So glad Google stuck around with Pixel, even though they clearly had (having) hard time breaking into this insanely competitive smartphone market.
More so, I really like the last point; Tensor chip will be seen in essentially every Google product within few years. This would be a brilliant move on Google's part. This will enable greater influence on Android market and maximum profit from keeping and building Android base.
I mean, the A-series sells quite well in Europe. But yeah, we need more people on Pixels
Google makes an insane amount of money licensing Android to other device makers. They get paid for every other Android device. They intentionally release Pixel only in areas with a high ratio of iPhone users to lure them to Android. It would make no sense for them to release it in areas already saturated with Android users because they are already making their money from licensing. Pixel production is intentionally kept low, they aren't trying to be best sellers.
When Marques says "first generation" I feel like I'm in the future.

I missed Pixel 4 and 5 because I'm still rocking the 3, but it's a little beat up and this makes me much more excited for the Pixel 6. I was a diehard LG V-Series user for a long time, I had the V10, V20, V30, and V60, but since the Pixel I haven't looked back. I came for the camera and stayed for the design and tech.
I'm with you here.... I've been rocking the pixel 3xl since it came out but have been patiently waiting for the 6 pro to come out... The 3xl is still holding out great, but I'm looking forward to this!
Me too, Ive been wanting a phone around the same size as my 3xl and hopefully the 6 pro is around there. I felt like the 4 and 5 weren't really something I was looking for.
Still rolling with an LG v30, haven't seen a reason to upgrade until this year. With LG out and most android phones not peaking my interest, the purist in me wants the new Xperia, but the experience of a Pixel could be worth it. Gonna wait to see how the 6 and the Xperia 5 III compare.
Same, I'm still ricking the Pixel 2 and was about to buy the 5 until the sorta sage went out of stock and they quietly discontinued it while I was waiting for more stock. I'll be trying to get a pro this time.
You definitely didn't miss anything with the Pixel 4. Voice text isn't great, when it first came out there was an issue with the audio recording on apps like IG and Snapchat, and they took away the fingerprint feature that I loved from the Pixel 2. Also, my assistant only works when I don't need it too lol! I'm excited to see how the 6 turns out. But I am also hesitant because I want to see what everyone thinks of it before I go out and upgrade. Maybe the next one will be better lol.
I also think that Google will try the Apple way of ecosystem building. I see their chromebooks being powered by a Google chip and this in combination with cranked up marketing and surprisingly even more data privacy will boost their sales
You’re forgetting Apple is still all in house. Google chromebooks aren’t made solely by Google. And the very few that are, are the expensive ones. Given the price entry to get a pixel. It would be a hard sell to convince the person who drop money on reasonable price phone to drop double that on a chrome book.

Not sure about the cost part - For Qualcomm, economies of scale will drive down price while Google won't have the same luxury given the numbers they will produce
Only way for Qualcomm to drive down cost is automation.
They don't have economies of scale as the chips are manufactured by foundries. Qualcolm only designs the chips

The part about pricing, I don’t knowing that add up. Having a team of engineers to develop a new chip is not cheap, and it will all depend on how good they will be. Take exynos as an example. Samsung didn’t go through with it. I know that the fact that Google own android and the chip can (and will) make a difference, but we’ll have to wait and see. Apple took many years to acomplish the optimization between hard and software that they have today… Bur I hope Google make it. The more good tech we have, the best it is for everyone

All mobile processors are M1 style, the M1 is based on ARM
