First time I stumbled onto your videos. I loved seeing the crabs in their natural element! Usually I only see them in crab traps, so this was a super interesting video. Great job!
Hi Lauren, thanks for sharing, now I learned that sea cucumber are eatable and taste like squeed, good to now. And also the juvenile crabs looks like stone, amazing !
Eldon is such a chill guy. Would have never expected that kind of meat is in a sea cucumber. I'm sure Max's sauce made it super good! Looking forward to the next one.
Lauren, Ive said it before about your other episodes, but this one takes the cake! As I was watching, I was looking forward to the dungeness crab cook part, but the cucumbers section was freaking EPIC!! I had no idea that these guys would be edible. This was such a fun educational episode! Im really glad for you that the wet suit took care of your wants and needs. But most importantly THIS EPISODE WAS FANTASTIC!
Lauren, I get these crabs to eat once in a while, they are always good. I visited Alaska once for a fishing and small game hunting vacation. Terrific! The chef prepared the Ptarmigan and before eating it, I asked what it tasted like, expecting chicken for the answer. Well, the answer was Steak! Believe it or not, it tasted exactly like Steak. It was great and totally unexpected. We also took a trip for Halibut, then later Salmon, Lake Trout and lots of other fish. Great trip! Also stopped for King Crab and followed the foot steps of Man vs Food. Your videos are fantastic and very enjoyable. Thanks so much’
You are definitely an adventurous person, love your attitude, not many people are as open as you, trying new things to eat and diving in cold climates, not sure if I would have eaten a sea cucumber! This video was the highlight of my week thanks for taking us along!👍😻
Thank you so much!! I'm so glad you enjoyed my video! You should definitely try sea cucumber! I probably wouldn't eat any from tropical waters, but if you get a chance to try ones from the Pacific, I highly suggest you give it a go!
Well done Lauren. You know one of my all time favs cooked so many different ways is dungeness crab. I boil it in sea water too which is a great way to capture the true sweetness of dungees. Great video again and cheers to more sea cucumbers and spaghetti guts to swallow.

Amazing video. The box crab is something I have never seen before. And when you guys were cutting up the sea cucumbers, I thought it was disgusting but the meat you get from them is amazing. The dish you cooked the sea cucumbers looked delicious.
Another great episode! Here in San Diego, we have plenty of sea cucumbers, but the thought of eating them has never crossed my mind....sounds like they are pretty tasty though.
Thank you! If you have parental controls on your internet or phone you probably won't see all of my videos. Apparently RUclips thinks women who wear bikinis is "sexual content" and blocks my videos from showing.

Enjoy your journey and the friendships you make. May god protect you on all your adventures. Kind regards from Belgium 🇧🇪❤️❤️👍👍
Good deal Lauren! I’ve lived in Alaska for over 25 years and I love the ocean and all it has to offer. I missed this summer and have been watching any Alaskan fishing videos I can find. I'm originally from Whidbey Island WA, and I can attest that Dungeness crab is the best in the world. Crabbing was not good this year so I didn't make the trip from Turkey this season, and I'm jonesing.
Crab season was canceled in Alaska, no crabbing for anyone. Not like what she did just catching two crabs in her diving suit, it was canceled for commercial fishing boats.
Hi Ms. Sarasua. I live in Hawaii and do some fishing and a little diving. I remember you from Deer meat for Dinner in Jamaica. The prawns were amazing. This Cucumber and Crabs in Alaska was so interesting and informative. Thank you for adding to the Spice of Life. Amazing !!!
Aloha. Worked on a dive boat in SE Alaska in ‘02. Mostly uni, but also sea cukes. Captain showed me how to make them. We just fried them in seasoned flour. Tasted just like clam strips! Glad I tried them, you as well. The divers used dry suits with a huka system with comm lines attached.
Another great episode ..... you're going to have to get Max to share his culinary secrets if his going be cooking in the video! This was fantastic seeing the different species especially how you preped the sea cucumber, it is considered an exotic delicacy and traditional harvested food (different species) in North Australia, however I have only ever seen dried processed whole animals (very unappealing) and never tried any (will have to try some now). The part you ate raw is one of the sea cucumbers defensive adaptions called Cuvierian tubules (these tubules are attached to the base of the creatures respriatory system), these are expelled by the animal when stressed. They project them from their anus in a mess of stringy sticky fibres that are meant to entangle and disrupt a predator. They are suprisingly sticky and quite strong, they can be withdrawn back into the animal or discarded (they will apparently grow back), as unevolved children we would throw them at each other as a disgusting/annoying prank as they are messy, sticky and quite difficult to remove (again never thought to eat them). Thanks again for sharing your adventures FYI the jellyfish you saw looked like a Lions Mane Jellyfish they are massive and their tenticles can extend/drape a long way, these can inflict a painfull sting so definitely steer clear of these.
