I heard that closing the hood by pressing it, you will risk bending the hood slightly and mess up panel gaps and even mess up the locking mechanism. It is better to dropp the hood from a point where it closes it self. It may sound harsh but it would not damage any thing. Slamming it, I would not recommend of obvious reasons.
Is this the best car reviewer on RUclips! Thanx Thomas for another excellent review! For me your ‘door closing sound’ check is a signature move. And once again review very informative and off course you pointing out all the important detail - buttons on steering wheel, etc.
So many physical buttons in the interior! Including the steering wheel and climate control. Amazing for VW in 22. Love it. Please bring this over to the Golf R…
Still think Thomas' wisdom regarding the S3 being the best one remains true. But still wish it would be a bit more luxury focused than sporty. They should allow the owner to have those hard door materials luxed up as an option.
Are you joking? The sound and the wide-body look are in another league. However it will be more expensive to service, but this is pretty much the last chance to grab a super-rare 5 cyl sportscar and I will not miss it. Only downside, the standard disc brakes: they feature a cheap fake directional design which is infuriating considering the price tag, so I will be getting the carboceramic ones with random perforations. Also took me some time to get used to those wider wheels upfront (lol) but the front track is much wider than the rear so it's fine, sports trike style kind of.
@@user-go5em9jn5m Definitely agree with you and the OP. I have serious concerns about the next A5 Coupe being dropped and only a Sportback being retained. Will they also start giving us 4 cylinders in an S5? Serious concerns. Have my eye on a 5-Series in next few years so also wondering if BMW will turns its interior into an all screen affair and drop the V8.
@@agnusdeiofficial1266 I'll be honest, those are factors younger people care about. At 30, you're more concerned with your career and a solid car that's great on a long trip and quiet enough to be in traffic is what matters. Oh and massage seats are the new concern in my case.
£60k hardly a lot of money these days and if it is a stretch, get a better paid job! I have one on order, along with a 718 Cayman GTS. God knows when I will get them, it's been a year now since I paid the deposits on both cars...
I adore this car and the brand of course. It’s just mega! I would love to obtain one in the years to come. You are doing great, buddy!! We all like your reviews. I really like the way you present the car and that matters the most to me. Cheers, mate!
Masterclass, as always. I have a question. I never had a steering wheel in Alcantara, so I'm wondering how long time it takes until the wheel gets greasee. In the summer it's kind of common for our hands to get sweaty.
Thanks for the Autobahn stories ! I drove there once, when visiting from Australia. We drive at 200kmh, was a fun achievement - but then mainly cruise drive at 160-170. Fastest in Australia is 100kmh - so it felt very fast !
Great review! I love how you go from reasonable thinking “but the s3” to this is awesome in the tight roads! 😅. I have a red RS3 on order. Sadly round steering wheel for sone reason in the US.
Great review Thomas. Personably I would never order steering wheel with alcantara. It looks and feel great brand new, but this material age horribly on a steering wheel. For my RS3 I ordered normal flat bottom steering wheel no alcantara. Regarding fuel consumption, would definitely be able to get this sub 8l with normal economic driving. I can get my 2022 GTI in low 6l, if I want to. 😁
I put a deposit down on one a couple months ago, but just submitted my build last week when it finally became available in the U.S. although the salesman thought it would actually wind up being a 23 model and not a 22 by the time I actually took delivery. It doesn't appear as if you can even get the flat bottomed wheel here in the U.S., which is a major bummer. A round wheel somehow seems sacrilegious in an RS. Still a cool car though
I ordered my RS3 in August 2021 and still no build week confirmed from Audi UK. Good luck. At least it will have the flat bottom steering wheel, thankfully you can get that in UK spec.
Here in the US a loaded S3 is only about $9,000 cheaper than a loaded RS3. For me it's a no-brainer. By the way Thomas, I immensely enjoy your reviews. I was born and grew up in Bonn and moved to the US at age 14. I'll be 50 this year and am itching to put my order for an RS3 in. I just sold my 2019 911 Carrera T and need something that will hold me over until the 992 T comes out. :)
23:42 yes of course we need the alcantara steering wheel, because Audi does not offer a heated steering wheel. Even Alfa has this for the giulia and stelvio lower trim models. Think about it Audi !
Had 37mpg out of my new RS3. It averages 30mpg if you don't put your foot down so much. Agree on the turning circle, something I wasn't expecting. The B&O is rubbish in this car. I think Audi have used lower grade components in the speakers.
Well delivered Thomas. RS 3 is definitely not a car for the promoters of self driving cars. Such people should not be allowed on the roads ....they are beyond me why they at all are in a car....

Great review but I totally get Audi's move. With such a melodic exhaust note I would never need a top-end sound system. And for the occasional traffic jam the intermediate option is largely enough ;)
I don't think so. The sport exhaust is hardly loud and definitely NOT melodic! It should come standard with the B&O system, which I had to add as an option to my RS3. £60k car with a shit sound system, typical Audi. They did the same with the TTRS I owned, I had to add the B&O as a cost option. Audi sound systems are terrible BTW - probably on purpose to make you get the B&O.

On my S3 with 19” wheels and summer Pirelli P-Zero’s, I found my tyres fell apart when making tight turns at low speeds (even from parking).
I hate that the only "design pack" available for the interior is the green. Why not red as well so it can be paired with the black?? They have it in the Middle East just not the US. And the UK gets neither. I wonder what the reasoning is behind that.

I switched from a45s to the RS3 8Y (hatchbacks) in January. It is. This is a front wheel drive platform with a haldex clutch. Physically you cannot have more maximum power at the rear, unless you limit power in the front
Wrong. The hatch is the looker, everyone knows that. Shame the US don't get it, so of course people then try to justify themselves by saying the saloon is better looking. Not in a million years.

On windy back or mountain roads both are exceptionally capable and great fun. Audi hit it out of the park imho as far as the stretch between comfortable daily and weekend racer is concerned. Both cars' interior materials are somewhat disappointing when considering pricing. If I didn't need/want 4 doors and 4wd I'd go for the m2c or Alfa Giulia Q.
You said the awd system on the rs3 is front bias which is not true
It is. This is a front wheel drive platform with a haldex clutch. Physically you cannot have more maximum power at the rear, unless you limit power in the front
@@autogefuehl so it’s a front wheel drive platform with a rear bias awd system?
4:01 that’s how I close the hood
I think I’m on my 10th RS3 vid 😆😂
Beautiful car.
That sedan is way better looking than the hatch.
Wrong. The hatch is the looker, everyone knows that. Shame the US don't get it, so of course people then try to justify themselves by saying the saloon is better looking. Not in a million years.
