It’s time for an Audi vs Audi drag race!
Mat’s brought along his new long-term test car, the Audi RS7 Performance, and he’s racing it against an Audi RS3! But this is no ordinary RS3 - it’s had an ECU remap and a recalibrated gearbox, and it just may have what it takes to compete with the RS7!
So let’s check out the stats. Starting with the RS3, it’s equipped with a 2.5-litre 5-cylinder turbo. This would normally produce 400hp and 480Nm of torque, but following the tune it can now produce 500hp and 630Nm! It only weighs in at 1,510kg, and it costs around £30,000.
Then we have the RS7. It packs a 4-litre twin-turbo V8, producing 630hp and 850Nm of torque. This power is sent to all four wheels, and it weighs much more than the RS3, tipping the scales at 2,065kg! It’s also so much more expensive, costing around £133,000!
So the RS7 is up on power, but it’s also well up on weight! Will the weight difference prove decisive? There’s only one way to find out… LET’S RACE!

@@apox5308 Tune isn't great. Stage 2 with intercooler, downpipe and a turbo elbow easily gets 540-555bhp rather than the 500bhp in this video. Mine is stage 1+ with just an intake and running 505. Going stage 2 next month!

Tbf with a difference of aprx £100,000 we all know what we would buy - within 18 months the loss on the RS7 would buy the RS3 !🤔🤔🇬🇧

RS3 is still FWD with shitty suspension. The RS7 like the A7 ad S7 is double wishbones all around. Such a nicer feel to drive and turn corners in, despite the weight.

£300 - £400 for a stage 1, which on average gives you 50hbp more. £1k for double the power doesn't sound too bad but its the lack of supporting mods that's baffling me. Stage 2 on a RS3 is typically recommend to be supported by an up-rated intake and sport cat down pipe at least.
@@TML34mate, the gearbox is the jewel in the car - good for 7 second 1/4 miles without failure
I paid £1k for a stage 1 ECU+TCU tune from MRC tuning and got 130ps 200nm more torque.
Basically your average diesel powered added on top and already powerful powerplant.
You pay the price for specialists. Not gonna trust your mate in a local garage down the road to put the right tune on.
