Really pleased that Paul has gotten into blues and appreciates all the stuff you can do in blues and yet he's a world-champion shredder and can do all that neo-classical blitz stuff as well as anyone. He did a nice Red House cover many years ago.
Keith, of the best educators on the planet. It's as wonderful to listen to him play as listening to him talk. And Paul Gilbert, who is such a humble guy and always curious and interested. Always wants to learn new things, and at the same time being one of the greatest rock guitarists on the planet. I love RUclips.
You two were my instructors I’m an 88 grad you both were awesome to my knowledge and yes it was the year we switched campuses so I went to the old and new building - good to see you two -Gil
Pauls artistworks lessons series is awesome. I'm not even really familiar with his music but he's so much fun to watch the lessons are fun and full of practical stuff.
Love this jam....Paul is such a great, given musician and Keith was the guy that showed me the ropes when I was a lad. Love to see them together having fun....whats its all about
I can't believe it Paul Gilbert is actually playing slow tasty blues.. Instead of his usual jet pack scale runs. Unbelievable. It's good to see a shredder can slow it down, if he just gives it a little effort.
You should watch the youtube video of Paul jamming with Nathan East on the one chord challenge. If you haven't seen it you will probably love it. Paul is a master musician, no question about it.
Hey Paul, from an unknown blues player, please listen to this vid again, notice the difference between him playing the chords for your solo and you playing them, why when he plays it sounds better? Why your solo stands out better? Because he plays softly and a few sounding notes so your solo can be heard, he leaves lots of space for you, you don't leave any space for him with your rhythm. Your welcome, I accept BC, PayPal, used shoes or dinner leftovers.
Well, i learned something new today. i always thought that a lot of the playing on that record wasn't quite Stevie's style and now i know why. Thank You for the info Brian
Not too bad. One thing I'd like to say though; not every down-beat in a solo needs to have a single note from a scale. You can throw little chords in there too and they don't need to have all 6 strings strummed. You can do 2-strings, 3-strings, 4 - it doesn't matter, just throw a little chord in there here-and-there to give your solo some depth so it's not just more "riffing off" That's when the "music theory" really shows
This vid came up in the suggestions after I finished watching this one. I just had to come back and share it, not to mention bookmark it lol ruclips.net/video/xlnXkk_pvSw/видео.html&ab_channel=ArtistWorks
i just can't help but notice that like nobody can manage that perfect wrist outside picking that paul has. I've tried to do it for years and haven't figured it out either. it looks so effortless too. keith wyatt plays well, but his picking hand seems overly tense, like most players tbh. drives me crazy how elusive pauls outside picking is.
I went to GIT in 1987.Lots of great players and of course the teachers were all monsters. John Frusciante was in my class too. He’s brilliant.
I studied with both these guys in '86. Was a blast

keith's lead, so fluid, feeling, insane

Boy, what a pleasure it is to listen to these 2 both, their playing as well as talking about music!
MAN OH MAN. Keith absolutely killed that first solo!!!!
I could listen to these guys talk shop all day.
Killer jam! As big fan of Paul i just love to see and hear how his playing is transformed from shred king to bluesman :)
You two were my instructors I’m an 88 grad you both were awesome to my knowledge and yes it was the year we switched campuses so I went to the old and new building - good to see you two -Gil
Keith Wyatt is a legend!
Great encouragements from Keith. Equal to a +25 skill potion.
Brother , that is some quality playing, don't know what to say. . Awesome. Paul you're the man.
Pauls artistworks lessons series is awesome. I'm not even really familiar with his music but he's so much fun to watch the lessons are fun and full of practical stuff.
Thanks Keith Wyatt for all your lessons! I learned a lot from his dvd's and books!

Love this jam....Paul is such a great, given musician and Keith was the guy that showed me the ropes when I was a lad. Love to see them together having fun....whats its all about

Always enjoyed keiths style of working the blues. Good stuff!!
2 of my absolute biggest influences. Love these guys!!
Both are wonderfull guys and musicians!!!
I went to school with them all. Great memories.
I could listen to hours of Keith and Paul talking about music history, interspersed with some jamming
Now THIS, makes me smile!
Damn!! such tasty playing on both sides!
I want to see Paul Gilbert put out a strictly blues album
Look for the album he did with his uncle Jimi Kidd, Raw Blues Power.
Evan Simpson I was just thinking the same thing... wonder what he would call it, I know it would be great
If it weren't for some neoclassical tracks, I bet Gilbert Hotel would count as strictly blues.
bring this on tour please !!!
That was awesome, two great guitarists for sure.

Both amazing players! Keith is great, I might actually sign up for the Artistworks thing to learn blues from him.
Like how Keth answers Paul Aha, oh yeah! when Paul talks (plays). An actual dialog.

keith!!!
Totally awesome!
Can anyone tell me what Keith was playing there, that shuffle, oh GOD
6:07 why is B flat a better key?
most trumpet and saxplayers prefer it cause there instrument is tuned in that key
Ahh! Paul even said it "...horn key"
that was freiking insane....right there !!!!
Love these guys
that was so cool
Sick blues in I can destroy,I hear many influences in this album
that was awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Good video
Stevie Ray Vaughan was actually playing the guitar on Bowies Let´s dance record, not Bowie himself..
Grodperspektiv Stevie = Lead
Nile = Rhythm
Didnt stevie ray vaughan play on lets dance.
Yup, he did the leads! ;-)
There are simply not enough like buttons for this.
oohhh Mercy!
Stevie Ray Vaughn played guitar on Let's Dance, I think that is common knowledge, but in case some folks did not know here.
What is that Tele? Looking alright and sounds great.
the master and his padawan...🎸🔁🔥
Wowwwwwwww!!!!! Amazing! :)
We just put up part of a new Paul and Keith session here: ruclips.net/video/42bO7lS7F_A/видео.html
Imagine what Paul Gilbert and Jeff Buckley could do together...

Woah, that would be a jam: Gilbert and Herring!
I thought SRV played guitar on the lets dance album
SRV played some leads, but Nile Rogers did the bulk of the rhythm playing.
Well, i learned something new today. i always thought that a lot of the playing on that record wasn't quite Stevie's style and now i know why. Thank You for the info Brian
my teacher.. the Boss wyatt
man... they're soo enjoying it. I don;t think they care about the camera anymore.
SRV played the solo! Come on
They barely even need words, they can communicate through music.
¿what is the model of Paul's guitar?
Ibanez artcore I think
+kal mercury 1979 Ibanez Artist Model 2630 semi-hollow in Antique Violin finish.
+mindrust8 Thank you!

Where is part 2?
There's another 6 parts of this interview online for members at ArtistWorks
Is it free? Because. Profiteering off the backs of starving artists, in pursuit of knowledge and preservation of the art form, is not cool...

"The son of that...oh Jeff Buckley."
Nile Rodgers is a monster.
Stevie Ray played guitar on let’s dance. Great musicians don’t hurt when writing a good song.
Wow, Paul Gilbert went to GIT with Jeff Buckley... Never knew that...
Crazy! Tbh I didn't even know Buckley went to GIT.

This had me grinning.
Good God have mercy indeed! Too tasty at the end there.
❤❤❤❤❤❤😮😊🎉
Yeeeehhhhh!
Jeff Buckley was there rockin on guitar!
Paul is master of guitar everybody know that.. but his attack is Rock hes gone far from the world of blues and jazz 🙏✨
Not so keen on Pauls corky tone, but Keiths yeah i can dig that
