  • This is the first video of my DIY electric tow bar. I hate pushing the plane by myself so I came up with this. The commercial ones cost way to much and this one you can build for under $150 USD.

No this is a motor from an old electric wheelchair. I found them on eBay. They are slow but have a crazy amount of torque.

Hi! How big of an airplane were you able to pull with this design?

I don't know. Our plane now has the wheel covers on and I can't test it. I am still looking for testers.

@@brankly I'd be curious to find out if I can tow a Piper Arrow with it. I don't think it can move a Twin Commanche or Seminole from the power requirements I have been reading about.

The plane is still in the paint shop. When it comes back I will make another video.

The video is way too long... it needs to be no longer than half as long as you have it now. Under 5 minutes might be ideal. Please learn to edit and show the beginning and the end of each task. Ideally, show the end product working at the very beginning and then go back and show it from scratch. It is not at all enjoyable to watch you ratchet nuts and bolts! Especially, disappointing is the fact that you do not show how it works! Sorry about the harsh critique!

Its not his job to entertain you. You're lucky he's making this video freely available, watch it for ideas how to build your own.

its not too long it explains everything step by step as it should to give everyone some insight into how the unit is built...obviously your a desk jockey who doesn't work with his hands.....
