I believe, that after 16 years of beginner art tutorials, this is the first intermediate tutorial ever uploaded to RUclips. If you've got more, everybody would be interested. 😁
I think the tempo and appeal videos of Sinix are very intermediate subjects.
Very true! They're always so hard to find 😳
Oh for sure 😂😂
I feel like I took a year’s worth of art classes
You did, I learnt more here than i did two years of uni... lol fml
drawing always has been a passion of my mine. and art just doesnt really love me back. even so. i work hard practice day and day out. however my art never improves.. can you critique my art pls i just need a pros point of view
@@pogz1 hi ! i am by no means an art professional, but i've been doing art for my entire life and am currently on my second year of being an art major. from what i can tell, you're doing great! i can tell that your forte is anatomy and bodies :) the only thing i would suggest is working on facial proportions and studying the structure of the human skull. as for individual features (such as eyes/lips/noses) try practicing them using basic shapes !! this was an exercise we had to do in uni and it's helped me a lot. best of of luck
Well i feel like i missed all of it 😂
I went to art school and there are things I've learned online than I ever did in art school. Art school felt like a scam, now that I'm out.
THANK GOD FINALLY SOMEONE WHO CARED FOR US MERE MEDIUM LEVELED GUYS
Same
LMAO TRUE ITS ALWAYS COMPLETE BEGINNER OR SUPER ADVANCED
@@kit2691 I know right? it's always hard to find proper tips for my skill level.
Ikr!!
what did he mean by this
"Hey everyone sinix here"
-God
I pray thee, mine master of shape design
For thy are everlasting in thine established appealism
Giveth us inspiration
Our God of Art; Sinix
And Sinix said, "Let there be stroke economy," and there was stroke economy.
funny aint it i tried so hard and never got so,, in the end i never improve. its like doing weights and never gaining. its like i work twice as hard as anyone. but its for not. i need a pros judgement/critique on my art vid..
please rise for the national anthem

The stages of artistic grief:
1. OMG Sinix posted again!!!
2. This is so awesome and inspiring I need to make something RIGHT NOW!
3. I'm inadequate :(
Keep at it, discipline beats talent
truly lmao. i'm still struggling with the 2 value distillations. he makes it seem so freaking easy, but then when i do it on my own, i'm so fucking lost. i kinda wish he'd start selling individual lessons for like $100 a pop where you can sit down with him and do a 2 value distillation together lol
My art philosophy is that in order to be decent at any art you have to create an absolutely hot garbage art
@@bathestyles6525 The key is shapes. I still get the shapes wrong, but it's a learning process
If you care about drawing and painting at all, you are not inadequate. Everybody else is too busy doing stupid stuff
Hey everyone sinix here is literally everything 😔✊
anatomy is like me trying how to fly.... my brain just cant take it. lol can you critique my art vid pls. it just my never improves even if i try so hard
Those emojis are eww
@@yokokurama5174 thank you 🙄
@@pogz1 ok 😊
The genshin impact study blew my mind, I’ve been using line-based sketches my whole life, this tip is an actual lifechanger
This channel is so incredibly underrated and I will promote it aggressively wherever I go
Same!
someone like you brought me here. They were too aggressive. It worked tho :D
Absolutely. Always learn from the best!
Good thing I've always been telling to children who are taking their study seriously.
"So you wanna learn English?" - then even if you think I'm a good teacher and adequate at it - learn the language from it's native users and you'll surely get better than me. I'm here only to show the way. You want to learn how to draw characters? There are not many good tutorials in Russian, and there are a lot of industry professionals who are sharing their experience with the world, but in English. So you'll get the best you can find in RUclips (with subtitles ofc) and get much better at English without even trying to. Of course you'll need some base like grammar but that's why I'm here..
I love the process of creation, but the only thing I'm devoted completely in this world is teaching.. got a little bit carried away but you get the point :D
Learning from people who are just a little bit better than you (because you think you'll never get better than them) is just wasting time and making extra stops on your neverending journey, isn't it?
Sinix I want you to know that the Genshin study example blew my fucking mind like nothing else ever has--thank you so much!
IKR IT WAS SO GOOD
I cried watching this. Why is it so emotional to me.
Same :D...maybe because its overwhelming when we actually found something that actually can help in our art journey? I hope what I'm saying make sense..
I believe in Sinix Design supremacy
🛐🛐🛐🛐🛐
God, I finally feel like I learned the proper vocabulary to express why I prefer the shading of some artist's work over others, and it's their use of shape design combined with their choices of shape economy (or intentional brush stroke) that separates "good" from "great". Thank you so much. ;-;
SAME!!! especially the painting style or the semi realism style instead of flat coloring!!
maybe its due to my prefrence because i always loved the way they used or incorporated shape to give their art volume and yeah basically what you explained too! and I think its also becuase painting can be messy and i enjoy alot of messy portraits specifically color mess portraits :D
I've been hyper fixating on exactly this all day, you truly have blessed us
Totally
Omg this is like SUPER important, I'll definetly see this video a couple of times as I'm still learning
Oh, yes, i'm going to save this video and every time i'll get to painting too! Id never get by myself
I wish I had seen a video like this a decade ago. It took me so long to figure this stuff out on my own. Even when I searched specifically for answers, I never found anyone who summed it up this well. If you are just getting into digital painting, watch this on repeat until it is burned into your brain!
7:36 is like two brushstrokes away from a kuvshinov ilya painting
back to basic.
literally, just add some color in the lips and highlight in the hair
If not for this tutorial I would still be blending until everything becomes a muddy mess and that perpendicular form line is a game changer for me. I've watched countless tutorials, and I understand that a lot of artist can't teach and often times they just do what they do and that works for them. It's just sad that a lot of beginners and even intermediate artists will tend to pay a good amount of money for tutorials that doesn't even teach the basics, but rather is just a demonstration, often times with poor explanation of how they do things that will ofc vary from project to project. No shame to those artists, they just want to make a living and ik they're trying their best, I'm just looking out for all my fellow new artists out there.
FINALLY AFTER YEARS OF WAITING.... IT IS HERE, THANK YOU SINIX!
I was confused where was the “previous video” was he talking about the beginner video? Sounds like last week’s video.
My art has been so stunted and I didn’t know what next step to take and I finally realized that I’ve been rewatching so many beginner tutorials and real learning the basics that I needed to break away from that and move on to intermediate. I didnt know I was at intermediate level until i watched this video, thank you so much for taking the time to make this King 👑 😩
I don't usually leave comments on videos, but I want to give credit to sinix for being a huge part of my art journey. This tutorial is amazing.
I recently got into drawing /slash painting . I didn't realize how hard it was psychologically. So many struggles when learning the ways of the visual arts.
Thank you for the video.
I had never clicked on the notification so fast
It only took 3 hours to render that picture??? This is insane. This artwork alone was so amazing, it looks more realistic than the actual photo (not photorealistic but like more real and life like). Looking at your art makes my chest hurt it's so beautiful.
I love how you explain things. It’s very efficient and easy to understand, you get straight to the point and the topics of discussion are very clear making for a very effective teaching style!
There isn’t many well planned out intermediate lessons for artists on RUclips, so this is incredibly helpful! I always recommend your channel to other artists I come across.
Thank you so much for your time and hard effort, it is incredibly appreciated!
I watched this when it came out and didn't think much of it cause I wanted to use lines only. Now that i'm coming back to it, it has soooo much information that has improved my perspective and my art. I can't believe I overlooked this a year ago....
same here, i think combining the best of both worlds (lines and painting) is the way to go
BRO UR GENSHIN IMPACT ONE WAS SO GOOD OMGGGGG
RIGHT TIMING I’m making a painting rn and I’m struggling
Edit: I was painting sucrose and albedo from Genshin impact and then you mentioned Genshin impact-
digital art is difficult ive been struggling alot lately and my art wont improve even how hard i try. can you please critique my art video
wait wheres the timestamp please
i gave up on drawing a year ago bc i was too stressed out and i cant focus in my toxic household but last week im staying in my aunt's house and it really helps me relax so i try drawing while listening to music.
wish me luck ig
"i get it, mhm very interesting, aaaaand i'm lost"
well i'm just gonna go back to practicing following the form with brush strokes with my hard edge brush and maybe paint more from reference so i understand what good colors look like.
anatomy is like me trying how to fly.... my brain just cant take it. lol can you critique my art vid pls. it just my never improves even if i try so hard
the stroke economy blew my mind. thank you so much for this tutorial!
Good job on the girl portrait, love the emotion that came out. Really inspiring stuff! Great advices and terminology that I've never heard anywhere, but which were still understandable.
THIS is the Color/Painting class I always wanted to attend to back in my Fine Arts Faculty. I‘m telling you, I did 4 years of a Bachelor‘s Degree in Fine Arts and all my color subject classes never explained the right steps to achieve that way of color shaping and simplification, how to add color ambience, etc. Most of my teachers told us to start painting X and afterwards, corrected us, which could have been useful if we had clear fundamentals and an understanding process previously taught to us. Many of them were just subjectively teaching about complex concepts from great masters (Velazquez, Rembrandt…) without explaining how to get there, how to prioritize on our first steps into the canvas, etc. I did a lot of trial/error and of course that taught me things, but having the right guidance definitely can speed that process and provide greater results. Super well done, thanks!
i finished a huge art project back in february and was feeling entirely unmotivated for a long time, so i stopped drawing up until now. after watching this, inspiration and motivation is finally coming to me and i think im ready to pick up the pencil again :)
THIS IS MORE INFORMATIVE THAN ANY PAINTING VIDEOS I'VE WATCHED THANK YOU
I wish all your videos had subtitles, it helps me a lot when listening to what you share (I'm not very good at English, so every time I watch an English video with subtitles, I feel extremely grateful)
I have been dabbling in digital art for years when I've had the time, but you are the first person who really gave me the tools I needed to understand painting. In the first of this, moving to shapes was something I never had even thought about, and it makes sense now why working in 3D was easier for me than painting, because I never got caught up in the lines. You are also the first person to make blending actually make sense, to outline the fundamental principles as related to shape. Thank you for your tutorials.
I'm genuienly concerned about how you teached me way more things in 18 MINUTES than my art class ever did
Your series of painting tutorials really opened up my eyes. This deserves millions of subscribers! Thank you!
this and your beginner video have been very helpful to me. exactly what i was looking for. distillation and shape work is seriously blowing my mind
Sinix is like the Heath ledger of Jokers.
that one example on the arm where you mixed shape language and stroke economy was like a huge lightbulb moment for me. i finally UNDERSTAND. thank you so much for your videos!!!
Thank you so much for this! As somebody who struggled to get out of the "go straight for details" mindset with digital painting, your beginner to intermediate videos with an emphasis on big good shapes and values then refining from there was so goddamn helpful! Have a great day man, these videos were a real gem :) 👍
This channel is like an revelation from god
I am seeing your face for the first time, the last video of yours that I watched 7 times was your life story. you are a god-sent angel.
This is the first higher level tutorial I've ever seen that was actually easy to understand
omg sinix !!!! this just gave me a boost of serotonin thank you I'm always so excited when u post!! especially this video cause it's about digital painting !! I'm so happy :DD
as someone who just started drawing at the beginning of the year finding your channel has been just .. I'm just so thankful.
Holy crap i am called out with that stroke economy thing. You’re the best art teacher on RUclips, love your videos so so so much
this is literally the best tutorial ive come across in a while holy sheet
I'm rewatching this video for the 5th or more time, thank you so much, Sinix!
My main issue is getting Photoshop brushes to do what I want them to do.
These are so refreshing! After watching dozens of digital painting videos over weeks, it's nice to hear someone calmly go over the basics without any hype. I find the vast majority of "painting tutorials" are either:
A) Someone very talented painting with very little to no explanation of what they're doing.
B) Someone very talented painting, but they focus on the steps and not on the theory.
C) Someone with a level of talent or professional experience describing things totally peripheral to painting, such as how to land a job or motivate yourself to paint.
Those can all be helpful in their own ways, but at the end of the day it's very much about the sort of core fundamentals you go over in these videos. I feel you apply similar skills to making videos as you do to painting; it's very often about saying less, not more, but making sure to say it very concisely.
I am so proud to say that I think I am skilled enough to be an intermediate level!! I've come a long way from my mindless painting and taking 2years of just fundamentals has helped me so much. Thank you for this amazing video!
stroke economy IS SOOOOO IMPORTANT
IT IS CRIMINAL THAT THIS IS THE ONLY VIDEO I KNOW WHICH TALKS ABOUT IT !!!!
Awsome content sinix
man, this basically solved my shadowing problem. i cant believe Im watching this free
man i've been following your work for like 10yrs, and this is the 1st time i actually see you, lol don't stop pls
Recently decided to chase my love for the arts and decided i wanted to make a painting of someone i love so I watched this video after never making a single painting in my life and i got closer than I've ever been to running away from art. So much useful info that my brain got overwhelmed and started panicking. I love this video for just that.
As someone who comes from the drawing side and always struggled to take abgrasp on digital painting, I am totally mindblown right now. Thank you so much for these tutorials!
Hey man, I've been watching you for many many years. I love how humble you are, despite your obvious talent. Thank you for the great content!
This might be the first helpful art tutorial on digital painting I've ever come across. Will definitely recommend to newer artists looking to get into digital!
Man, this is the clearest drawing lesson I've ever taken. Thank you.
sinix videos are like slaps on the face of knowledge
You don't know how long I've been looking for this exact tutorial! Thank You
it is so many valued information at the same time, i think i should watch it for parts at different days and make exercises of it in the between, omgosh im so in love with this video
5:58 watching that painting take form was absolutely magical
Don't ever worry about length of the video, it even doesn't matter, the quality of this content is above and beyond,
Okay, I know I will visit this video many times. Thank you for the practices!
His hairstyle fills me with strength to draw more
Best art teacher u cud ever get....sinix❤️💯
BEST TUTORIAL SO FAR!
Thanks, Sinix 😭😭 we love you 💕
Just what I needed! Thanks sinus very cool
Sinus Art Tips 😂
sinus LMAO
Holy shit, thank you. There are so few videos for intermediate levl artists that this may be one of the most useful art videos that i have seen in a long time.
Man this video is just so goooooood. Simple, useful, I was enthralled following the study. Saved!
Woahhhh just yesterday I saw your "how to learn digital painting for beginners video" And today you posted more about it!!
babe wake up sinix is giving us more
Holy shit where had this video been all this time, I've looked for so many videos on this and none helped like this one ❤
You are literally sent by God, theres no way someone is that GOOD and nice enough to share their tip
"so a friend was playing genshin impact- i know 😏-"
Love you
Hey man, this is like the third time I have watched both of these videos and I wanna say that it has helped me tons to look at painting in different levels or complexity starting with value distillation. The way you lay it out makes it clearer to not worry about bringing ANY detail until the basics of the composition is nailed down first. It’s like you unclogged my vision or something. I don’t know, I appreciate what you do because I never would have taken the leap this soon and it has helped me find that just jumping into it was exactly what I needed to do. You have provided a way for to rewind a little so it feels like I’m building fundamental skills first. Now when I open a new canvas wether I’m doing a study or just messing around I feel like I’m not floating around in space like an inert piece of trash. Love you for that. ❤️
Finished watching with 2x speed!!
Thank you for the tips Master Senpai Sinix!
This is a very helpful tutorial, thank you for taking the time to actually explain proper terms and rendering techniques. As someone who's watched tons of art tutorials trying to improve, it was refreshing to see someone actually teaching and not simply recommending a blending mode or quick tip.
I love to think of the 2 value distillation as a pumkin carving. You dont want tiny details because you wont be able to show it well on a pumkin. Hope that helps someone out there!
Sinix-a pure gem❣️
my digital art has progressed so much. thank you 😭
I love your explanation! Let's not forget that this is literally free high quality course
damn... all of sinix's guides are just so concise and to the point but still easy to understand. maybe I should on on the painting train
I can't explain how much it is useful to me. Than you so much for sharing your knowledge with us.
these two video should watch over and over again until understand every single second properly
FINALLY! I have been waiting since your painting for beginners video! Thank you very much!
how i'm SO glad to see this vídeo, i were struggling so much with this things, and i finally found the perfect video for scape my frustration with this topic, i can't wait for practice this
Ngl when he brought in Genshin Impact into the study I got SUPER interested (and excited) 😂😂 What can I say, I love the game and it's really beautiful.
Sinix never stop surprising for bringin a lot of useful, better, vital information to really push your skills beyond your current level. And the most amazing thing is that they're both so practical and theory-based, that you really can understand how the magic works.
Sinix, you really make a difference to us artists
Extremely helpful!! I feel like this answered most of my questions and questions I didn't know I had. Please pose more things like this!
Hi! I've been watching your videos for a while now, and I just want to tell you they inspire me a lot! I want to paint so much right now!
That helped me so goddamn much. I never knew how to blend anything and how people did it, but the form thing made me feel big brain. THANK YOU SINIX
The Legend is back!
First time I understand digital art, amazing video.
don't thank us, thank YOU for helping us
Sinix you are still an art god, o really love your art style
