So for those that don't know 'Black-Irish' is term for people on the West coast of that were mixed of Gaelic-Irish and Spanish heritage from back when the Spanish Armada showed up to hang out for a bit in the Galway region! It's a traditional term as the Spanish / Irish descendants were FAR darker in tone than the typical Gaels who were probably the pasty milky peachy colour people in europe. So the Spanish would have be the darkest people the Gaels came across at that point in history. Today the term 'Black-Irish' its kinda loosely used to refer to any Irish person that also has ANY Latin heritage at all, not just Spanish, even if they themselves are pale in complexion. lol Whats funny and also nice is that sometimes it is used to refer the parent that is Latin even if that parent themselves is not Irish in anyway, if they are just married to an Irish person with a child with that that person they can be refer to as Black-Irish, basically, they are just view and accepted as Irish essentially! Which is quite nice! And this is a reoccurring theme throughout Irish history.
