I had my 2015 Legacy Premium for over 300,000 miles and gave it to my nephew. I never had one thing go wrong, except for routine maintenance. A mechanic at my Subaru dealership wanted to buy it from me, because it was in such good condition.
I’m absolutely a “sedan preferred” owner! I have owned 5 different Camrys! I’ve always liked the Legacy sedan! Nuts! I’m sorry they haven’t sold that well! I appreciate your channel Alex! I understand Subaru executives deciding to cancel this model. I’m not in a place to trade for one currently. I guess I could always trade for a recent preowned model! I’ve followed your channel for over a year already. You’re very well informed! Appreciate you sharing this with us! I have no problem traveling to your dealership if I ever get serious about wanting a Legacy! I’ve been to Louisville several times in my life! Again, thank you for sharing this Alex! With great respect always! Mark in southeast Iowa.
They should, but I wish one of the automakers would make a small truck without 4 doors, and give it a longer bed. I have a 1987 Ford Ranger with a 7 foot bed, I'd love to get something newer but nobody makes a compact pickup anymore with a useful bed.
Australian here, i was absolutely devastated to hear when they cancelled the liberty over in Australia in 2020. Sorry to hear its happened again in the US 😭 liberty has been my dream car since I was old enough to work. I wanted to keep buying them until I retire but instead I'll juat get the chance to own 1. I brought myself a 2019 3.6 premium and im hoping to keep it for a long time but im young so it definitely won't be my last.
@seegee7728 im hoping to get about 10 years outta her. I Usally swap cars at the 15 years mark. 6.3L per 100km is great for a car that size. I'm hoping with all the highway driving I do i can keep fuel costs down on the 6 cylinder 😅
I just bought a 2020 Liberty, she's a beast! I had a 2008 Liberty since 2011 and have been a huge Subie fan ever since 🥰 Best of luck with yours, long may it reign!
Almost bought a but Crosstrek, but it’s bit too small for my needs. Forester is also a nice SUV, but a bit too big for me. Decided to test drive a CX-5 Preferred and was blown away by how quiet and smooth handling it is. And it’s just the right size for me.
*I've been a Legacy buyer since 1992, and I predict that Subaru is going to regret the decision to discontinue it: the price of gas is rising again, and by 2030 it will be at, or above, the cost of fuel during the early 1970s. The Legacy fits into this tiny little market slice perfectly, and this currently tiny market is going to grow significantly over the next 10 years.*
I have a 2023 outback and I had initially ordered the legacy but it was not available to me in Ontario Canada in November 2022. I waited from July till November only to be told I would have to wait another year which was not possible, the only model available is the GT which was the one I wanted. After having my outback for over a year, I am pleased with it and have come to terms with the fact that I will not have a legacy. This is my first style vehicle and I was just looking for an all-wheel-drive car, very difficult to find indeed. It is too bad that the legacy has been discontinued. It was a beautiful car.
I picked up a 2023 Legacy and it is an incredible car. It is great on road trips, the lower height makes it easy to load my kayak (the Subaru racks are quick to mount with the factory bolting locations), and a sedan with all-wheel drive is just enjoyable to drive. I knew the Legacy was on borrowed time but was hoping it would stick around long enough for me to get a new one in a few years. Hopefully, Subaru will come out with some interesting options for the plastic-clad adverse.
Alex, I get what you're saying, but not everyone wants to 'ride up high,' or drive a box. My '22 Legacy XT Touring is the best car I've ever had. Friends say it is as luxurious (or more luxurious) than their swanky-brand cars. It goes like hell and the leather smells like heaven. The trunk, while not wagon-like, is impressively large. Sedans seem quieter, too, than SUVs because there's more insulation around those rear wheels. No automaker is actively advertising sedans because the masses want to 'ride up high.' Why didn't Subaru put a hybrid in a Legacy, Impreza, or the rest of the line-up to compete with the Prius??Or all of the Korean cars?? One more point: in the headlines this morning was a story about pedestrians fatalities in NYC this year. Most cars that struck and killed pedestrians in 2024: those boxy SUVs.
Making a hybrid wouldn’t have made any difference. The legacy made up 3% of their US sales. The fact is mid size sedans are a dying segment. Compacts have gotten bigger and fits the needs of most car buyers and compact crossovers have become most popular segment in America. So unless you have the strong reputation of a Camry or Accord, or sell most of your units to fleets like the Altima or Malibu, you not going to sell a lot of mid size sedans. Even though the K5 and Sonata just got refreshed, it is strongly believed they will be gone too once they hit the end of their generation because their sales are a fraction of what they were 10 years ago.
as an ex wrx sti and mitsu evo ix owner I'm not sure I agree on the go like hell comment lol I' don't know in the US but in my small country in europe forester owners all use their cars for what it was made, mostly farmers foresters mountain people I never see them in towns, and I want one because I now go weekly on the furthest driveable roads into mountains and forests and a sportscar is just too low, I agree subaru current e-boxer hybrid is too slow I really hope they'll up their game for 2025 or I'll go toyota rav4
It’s sad to see it go. As a car guy, the Legacy was one of the best AWD sedans. I’m a little torn. I’ve owned a lot of Acuras, but recently we picked up a 2021 Outback Limited since my wife always wanted an Outback. I’m trying to figure out what my next car will be. I’m torn between the Legacy, Forester, Integra and RDX. The issue for me with the Acuras is the required premium gas. The Forester’s one engine choice is annoying, and hopefully Subaru will fix this by having the hybrid option but I won’t hold my breath. The Legacy truly seems to be the best of both worlds, turbo engine, great luxury features but the hold back is that it’s really become a grandpa car. Subaru really didn’t do anything to make it sporty, which I assume was to protect the WRX sales. It ls frustrating because Honda and Toyota have been doing a great job with the Accord and Camry, so I hate the argument that people just want SUVs. Also, my best guess is that the Forester will move production to the Indiana plan.
Our first Subaru was a 2016 Legacy. Love Subaru since.First car I ever sat in comfortably. Gave the car to my daughter and we bought a Forester which is a lot roomier for better for carrying cargo and for ingress and egress. We're getting old.
You had the Legacy Made in USA... The Forester All model up to 2024 were Manufactured in Japan, there is a slight touch in "Final Details" and overall QA/QC for those #J... We are waiting to see how the new Legislature/Regulation for Cars/CRV (like CrossTrek) from 2026 and beyond before getting our last Subaru!... Had a Legacy 1992 until last year so, we like what we have seen in the #J --VIN.
Really pleased with my 2017 legacy 2.5 premium. 29k on the clock and I don’t intend to part with it anytime soon. So far so good. The only repair has been a right front axle seal which was weeping and not dripping. The dealer took the mileage into consideration and all I paid for were the parts. 18$ and I was on my way. Subaru knows how to build customer loyalty. Like all things good or bad nothing lasts forever.
I absolutely love ❤ my 2015 Legacy, got it at about 25k miles and now I have about 123k miles on it and still runs like a gem. Although it’s built on the same platform as the Outback I will never buy an Outback, it’s a station wagon to me. To me the Legacy is for the streets and I love it on the open roads. I was hoping that the 2025 version brought back the “hood scoop.” I preferred the Legacy over the Impreza because it had more space, but I may have to reconsider now. Will definitely miss the Legacy out of the line up for sure. 😢
In our area the Legacy is very popular. I see at least one every day (other than the one I drive) and often have to look at license plate numbers when I retrieve mine from a parking lot because there is more than one in the same color. A neighbor on the same block also has one.
We got our first new car in 25 years and my wife wanted the Outback. While we dislike the climate control center console touch screen adjustment system, the driver monitoring system and engine cut off fuel saver. Otherwise it is a decent car. For an SUV, we're getting 31-32 mpg actual measured mileage.
Bought my 2017 3.6R Legacy and LOVE it. The naturally aspirated 6 is smooth as silk and wonderful for all driving but shines at long trips. I was disappointed they swapped the 4cyl turbo lately. IMO it outshined Toyota/Honda and was cheaper with 4wd. Was T-Boned by a Ford Expedition and only had outer door panel replacement due to the structural design. If you have a sore back just take a seat for a few minutes and chances are, you'll feel better. Maybe give customers an affordable small truck?
I bought my ‘24 Legacy Limited in January after trading in my ‘11 and prior to that - a 2000. I went to this car after having one of the 1st Camry’s offered with 4WD or AWD - I forget which, but it wasn’t full time) I still see a lot of older model Legacy’s but I don’t think I’ve seen more than one other late model on the road. I’m not really a wagon / SUV woman, I prefer an AWD sedan. It looks nice, gets me through the winter elements and doesn’t break the bank. I guess my next car will be another Camry 😢
After 2 1/2 frustrating years I finally got rid of my 2021 Legacy Touring XT. I like the seats and the sound system. I hated the constant buzzes and rattles from multiple places throughout the cabin (sunroof, dash, doors), the irritating driver focus system and worst of all, the poor drivability. The CVT and the turbo did not mesh well and at in town speeds it was constantly jerking and hesitating on acceleration. Of course the dealer said there was nothing they could do and there were no updates that might help. The only time it was reasonably smooth is if I really feather footed the throttle. Come down on it about mid way and it would hesitate and jerk with the fake shifts. It wasn't just me - a friend drove it while I was in the car and the first thing he said was "What's wrong with the throttle?". Plus it was a gas hog in town - high teens and low 20s. The naturally aspirated engine doesn't have that drivability issue nearly as much if at all (drove an Outback loaner while an oil pan leak was being fixed - that happened at 5K miles). Only time I really enjoyed it was crossing the country last summer. It ate up the miles and at constant highway speeds it wasn't an issue. What did I replace it with? A certified 2023 Hyundai Tucson Limited. It may be slower, but it doesn't have any squeaks, buzzes or rattles like the Legacy at the same miles, it's quiet, it rides well, gets much better city MPG and the traditional 8 speed automatic is so smooth compared to the Legacy's damned CVT. Yeah, first last and only Subaru I'll ever get.
Have a 2016 Legacy 6MT and would hate to part with it. After nearly 40 years of driving Peugeot 505s, it took a while for my bum to get used to the hard seats, and I miss the Euro lights, handbrake and versatile HVAC on the Pugs, but the 'Ru on Michelin Pilot Sports in summer and X-Ice in the winter is a very capable and under-appreciated gem. Also have a 2021 Outback XT which has all the scoot I will ever need. Waiting for the Outback hybrid.
Started my Subaru journey with a '94 Legacy Outback. Blue, red or green only color options. Bought through a Ford dealership because Subaru didn't have those set up yet. Love the history video Alex!
I had 2 Legacies. The first was the first year they introduced it, and it was a lemon (I learned my lesson about ordering the car in its first year), and I had a 1993. It was one of the best cars I've owned.
It was the most affordable vehicle that could provide up to 650 miles of range with its wonderful 18.5-gal fuel tank... now days you'll be lucky if you can get 500 miles per tank. My father had 3 Legacy 2000-2005-2011, the last one was simply amazing even in the nastiest Canadian winters. The numbers don't lie though, it literally 10/1 in sales compared to their station wagon. The Legacy outsells the WRX, BRZ & Solterra. Why not discontinue those other 3 first?
I traded my Legacy in for a Crosstrek two months ago. I didn’t like how the Legacy front trim would get caught on sidewalks if I parked too close to them. The Crosstrek is awesome, though I think I should have gone for either the Forester or Outback for the extra storage space in the back. If I didn’t have kids needing to sit in the back seat, it wouldn’t matter. Dropping the seats does make for a lot more room.
I have a 2014 ram 1500 Laramie. I just bought an Outback six weeks ago, because I needed something smaller for those times driving around the city. I'm keeping the truck, cuz sometimes you need that height for trucking things around in the rear bed. I think if Subaru released a small truck like the Baja/BRAT, I could probably get rid of my truck and the Outback for just that.
I still miss the Legacy wagon. I've owned two; (95 & 05), both stick to boot! I think that at least part of the dismal sales could be attributed to the lack of advertising. I can't watch five minutes of TV without seeing an add for a Crosstrek, Outback, or Forester, juxtaposed with a song from some random band that I've never heard of, but I can't remember the last time I saw an add for a Legacy. On a side note; I currently own a 2017 Forester Limited which I adore!
Alex I love your videos, in fact I used one of your videos to update the infotainment system of my 2020 Legacy touring, however we can agree to disagree on the reason why Subaru discontinue the legacy. Here are my reasons. The legacy had nothing that set it apart anymore since other manufacturers recognized the benefits of AWD! ( Toyota Nissan Hyundai) all have done it even though they are not standard like the legacy. Now the Legacy has no hybrid and a not so favorable CVT transmission which all of the above mentioned are offering with the legacy’s once unique AWD. So I believe Subaru lack of money or attention to their competitors is the reason for the Legacy’s demise. Thank you Alex and continue the great job. God bless!
Subaru wants to go ALL wagon.... it's already the queen of wagons in the auto market.... since Volvo is out of the wagon business, Subaru wants to conquer it and colonize it so it can monopolize the sector....
I bought my first Subaru last summer. Yup, it is a 20202 Legacy Limited and I like it. The car is the perfect height for my Mom to get in and out of. The Forester and the Outback are too high for her. It is easier for her to get into and out of a car. I guess I will have to look at other manufacturers for cars. The Impreza was nice and all, but it was not so easy to put in a wheelchair and a walker. The Legacy handles that just fine.
A major factor is probably CAFE regulations. If a vehicle has over 8" of ground clearance it is classed as a light truck by CAFE and thus has to make a lower fuel economy target. Since increasing fuel economy is expensive it's easier for companies to raise the ground clearance of their vehicles. Ford has taken this to extreme and has discontinued all cars but the Mustang and I expect that Subaru is well on the way to doing the same with the Impreza probably the next to go leaving the BRZ has Subaru's only car.
Don't forget the WRX, especially when Subaru just recently released a TR trim aimed at enthusiast (and also meaning they still actively develop that model lineup).
That new WRX is a joke of it's former self. I've got a 2020 STI . So much more advanced with it's DCCD and purposes built suspension. So disappointed in the decisions Subaru is making. And Yes much of the decisions are based on the new CAFE standards, and the crazy EPA and it's new rules
Had an 09, 16 and 22, and loved them all. Would have loved to see them drop the OB suspension in it as a special edition homage to the Outback Sedan. I think that might actually have bumped sales some for people who want a sedan but some extra ride-height... Probably not enough to justify keeping it around, but some. I'm sad to see it go, but know it just wasn't worth keeping in production at 1/6th the sales of 3 models individually and less than 5% total for the brand.
Weird that you would say the Outback is much longer than the Legacy. They're within about an inch of each other in length. Interior space is also almost exactly the same for the passenger compartment.
People often think that all SUVs are big because of the outside appearance. Once you take a look inside, it's another story. We love our Forester (and our daughter's former Legacy), but for cargo room, you can't beat our Odyssey!
If you had bought the Legacy Lsi, 1992 Model, and with Winter Tires/Rims OEM, which ─ only R15, you would consider it like Legacy Wilderness. Our family used the Legacy 1992 Model to have run on Wheat Fields for Engineering Surveys works.. Changing Oil 🛢 🛢 We could go under without lifting the Legacy. Much, much higher clearance than the 2001 Legacy 2.5 Turbo! Based on some Japanese Engineers, from Toyoda, that they Subaru would make the Hybrids with Subaru Impreza using Base Engines 2000cc ─ like those Hybrids RAV4; we don't need a Legacy, buy the WRX with Customed Mod Leaf's and Springs ─ we will have a Wilderness Version with R18 Rims 😂 😂
in the Netherlands sinds 2018 no Legacy anymore only Outback 2.5 (i have the 2005 3.0R premium 180 kW (245 pk or hp)with petrol price 2.25 euro's/Liter for premium) and we have XV/Crosstrek(2024) 2.0 mild hybride and the forester 2.0 mild hybride and the Solterra full electric. good videos
Love my 2017 Legacy. I had thought to buy another soon but hesitated (a little bit about looking to stretch out the lifespan of my current vehicle and a lot about waiting to see if Subaru would begin to offer tactile controls again as opposed to jamming everything into a touchscreen on the latest models). Now we get this news.....😒 I guess I will check out the Outback or more likely look elsewhere for a sedan. Bummer....
I had a 2010 Legacy and kept it for 10 yrars. Had I not wantwd an Outback so badly, I woukd have gladly bought anotjer Legacy. Very stylish and smooth car. I always notice one when I see it on the road.
I have 2 Legacies. A 2010 that I traded for the 2013. I still have the 2013 with only 90k miles on it and still running so well. Will I get the last model? Hmmm…. we will see. It depends on the price.
I’m new to Subaru, bought a 21 Outback and I love it. When are they coming out with plug in hybrid models? If they do, I will be in the queue to get one.
Hi Alex, thanks for the Legacy info. I had a Legacy and it was a very well made car , but it was one of the most boring and dull looking cars I ever owned. That said I'm sure no one is even going to notice that they stopped making it. The latest model looks like an 8 year old car. If only they would have restyled it. Make it look a little different. Oh well, I guess if I want a car I will have to buy a Toyota or Honda. Keep the info coming, I really like what you do. Thank you, from Patrick in NJ
Bring back the Justy, I had an 87 that I put 192,000 on the original clutch. Also a GL-10, it had air suspension issue. Now on ‘17 Forester, maybe have to look a hybrid. Not all that interested in all electric. I needed range and like faster refueling.
Outback and legacy same size cars showing seat in outback moved 4+ inches forward in the video and saying it got more room is not helpful .. The only extra room in outback is from different roofline and rear gate...
I think the sedan market is also so competitive with so many other auto manufacturers making cool sedans. And the Legacy just seems kind of boring, like your grandpas sedan. LOL. Love your videos Alex-keep up the great work!
Honest question, to those who still drive a sedan or a lower car, does it not bother you you cannot see past the car in front of you to gauge better how to drive? Not knowing for certain if you should pass them because they are driving too slow or not knowing they have no one in front of them.. how about, have you noticed everyone ignores you are driving and continually cut you off as if you were not there? Has it occurred that they being so high can’t even see you on their rear view mirror? Those are all reasons that made me change to an SUV
I simply am at a safe distance where I can still see in front of the next vehicle, that's also the truck driver in me and the habit of keeping a safe following distance
My family has had four (2) legacy sedans, and I just purchased a 2024 Outback, but do miss the Legacy. I hope they replace it with something else or it looks like after about 25 years, Subaru is forcing me to switch brands. I like the Impreza, but it is too small for me. Fingers crossed since my Outback lease ends in three (3) years.
If the Legacy came with a liftback or sportback hatch, i think it would been a better selling car.. After that, raising the ground clearance would have been an easier decision and opportunity to follow through on the Subaru brand for a limited off road vehicle with decent cargo capacity when compared with other awd sedans. I have been considering on getting a 2025 Legacy Sport to replace my 2011 Forester Limited.
Overall question for your Alex - Did Subaru do away with the C-Light Daytime Running lights on all models now for 2024? My new 2024 Outback Touring XT seems to use the low beam headlamps and I just saw a new 2024 WRX on the road that appeared to be the same 😟
The Market Decides. I get why. With increasing flood issues, a few extra inches of ground clearance (SUV vs sedan) can make all the difference. Like station wagon and minivan models before it, the sedan's day is waning. Still love my Outback Wilderness; drives like a high-tech sedan, not an older truck. Test drive a new one if you doubt it. And yes, Alex, this makes room for a new model hybrid or even EV model production.
Oh, also: Legacy fans who like either buying and then driving into the ground, or leasing, may very well come out ahead financially getting a 2025 Legacy and driving a very hard bargain on price. Yes, leasing too: you can bargain on the lease rate. Just don't expect to buy and then trade it in on a new model and come out ahead. Discontinued models typically don't do well in trade.
Do the moonroofs leak? Why do they insist on making moonroofs? It's a serious issue ...point if failure? And what are the options for divers to lock the vehicle? And why didn't Subaru make Automatic Rear Braking standard in ALL models?!? Please reply
I've had 3 Legacys: a 2018, and two 2022s (totaled one after 10 days). We decided to trade the last one in for a 2023 Outback about a year ago, and that's probably going to be our last car.
hi i have a quick question the baja or the brat seeing this year they are coming out but when I go to the dealer .they tell me that those car or truck are not coming out. i live in California I own a 2021 crostrek wish I love but for my work I can use the baja or the brat can you. please tell me what is the truth
I am so sad to hear this. I had a 2005 Legacy 2.5 GT and it was an awesome car!! I am going to get either a Sport or Touring XT before they stop making them. Which would you recommend?
If you want more luxury, go with the Touring. It has nappa leather, power folding mirrors, ventilated seats, memory sets, etc. Where the Sport has cloth and not as many options.
What I would like to know is when are more full-size sedans i.e. Toyota Honda, etc. going to come out with an all-wheel-drive engine. I know the Toyota Camry has an all-wheel-drive option, but it is a small electric motor and I don’t trust it. I would prefer to buy from Subaru, all-wheel-drive master. My favourite sedan in terms of luxury and looks is the Honda Accord and if it was all wheel drive, I would be there in a second given that I only have 12,000 km on my 2023 outback. It will be around for a while yet I hope.
Subaru has lost their mind. Not only do all the cars look the same (interior and exterior) now they are only going to have hatchbacks in the lineup. They all look the same just different sizes. I guess my current legacy will be my last Subaru.
I think these days, a sedan has to be luxury to gain market share, and Subaru isn't really known for that. But those Legacy turbo models with the duel tailpipes sure looked sleek (never got the chance to drive one, though).
They need to remake it into an x6, arkana type thing. Widen the body, give it a lift and make an off road sedan. Subaru is such trend setters. They would nail something like that
my guess is poor sales as even something like the Lexus ES sells 10-15,000 more units per year than the Legacy though it cost 20k more as its a Luxury car which debuted the same year the Legacy did 1989 something like 1.8 ES models have sold in 35 years half the time its taken for the Chevrolet Corvette to sell in similar numbers the sticker price of a Lexus ES in 1990 was 22,000 today it starts at 43,200 where as for example a Cadillac Seville STS started at 36,320 in 1990 where as if the model were revived now as an electric car it would cost almost 90,000 new. a regular Seville of that model year depending on condition is worth between $1,549-$9,000 granted its also currently the 2nd best selling nameplate in Cadillac History with 978,000 units sold between 1975-2004 granted the first 16,355 sold were sold from April-early sept 1975 from the New York International Auto show and early Sept before the 76 model year started
One thing you don't mention Alex is that the Legacy typically gets better mileage than the Outback or Forester. Being lower to the ground helps in this regard. My son has a 2017 Legacy - it's an awesome car. I have a 2017 Outback, also excellent. But the Legacy typically gets 5 to 8 mpg better than my Outback. The SUV lovers will be happy to see the Legacy's demise, but I think the sedan customers will be sorry to see it go.
The Legacy has been around forever and its sad news, but its discontinuation has been a long time coming starting with the reduction of trims. Most dealerships MAYBE have 1 or 2 on the lots 😢
I always wanted a Legacy if I emigrated but looks like it might not happen now. I’d be doing a lot of highway mileage so didn’t want the mountain climbing or fuel consumption of a brick with the SUVs 😢 Also wanted a covered trunk if I’m carrying expensive stuff that I didn’t want on show. I’ve had hatch and sedan STis over here in the UK 🇬🇧 and don’t need a ‘Chelsea Tractor’ as the SUVs are known that manufacturers say we all want… I get the sales figures don’t help. They released a sedan legacy in the uk many years ago then killed if off after a couple of months as they said nobody wanted it compared to the estate version - we hardly had chance to get them… 😢 RIP Legacy
It makes so much sense to me for Toyota to re-badge the new Camry as a Legacy just like the BRZ/GR86 and Solterra/BZ4X. The Camry will have optional AWD so they would obviously make that not optional on the Lagacy. The new Camry is supposed to be so good that the Subaru would not be able to compete against it anyway.
Why Subaru doesn’t have a WRX version of the Crosstrek is beyond me… possibly for avg emissions over the entire lineup. Doesn’t need to be as intense as the old Focus RS or GR Corolla. Perhaps it’d create too much competition with the WRX?
What do you know about the 2025 hybrid Forester. I've been waiting a year to buy a rebuild but they waited another year from the posted plan. Should I consider the hybrid or is it too new?
Can we stop calling them SUV’s? The Outback, Impreza, Crosstours, foresters are NOT suvs. They’re wagons, saloon, touring, etc. We’re on our 6th Subaru, great cars, but they are station wagons, period. Plus you can’t compare a sedan against a wagon, they are different vehicles so I disagree with your comparison. The legacy stopped being fun awhile ago, this is foreshadowing the WRX. That will be gone soon also imo
Thank you for another good video, but I still am not going to call the Outback an "SUV" because it does not fit the definition of an SUV which is a truck with a covered bed and added back seats, passenger train station wagons are long wheelbase car bodies with extended cargo space and extra passenger room to carry people and luggage from the train station back to the hotel, I know Subaru corporation wants to label Outback as an SUV, but I suspect that's because SUV's are popular and maybe Subaru marketing thinks they're going to sell more of them if they label them something that they are not. In my opinion, Outback is an extended car with a lifted suspension and did not start out as a truck like an SUV .
I just bought the 24 Premium. Had a Legacy previously. It was the best car ever, and gave that one away with over 300,000 miles.
Sadly most Americans think they need a large SUV to go to the grocery store.
That is positively impressive, having over 300,000 miles. What year was your legacy?
@@martinr8278 It was a 2003 and I donated it in 2016. It got me safely through some miserable New England winters.
I also have a 2024 Subaru Legacy Premium in cosmic blue pearl
I had my 2015 Legacy Premium for over 300,000 miles and gave it to my nephew. I never had one thing go wrong, except for routine maintenance. A mechanic at my Subaru dealership wanted to buy it from me, because it was in such good condition.
I’ve had a legacy since 2000 and love them. Currently leasing a 2024 and after hearing this I plan to buy it at the end of lease. Hate SUV’s!
The Legacy was a groundbreaking car. I remember when they came out and it was such a huge step up from the Loyale.
I’m absolutely a “sedan preferred” owner! I have owned 5 different Camrys! I’ve always liked the Legacy sedan! Nuts! I’m sorry they haven’t sold that well! I appreciate your channel Alex! BRING BACK THE BAJA!!!
They should, but I wish one of the automakers would make a small truck without 4 doors, and give it a longer bed. I have a 1987 Ford Ranger with a 7 foot bed, I'd love to get something newer but nobody makes a compact pickup anymore with a useful bed.
There is a VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY MICROSCOPIC Chance of getting the baja To come back
Wow! I traded in my 2011 Legacy Limited in 2019 with only 275,000 miles. Great car.
3.6 premium, nice, should last you many years, i chose a 2018 Premium 2.5L for economy and she uses 6.3 liters per 100Km.
@Wildebeest7 cheers mate! Much appreciated 😁
I love my 22 limited xt; it’s so comfortable and powerful
I am heartbroken! Leaving Subaru after 35 yrs of being a Subie! Hopping to Toyota for sure!
you should consider Mazda, they are building some awesome cars/suv's
Glad you were able to get an Outback at least! I have one myself and it has been great
@@alexpmoyes I got the premier and it is comfortable and luxurious
I too have the XT, it’s fast. I wish they would do a Crosstrek XT. The Crosstrek is so slow it’s scary to drive.
We never got this generation or legacy (it s called the liberty here) in Australia. It was discontinued with the previous generation
Proud owner of a 2016 Subaru Legacy which I bought new. It is a phenomenal car. As consumer reports put it “it rides better than some luxury cars”
Love the history video Alex!
that's too bad, I love mine but I'm not ready to give it up for a new one because mine is roomier!
My aunt has an 2018 Legacy and has always been a great car too her and me! RIP Legacy, best American Japanese Sedan... Memorable
Just curious how is the Soltera selling. I never see any on the road. I see a ton of Outback’s, Forrester, and a few Acents.
My first Subaru was a 2010 Legacy which I kept until 20123 when traded in on a Crosstrek. Very reliable car and met all my needs. Sorry to see it go.
Interior space is also almost exactly the same for the passenger compartment.
yep, LEG 191.1 inches WB 108.3 inches and Outback 191.9 inches WB is smaller 108.1 inches due to change in geometry from the lift
People often think that all SUVs are big because of the outside appearance. Once you take a look inside, it's another story. We love our Forester (and our daughter's former Legacy), but for cargo room, you can't beat our Odyssey!
No! I was waiting for the Legacy Wilderness.
😂😂😂
We can make it happen 😂
My 2021 Outback Limited is my do all utility work ride. Flipped down back seat makes this ride into another level. 💯
in the Netherlands sinds 2018 no Legacy anymore only Outback 2.5 (i have the 2005 3.0R premium 180 kW (245 pk or hp)with petrol price 2.25 euro's/Liter for premium) and we have XV/Crosstrek(2024) 2.0 mild hybride and the forester 2.0 mild hybride and the Solterra full electric.
I had a 2006 Legacy GT. No issues, Loved it!!!
I have 2 Legacies. A 2010 that I traded for the 2013. I still have the 2013 with only 90k miles on it and still running so well. Will I get the last model? Hmmm…. we will see. It depends on the price.
My 2003 Legacy was an absolute legend car took her places she shouldn't have been 😊 she now is my nephews!
I have a 2019 Premium and love it. Kicks a$$ in wet and slick conditions.
I bought my first Subaru in 1986, I think. I don't remember the model, but I really liked it
I think the sedan market is also so competitive with so many other auto manufacturers making cool sedans.
Nissan is also doing the Same with the Altima. I guess adding AWD wasn’t enough to keep people in a sedan.
I love my 2018 Subaru Impreza hatchback. Island blue and also paid off!
I have a Subaru legacy 2011 and love it.
I have enjoyed the time with the 2022 Legacy that we have. With the 2.5L engine compared the Crosstrek premium with the 2.0L in the 2019 model.
Does that mean they'll stop making parts?
Do the moonroofs leak? Why do they insist on making moonroofs? It's a serious issue ...point if failure? And what are the options for divers to lock the vehicle? And why didn't Subaru make Automatic Rear Braking standard in ALL models?!? Please reply
I love my 2013 Legacy Sport. I want a new one so I will get a new one this year. But I'm holding on to the one I have now.
I've had 3 Legacys: a 2018, and two 2022s (totaled one after 10 days). We decided to trade the last one in for a 2023 Outback about a year ago, and that's probably going to be our last car.
great video Alex, thanks 👍
hi i have a quick question the baja or the brat seeing this year they are coming out but when I go to the dealer .they tell me that those car or truck are not coming out. i live in California I own a 2021 crostrek wish I love but for my work I can use the baja or the brat can you. please tell me what is the truth
Makes sense didn't realize they sell about as many wrxs and that's a much more sporty car.
I found out about this, n got 4k off msrp on my 2024 legacy, rip wrx and legacy😢
I am so sad to hear this. I had a 2005 Legacy 2.5 GT and it was an awesome car!! I am going to get either a Sport or Touring XT before they stop making them. Which would you recommend?
Touring xt absolute comfort
Touring XT for sure if you can find one. May have to order one.
@@johns.3933absolutely you even get a CD player if that interests you. My 21 yr old son was appalled they would include this but I do use it👍
Subaru has lost their mind.
I have the XT w/turbo. Very nice
Mann it's a nice ride bro. Especially the 2024 Sport. If they market it right they would sale like hot cakes.
Love your videos, Alex!❤
Always an eye opener! 🙂👍🇺🇸
Thank you! 😊
I still think of my Outback as a wagon rather than an SUV lol.
A shame that they will retire the Legacy because they think nobody wants it, but won’t offer the Baja that people are clamoring for.
My daughter in-law just bought one, she loves it
The Legacy has been around forever and its sad news, but its discontinuation has been a long time coming starting with the reduction of trims. Most dealerships MAYBE have 1 or 2 on the lots 😢
I wish they would have kept the Legacy and made a Wilderness model of it. Although, the Forester Wilderness is on my list to buy though...
I was holding out for a real Sport model Legacy with WRX suspension, a hot engine, Recaro, Brembos, etc.
They released a sedan legacy in the uk many years ago then killed if off after a couple of months as they said nobody wanted it compared to the estate version - we hardly had chance to get them… 😢
RIP Legacy
Awwwe don’t get rid of the legacy! Get rid of the Impreza and don’t look back! I love the legacy. Just don’t get rid of the WRX. I want one someday.
What about the Legacy wagon? When was that discontinued? I lived my '95 legacy wagon.
Personally very sad to see this happen, I am on my third right now a 24 GT and I love it
It makes so much sense to me for Toyota to re-badge the new Camry as a Legacy just like the BRZ/GR86 and Solterra/BZ4X.
I love my 2018 legacy 2.5i limited aways liked the legacy
What do you know about the 2025 hybrid Forester. I've been waiting a year to buy a rebuild but they waited another year from the posted plan. Should I consider the hybrid or is it too new?
Subaru missed the mark styling wise on the legacy, considering the Camry is the best selling car, 4 door sedans are still in demand
The crosstrek is based off the Impreza just more ground clearance
What is the order time for a Legacy Touring XT? My local dealers have no inventory. Thanks.
I like Legacy wagons but they are discontinued!
That's the outback lol
Where does a WRX fit in to the line up?
