status.
