I ordered the ranger nano elrs module to have all protocols on one controller. I've never owned a Radiomaster edge tx elrs controller but I'm very excited to learn all about it. I've learned so much watching your videos on repeat while diving into the transmitter settings. I've quickly caught on how to create logical switches and special functions but I can't figure out how to add a cruise control on a dial. Using p1 or p2 as throttle cruise control would be awesome. I used a pwm firmware for the rx, and am Arduino for the brains of the radio, along with a elrs jr module. It works great, when it pairs, bit out has trouble pairing and I'm not sure why. 3:02 - Timers are used for more than just battery voltage. You might want to practice for a specific amount of time that correlates to the length of a normal race. You might want to check the temperature after a known time to see if gearing needs to change. You might want to use it as a rudimentary lap timing system. You might want to use it in the middle of the race so you know how much time is left in case you need to make a last ditch attempt to pass. You might not even have a battery, some vehicles are powered by fuel.

    How do these custom setup effect different models? Can you customize generic settings for every model, then have model specific settings? Also how do you switch models, i heard you can drive 2 things at the same time. This could be a problem as alot of times at a race you mite finish a race with one car and right after drive a different class, planning on ordering one of these soon!

    • @dr0n3droid
      @dr0n3droid 9 месяцев назад +2

      Short answer is yes, you can do anything you've ever thought of doing with a radio. EdgeTx has a fairly steep learning curve, but the possibilities are endless.
      Press MDL, scroll to the model you want, select it. Only do that though if you have a custom throttle rate/expo that is model specific. A touchy throttle on one car for example.
      If your models are basically the same throttle/steer, bind them to the same model. If you power them at once, they'll both go. Probably don't do that in the race.

    • @slappomatthew
      @slappomatthew 9 месяцев назад +2

      you can select different models with the model button. most of the settings are per model, although If you want them to be similar you can clone one model and edit it as needed for the next model so your programming is copied over. in the drone world (largely what this software was made for) you do a lot of setup for each model in the flight controller so you can have all your drones bound to one model setup and they are just all always active IE if you powered 2 drones at the same time the Tx would control both. this is less relevant in the surface world as you have different EPA and Trims for each model. but other than that most of the settings would be the same. so setup your first car ( model 1) and then when you goto setup model 2 you can copy it, name it model 2, setup your trims and bind and you are good to go.

    Great video as usual. Here are a couple of notes from a long-time surface guy who just switched over to the MT12.
    The Start/Stop timer is really for lap timing for the guys who are racing on a track. It's a pretty useful feature if you are practicing without a race timer system. The one issue is you really should have a way to reset the timer easily, too. That can easily be done by programming one of the other switches as a lap timer reset, but it would have been nice if that could have been set up by default.
    I've been using battery telemetry on my surface radios for years though FlySky Rx's. I just posted a short showing how I set up my low battery warning using my existing FlySky Rx telemetry. In cars, we usually set up our Low-Voltage cut-off at ~3.2 V/cell since we don't have to worry about our cars/trucks falling out of the sky when our batteries die. I set up my Low voltage warning at ~3.3V/cell to give me enough time to drive back to my "pit" area without worrying about having to do the walk-of-shame to go retrieve my rig.

    MOAR content like this for the MT12 Pleazzze! I'm just setting mine up and this one video alone helped me more than anything else so far. Now to figure out Lua Script to make the LEDs pink or purple or orange or whatever to denote what model I'm bound to at a glance- just like my old fav Turnigy Evolution ;P ;P

    Only reason I won’t pick this up yet is because it doesn’t have three-way switches near the steering.

    Josh do you ever dable in LUA stuff? We could surely use a lua for anti lock braking and traction control (opposite to anti lock )
    You would need to control length of brake on travel and duration of that traveled length and it needs to have ajustble start points as well as a curve to control its intensity. This works stellar for 2wd stuff to control lockup in corners and such as well as 4wd nitro for cornering to increase your speed entering corners by having steering while braking hard.
    Great job by the way on your MT12 videos I'll be watching and learning something😊

    In rock crawling competition, the timer is helpful as you typically have 6 minutes to complete a course before you get a DNF.

    Normally on surface radios ch1 is steering & ch2 is the throttle. This order can be changed in the 1st System menu

    These videos are very helpful. I am trying to decide if want to pull the trigger on one for sure. It is overkill for trail trucks & rock crawling I do but it also looks like a TX I could use for years. Thank you for sharing

      it has all the things you could ever grow into at a budget radio price. It's pretty high quality, it can bind to tons of receivers, has extremely long range and has the same if not even more functionality and
      customizability of a top end radio all while having more channels than most radios under $1k

    • @JoshuaBardwell
      @JoshuaBardwell  7 месяцев назад

      I'm not sure I understand the outcome that you're asking for? All receiver protocols will control multiple receivers if powered up at the same time. The answer is, don't plug jn 2 different cars at the same time of they are bound to the same controller.

    • @BigWillieFPV
      @BigWillieFPV 7 месяцев назад

      @@JoshuaBardwell yeah understand same as ghost, I thought maybe I hadn’t bound properly, in the setup I choose one car bound to receiver 01 and the other to 02 and thought they’d had some sort of model match, thanks for clearing that up. First time using elrs

    Joshua, have you been able to determine how to setup trim button for the steering? Really like the new radio and the content you created. Did you find a source document or resource online to help you learn the content in your video?

    • @brow318
      @brow318 9 месяцев назад

      Figured it out. The trim steps were so fine I was not able to see the channel move the steering servo. All good. Keep up the great content.

      I set the trim steps to medium or coarse. You can do it in the Model Setup screen.

    When those radios appeared before Haloween I was intruiged but as more as I watch reviews about it I have to say that I will probably never use one of those. For RC crawling its way to complicated .

      @power21100 9 месяцев назад +1

      No its not, i literally got this for my furitek cayman pro with 4 wheel steering. I can set it to turn all 4 wheels with one switch that's linked to the steering, or flip another switch to turn it off and just use front steering or flip another switch to manually control the rear steering with the pot.
      There's no such thing as complicated if you wanna learn and try.
