- November 1st is international self-portrait day and this is my 12th anniversary of making a RUclips video about it! Do a self-portrait today and enjoy the video. Sorry in advance for all the rambling, didn't get much time this year.

I love how Sinix starts by talking art stuff but ends with philosophy, it feels so comforting to me cuz my mom would do something really similar instead of bedtime reading: she would start by telling me something about history, then moving onto quantum physics and ending everything with philosophy. So this video made me so much happier after having a terrible day of working like a dog, getting scolded by almost everyone in power and crying for the last 2 hours of shift while trying to get the rest of the job done.
Your mom sounds lovely, my Dad did a similar thing for me when I couldn't sleep. I'm sorry people are treating you poorly at work, that must have been such a stressful day :(
Using your platform to briefly speak about the dehumanization of Arabs and Palestinians made me subscribe and push notifications without even thinking. I love your art and I love your kindness ❤

P.s. Thank you for spreading positivity and tolerance, Sinix. Really sad that the world is turning into a big mess and the only thing that's widespread it seems is mutual hate and demonisation.
All i can say is f*ck corrupt governments(mine is very much included) and agressive dehumanising ideologies.
I feel some guilt for not "caring" that much about what's going on in the world, but honestly these past few years have been really rough, both in my personal life and in society in general. Because i basically live in the internet, i just can't take the constant influx of information and bad news from all around the world anymore, specially when there's already so much happening in my country(Brazil) regarding minorities. I love your videos and you've been helping A LOT with my art growth for years, but had to keep following only on youtube because my threads/instagram algorithm got real messy real quick with all the takes lol
you are under no obligation to care about things that don't affect you directly, we all have our own issues. there are things much worse going on in the world that we aren't hearing about for whatever reason

Yeah, I know what you mean. Reality is bad enough, shit just keeps piling up and then I come to watch a nice self-portrait video only to hear how I gotta have empathy for russians ... Fuck me, I guess.

Sinix, thanks for being brave and talking about politics, but m terrified of talking about these type of topics and losing job opportunities as a noob in the industry, but I realized, if a workplace don’t hire me for speaking about important stuff like this, it isn’t a place that I would like to work at actually.

Been watching your videos for years-started back when I was a little art twirp with that design lab about a space pirate and now I've been making a living as a concept artist in the games industry long enough where I've had time to grow pretty jaded about the whole thing. Your uploads always bring a smile to my face, though. I appreciate the hopeful, humanistic message that underlies all your work, and I like it when you tackle more ambitious topics that go beyond technique and such. It’s heartening to see so many young people following you and watching your excellent content. Keep it up, Sinix!

I was born after 9/11, but the impact of western outcry after it has played a major role in my childhood and upbringing
It is heartbreaking to see even today, that our world's leaders do not see the beautiful people of Palestine as those worth stopping this massacre for, it hurts and it makes this art journey along with personal life so much harder.
I love art because I love the world, and to see any of it treated with less worth is depressing
It made me very happy in this time that you said something, and more importantly, shared how you learnt and grew, It gives me hope.

It was so refreshing to hear you talk about these issues. I'm extremely tired of all this hatred of one another and people seeing everything in black and white. We're all just trying our hardest to survive in the world full of terrors and injustice. There's no need to demonize certain groups of people, we all are practically the same and can do nothing about our warmongering governments sadly.

Dang, I really didn’t expect this portrait painting video to get me emotional. I appreciated hearing about your optimism for the creative world right now- I’ve been feeling very down creatively and struggling to feel like there’s any purpose in pursuing a creative life, and hearing your optimism reminded me that it really is worthwhile and sometimes it’s enough to just be passionate about something. I also really appreciate hearing your personal experience and feelings about the current world issues. The portrait turned out lovely and I always learn so much from your videos 💕

I was at lightbox over the weekend, and the sprouts were honestly such a blessing. Was super great getting to meet you in the first place, but the number of people I met and became friends with over the weekend because of them (either because we were both wearing them, or someone was asking about them) was amazing.
It was my first time out at Lightbox or really any con in general, so I wasn't really sure what to expect, or if I'd really get the chance to get to know people much in the middle of everyone handing out business cards and trying to find jobs while rushing from thing to thing.
I can't fully say how it would have gone without the sprout, but it definitely stripped a lot of the anxiety of the whole experience away.
The positivity you spread, both through your videos, and through little things like the sprouts, is definitely something that is noticed and appreciated, at the very least for me over the past few years following you.

I really agree with you. People seem to just hate other people so easily these days (expecially over the internet), and it's really sad. Regardless of what group you belong to, we are all humans and should treat each other with mutual resepct and love. I hope everyone who is reading this will have a good day, and help spread more positivity in this dark world of ours!

I've tried to learn psychology, politology attempting to understand is there anything what can be done to make things better and what I got is that there's nothing I can really do but react.
So I don't watch news anymore - just to get some optimism back to my life (and it actually works - I came back to work after a year of a wild frustration. I steel on low energy, but at least I can live and support my family and friends), I don't try to learn people what they should do - it won't work, I listen to noone who tells me what I have to do and try to learn new things (that's why I came back here again after a long break)

Something clicked for me while watching you paint this. I've been gathering little pieces of how I want my art to look like (or the direction I wanna take it in, more appropriately..) and there were multiple details-in-shadow pieces lately that spraked that for me. It's definitely something I want to explore when I feel up to it
And of course, your self portrait came out wonderful as always! The color choice is wonderful, it feels warm even through all the purple, like you're in a shadowed space on a hot summer day
Ah the friends in russia thing really brings my mood down. I know it’s meant to be nice, but it’s hard to accept that once you’ve heard the bombs fall while you’re cowering in the basement. And knowing that someones paying for those with their taxes kinda gets in the way of friendship for me. Especially when it’s a war that lacks any reason except some imperialist obsession.
So hard disagree on the harmonious take there.
I have parts of my family in Ukraine and am myself from Germany. Oppressor and oppressed are two sides that are pretty close to me.
I firmly believe that it is necessary to stand up against bullshit and just attacking another country is bullshit. Same as breaking international law. And if someone is Russian I have very high expectations of them to do their part. „I just took orders“ isn’t a good enough excuse.
But on a more positive note. Thanks for mentioning Ukraine Sinix. Even if just in passing. Awareness is fading quickly.

I love how you paint. But I realized I don't even know how to use the painting software I use 😅😂 the Clip Studio Paint. Plus sometimes my hand really heart while I try to do long confident lines, and I always forget to warm up before drawing. Always want to draw perfect and as seeing the blank canvas, its annoying how I made myself frustrated 😂
I just received an email yesterday if something I had drawn was a self portrait (it was not). I don't think they were aware of this challenge, and I was not either until today. Time to get on an updated self portrait! Thank you for your video!
Wish I could do the self portrait but I haven't for years, maybe I can post the one I did during may? Not sure but I have huge art projects always during this time of year so never have time. Your self portrait was so enjoyable to look at and I feel like I learnt so much stuff by just watching it be created.
