The 2023 Audi RS3 Is A Pint-Sized Super Sedan With A Turbo Unicorn Under The Hood

- With ICE powered vehicles continuing to represent the past as we marched toward electrification, finding a brand new car with a unique engine like this 2023 #AudiRS3 is a very good thing, especially for enthusiast. The redesigned #RS3 has what is essentially half of the motor from a Lamborghini Huracan, a 2.5L turbocharged 5-cylinder engine making 401 HP. While #Audi continues to offer the new RS3 as only a sedan in America, this #Quattro AWD #SuperSedan can accelerate to 60 MPH as quick as some supercars and for all this performance, the latest RS3 is actually a decent value if you can keep the options in check.

Happy Weds everyone and say hello to the only brand-new 5-cylinder powered vehicle you can currently purchase in America! We suspect this car will eventually become a highly sought after car in the used car market since Audi, like so many brands has pledged to go all-electric by 2033. Hope you guys enjoy the lovely tunes coming from the exhaust in this video!
Another excellent review. Is the 5 pot a cast iron block or all aluminum?
@@lions208436 Both aluminum unfortunately. Great from a weight perspective, but iron block and aluminum head is what I would have done, as an engine designer(Which I am not). lol
@@Kiss__Kiss Thanks for the feedback. Didn't take the time to verify so thanks for confirming that it's aluminum. Also, I have a couple buddies that work on classic and modern car's and there preference is all aluminum..not just because of weight but they claim it's more durable and if probably maintained stuffers from less wear from heat and friction v cast iron.

Yep
They didn't make it. Have you gone to a dealer? They don't exist.
@@ChrisRogersTheAngryChefwhat don’t exist? A fee of my friends have this newer one. I have an 18 myself.
@@ryanb8736 I'm not talking about a 2018. I'm talking about a brand new RS3. Go to a dealer and try to buy one- they will try to sell you another car or tell you it will take over 6 months.
Long live that 2.5L turbocharged 5-cylinder, and I'll be very sad if it goes away in the coming years with electrification comes around for this car :( Because this 5-cylinder is really the only modern-day 5-cylinder left and it[s a gem of an engine. The sound alone is reason enough to buy the RS 3.
Forget the BMW and the Benz, this is the one to get. That exhaust sound is wonderful. Literally a baby V10.
You Sir are a very lucky man !👏
I’ve had my 18 since day one and it’s been amazing with almost 100k on it now. Best car I’ve owned in 35 years of owning tons of cars.
Truly a masterpiece! Wish they would give us the RS3 hatch, but props to audi for building such a beauty, nice review!
That's exactly what I thought...😭
If you put an aftermarket catback exhaust on the RS3, that 5-cylunder sounds absolutely insane! Not exaggerating, it's comparable to a V10 Ferrari or something.
My 18 is loud with its factory exhaust. I got pulled over twice for loud exhaust.
Very cool color. The Germans sure build some awesome machines. Wish I could afford one.
Fantastic car, do wish they would give us the hatch, they finally gave us the RS6, why not the RS3 hatch. Nice review!
Congratulations 🎊 you have been selected as a great winner

Seriously bro they don’t realize how bad everyone would want the hatch.
@@GLA45Amg716 I should have thrown in the RS4 too. RS7 is my grail, but the RS4/RS3 hatch would be fine by me!
according to what auto journalist claim, Americans don't like hatchbacks. not that i would want every car to look like that, but they get that from the industry. the truth is i think they only go by what sells here, and it is true that sedans sell more in the US.
but i don't think Americans hate hatchbacks, it's just that if you're Audi, BMW, or Mercedes, hatchbacks tend to sell better in Europe. so that could be why they didn't bring it here.
Excellent review very informative sir! Just ordered a 23 RS3 a couple months ago, and I can't wait to get it now!
When is it due ?
Are you going to wear the obligatory white Titleist hat with a golf bag in the trunk? My Mustang GT generates quite a formidable bulge in my shorts. I feel bad for you.
You have a very long wait ahead. I ordered mine in September 21, still haven't got it. Currently showing build week 11, so fingers crossed. Mines a tango red sportback, with carbon and dynamic packs, which includes ceramic brakes and top speed of 180mph. I'm in the UK. Be warned Audi have stopped taking orders in some markets and even started to cancel new orders. I'd check with your dealer if I were you. Good luck mate.

One of the best daily cars I’ve owned in 35 years of driving.
If they would just bring the hatch to the states. I absolutely love Audi 5 cylinders which is why I'll have my UrS6 until I get buried in it but, the RS3 just needs that hatchback to make me want to daily it.
Sedans are still pretty practical. I’d say go for it. How often are you really needing that space? Mounts for bikes and rent a truck for big items and not scratch up the car. My Jetta swallows a ton of stuff lol
@@loki_wolff I have a 3 year old and 3 dogs my wife likes bringing with us to places lol the UrS6 sedan is just my project/passion car. I've got a trd pro tundra and a Corolla so I'm really covered for whatever I need to do on any given day. I agree a Jetta is definitely a good practical daily but I've owned multiple in the past as well as GTI's and other VW Audi Group vehicles (life long VAG enthusiast). I just personally would prefer the hatch. Really don't need two 5 cylinder turbo Audi's to throw money at either lol
Greeting Sofyan pls it will be a good thing to incorporate night driving in your review, you always have these cars for a week or more a good night driving scene would be nice. Thanks

Best Audi you can buy for the money. Shame they don’t offer heated steering wheel or vented seats. Why no remote start or 360 camera!
My thoughts as well I'm purchasing one!
They decided to put that money into drivetrain. I’m just happy they still make this. Heard they halted production temporarily. So hopefully all you guys get yours. Amazing car for the money.
it's a shame they killed the exhaust note to match the OPF versions in europe. I'll miss the raucous nature of the previous gen RS3 and TT RS.
I do wish they'd stop pumping fake audio into the cabin and make the exhaust louder in open mode to hear the real exhaust
Great review mate from Australia we get a few things you dont from the sound of it. 360 cameras/massage seats ect
I ordered one a couple of months ago cant wait. I had the opportunity to drive one on the track recently it is fantastic very impressive
Pint sized? It's a mid-sized car! In fact, it wasn't that long ago that the RS4 was the same size as this car. You can fit four adults in there and if you get the sportback (I have one on order), fold the rear seats and there's a ton of room. It will be my daily, so school runs, shopping and even fishing... oh the steering wheel is not large! It is the same size as the flat bottom option, which people think is smaller. Measure them, you will find they're the same. Got the flat version optioned on my RS3.
Wow, I'm actually excited for an audi product that costs less than $100k
I like how you do your titles. It's better in my opinion than asking a question relating the car you're reviewing to another car that maybe the automaker themselves told you to list as a rival in your title.
Amazing! The only thing I would be worried about is parts for this engine years down the road. Oem will likely be your only option and Audi can jack up prices on things like fuel pumps etc. (not saying these need that).
I want one of these, but I can't get over the small size of the RS3 as a daily
Agreed this car is tiny
There is the RSQ3 which has the same engine but its a small crossover.
I like that, too many boats on the road...nimble and easy to park
Really? It is not a small car! I suppose if you're in the States you might think it small, but in the UK it is a mid sized car and the perfect daily for most people. I'm going from an RS4 to this RS3, when it turns up. Been waiting 15 months and still not been built.
@@Nestle245 define tiny? You can get five people in it, probably 4 if you're talking overweight Americans. Boot is a good size too. It is the perfect daily. I have one on order. Will get used for school runs, shopping and even fishing trips.
@theredline
If you had a choice between the Audi S3 and RS3 - which would you choose?
Currently, I am the market for a new car and have narrowed my options down to those two options. Unfortunately, none of the local dealerships ever have either of those models in stock and when they do that are immediately sold - so I am unable to test drive either.
I am seeking an executive luxury daily driver with power/kick and extremely smooth shifting. I have no intention of ever drifting but tend to have a lead foot on the highway lol so would like the ability to do high speeds easily.
The 5 cylinder engine on the RS3 sounds so tempting but I wonder if it's too much power.
Any thoughts?
The power of the quatro awd

RS versions are super rare. I probably see more exotic super cars in a year than I do any Audi RS models combined...
Not where I live (UK). Audi RS are quite common.
True. In US, I see more Lamborghinis than I do RS3’s. I’ve had mine for almost 6 years.
I love this F***ing CAR!!😍🔥🚀🙌🏽
That's a bad ass car. Very impressive.

Hybrid? Go get yourself a nice prius or a golf cart. This vehicle is for those who enjoy a real high performance vehicle with a fire breathing engine.
@@notmethanks816 😂😂😂
I love this car! It's the perfect size and ideal amount of power, handling, and overall driving dynamics... But that pricing is a little whack. Couldn't pay over $60k for a properly spec'd out model.
Hows the price whack? It's an audi and its the highest level of performance, on par with CLA35 AMG and M2. What, you wanted to be 35k?
These cars are underpriced for what you get. These are also one of the best tuning monsters. A tune and proper fuel, these will beat supercars.
These cars totaled are still going for 35-40k. This has a 30k drivetrain. Lamborghini technology trickled down.
64k Bye Civic Type R Hello Audi RS3 😂
Nice review. You pointed out the high points and the not so great aspects, as usual. Can you give me your impression of the cabin noise and ride comfort at highway speeds? Tolerable for long-distance travel? Sometimes, I travel off the main highways, if the back roads are accommodating. BTW, I'd daily the too. :)
When you put the car in comfort/auto it drives and rides how you’d expect an Audi sedan too. Very daily drive-able with a relatively quiet cabin. It should be able to get close to 30 mpg if you keep the speeds below 70 MPH as well.
I drove 2022 a few months ago and it super quiet in comfort mode. Seats are really comfortable, and I'm 6'2 215lbs. After I drove it I order a 2023
@Tim thank you for replying. I live in SW Ohio.
I'm trying to export some of our potholes to unfavorable nations. Until I can, are you concerned about the 19s on the front end?
I own a 2023 RS3. Got it about 2 months ago. If you put it in comfort it’s basically an A3. Super quiet, nice ride. All that. And the cabin is quiet. You’ll have no complaints there. No annoying rattles or anything. Hit the RS button and it turns into a monster.
But if you’re interested I’d get your order in sooner than later. It took mine 9 months to arrive, but supposedly people are being told 18 months now. Good luck
@@zTimmyz0244Did you receive your allocation yet?
Thanks for the review. Trading my 2023 C43AMG for the 2023 RS3 in Gray. You definitely have to shop nationwide because dealership are charging $20-30,000 over sticker for these cars! Absolute BS. I luckily found one at the right price.
Just got my allocation, and I'm paying msrp as well! ADM is BS!!
A few things. The car already comes with the black optics but can get a black optics us which adds wheels and rings in black and requires black sport exhaust. So no silver except exhaust and wheels.
The roof is a panoramic but there's an option for it to be painted black.
Can't get seats in any color but black. Stitching can come in a few colors.
The design is 👍

@fzr1000 nice. I rather order just so I get everything I want. It came out to 73k.

That gaping front is like the old civic type r, very busy, in your face and boy racer looks
4:20 👈🏼😂 Big 5 Cylinders engine?? 🤦🏻♂️ sad day when a 5 cylinders engine is considered big.
I think it was a figure of speech! Big as in notorious or well known for its uniqueness!
Good review. Thank you for the quality content and professional presentation. I-5 rocks but beware it can easily skid off the road in the hands of inexperienced eager drivers.
Just picked up tango red a few weeks ago, 65k with technology package. No complaints but ECU is still locked so not mod friendly (yet)
I love the RS3 but Audi (And honestly, all 3 German companies) All seem to cheap out on features. Why does a $60,000 car not have ventilated seats in 2022? That is ridiculous.
Love this little beast!!
Cool car, but at $30K more expensive than a Golf R that comes standard with ventilated seats while this doesn't even offer them... it's a stretch. Also the Golf R does 0-60 MPH in 3.9 secs, so it's not too far off the performance of this thing. The RS3 is definitely cooler than the Golf R, just not $30K cooler.
Well Said.. Then again, from a badge snob.. People are willing to pay for the difference.. Not to mention the 5 Cyl. sound.
The golf r has a worse interior than a corolla
But the Golf can't be a performance and luxury car,the RS 3 can be fast and have that luxury, the Golf R will never have that
@@truckercowboyed2638 The lack of ventilated seats in a $75K car doesn’t exactly scream luxury… but yes, this interior is still superior to the Golf R, just not $30K better, more like $10-15K better at most.
Drive one and then maybe decide
Dynamic plus package is not available on the RS 3 anymore.
Almost perfect but like the steering wheel on the last model of rs3 !! Just doesn’t seem sporty enough , to round and big !
There’s a carbon black edition that features a smaller round flat bottom steering wheel I’d definitely get
Thumbs up for the reviewer only.
You briefly compared it to the bmw i4. If you had a choice between the two which would you choose and why?
I love all audi products. i just wish they put more ambient lighting like mercedes. I kind of wish more cars had ambient lighting.
Fantastic car , shame that it does not have the Manual gear box option ( stick shift 😂)
Then it would be slower. This trans is what makes it so fast. Same with Lamborghini and why they ditched slow manuals. It’s all about gout fast.
@@ryanb8736 maybe on a track . All depends on why we chose high performance cars . Im not into being a Drag super star from the lights . Not only is it uncool , you could end up with a costly Ticket . The speed difference between Auto and Manual is not noticeable for the driver . Only if racing against the clock . Manual gearbox should always be a option to the car enthusiast as its much more engaging and fun to drive . We are not precessional racing car drivers trying to win championships 😜
I want to drive this car.
Does this car have the RS sport exhaust option?
Sofyan I was wondering if the active torque splitter gives the 2023 RS3 a rear wheel drive bias handling, why did Audi give it wider shoes to wear up front than in the rear?
Because previous RS3's have been known for quite a lot of understeer, Audi have implemented many tricks to make the 2022 not feel so nose heavy.
Sadly this car will not be sold here in Canada. I was going to buy one to replace my 2019 RS3 however we can't buy it here. I can't even cross the border to buy one in New York. It looks like I'll have to switch teams and get a GTR or something similar. What can you do????

The media screen and dash specifically.
Great review! Love this car, Audi does great cars. But, when did you film this? Shorts and green scenery at this time of year in PA? Your have the best reviews. Keep up the great work!
What’s a better daily driver, the new Mustang Dark Horse or the RS3?
RS3 hands down. But the Mustang is a great car too no doubt.
Audi no longer offer this model here in Canada.. disappointing!
REALLY???? That really sucks :( I've seen plenty of S3's of this generation, and it's a shame that Canada doesn't get this RS 3.
Don’t worry. I live in Buffalo I’ll drive mine to Toronto this summer
I really want one but my growing boys won't like the back seat space.
They still make the RS Q3 in Europe, if I’m not mistaken……it also has the I-5 like the RS3
Is this comfortable enough for a week long road trip?
It absolutely is! 👍
A 3-door hatch would be awesome
The new Integra would be not bad with AWD, the new V6 Turbo and with the 10 speed Autom., but Honda never would that make.

None of this matters, you can't get one. I just tried the RS3, Type R, Supra manual, GR Corolla, new Z. All of these cars are pipe dreams, they don't make them. Even if you pay over sticker, they simply don't exist. This is only 2023, imagine what it will be like in 2030, the government won't need to take your ICE car, the manufacturers just won't make them.

@@deadstar962 Biggest Dealer in Los Angeles (BH Audi). When it comes to rare sports cars there are more here than anywhere else on the planet, even Dubai. I have seen one new Z but none of the other cars mentioned. The dealer later contacted me and said 6 months but the lease terms are far worse than the S3, they change the residual. The price is only around 5K difference between the two when considering options on the S3 but the payment difference is huge. The RS3 is more valuable and rare so the residual should reflect that, but it doesn't. Audi does not want to sell these in the US, but they will throw an A3 or S3 in your face.
