Thanks for this video, because I’m considering buy this thing and I’m surprised that there is version 4.0 already. Has this think any other functionality? CarPlay is the most, but anything else? For example video player while you standing on the place or whatever.
Not that I’m aware of. It’s limited to what the stock headunit is capable of. It does the job though. Thanks for watching!

Thx for the quick review Ron. Since owning the unit, has the 'boot up' from a cold start "improved" at all over time, or does it still go through that 'linking/connect' screen and take 15-20 seconds for connection ? Also, one other thing (I have a 2022 Subaru Outback with only wired CarPlay), when I start my car, if Bluetooth is selected in my dashboard, and my iPhone Bluetooth is "on" (ie. not wired/plugged into the car), my iPhone music automatically starts playing in the car, which I find annoying - is this eliminated by using the Carlink adapter ?
It still goes through that linking screen and takes the same amount of time. Since I do remote start on my car, it connects as I’m walking towards it (a few feet away) so that saves a bit of time. My 22 Outback doesn’t auto play music via Bluetooth, it just connects directly to the unit. I think the adapter does prevent it from doing that. Hope this helps!

I'm curious, does your OBW have the wireless charger? I'm up in Canada and mine came standard with the wireless charger. I do want wireless android auto and curious if this unit will work for Android as well? But also the downside I see is that using the wireless pad is not going to be an option as with my experience trying to get my phone in that ridiculously small slot with a cable plugged in is near impossible. Curious to hear your thoughts on other placement options?
What’s up Ryan. Nope, my OWB did not come with the wireless charger. The site says Android is compatible but I personally couldn’t get it to work on my wife’s phone. My guess is that it had a hard time switching between iPhone/Android if both of us were in the car. I didn’t bother spending any more time on it since I wanted the experience to be as real as possible, meaning I won’t spend 10+ mins each time trying to get it to connect.
Edit: the rear usb ports did not work. It has to be connected to the front. Other suggestions: purchase a longer cable and route the unit to the center console/glovebox, or hide it on the passenger side pocket. Sorry about that!

Hey, just wondering how is your long term use of this? do you get disconnects on long drives or lags?
So far, it’s not bad. It does lag on Google Maps from time to time but nothing too serious. No disconnects. It beats having the phone charging full time.

I can’t confirm since my WRX doesn’t have CarPlay, but I was reading through the site and it said if your car is equipped with wired CarPlay, it should be compatible!
Hi, have you tried the built in maps along with the music from your phone? I have the carlinkit box, but when I start a navigation route in the built in maps the carlink reboots, cpuld you please try it?
You mean Google maps/waze while playing music? If so, I do it all the time and aside from slight lagging, no issues.

How is your map full screen
If you don't have the option to click full screen on the main CarPlay menu then my guess is that the dealer updated my headunit. But it has always been like this since I got the car.
IOS gets a full screen whereas Android gets half a screen. No idea why .. 🥲
