LFG Joey! Great use of the thermal cam to pin point the issue! Very happy you got this working! 🙂 I could tell you was happy with that fix! Keep them coming mate.
This was so helpful. I'm working on my first Xbox series x and having the same issue. Seems like common Xbox issue through our Xbox history. I replaced a few chips on some Xbox ones.
1st off great video very helpful you’re a funny dude question though. Like you I’ve found that my issue is not my power supply at 4:15 of this video you do a continuity test, when I perform it the left side every pin has the continuity sound right side however does not sound off on any pin. Any insight with that finding you may have would be very appreciated. Thanks in advance 👍✌️ To further my issue and explanation of findings when I do the power test like you do at 2:15 I get power with the a light visible for about 15-20 seconds then it dims and goes out and I do measure and read 11.9 DC with the multimeter on the left side of the 2 pin power supply connector the right side I do not 🤔
Push down on that Mosfet driver to pushout excess solder, thats the way to go for non BGA chips. The ground pads are used to spread the heat by having too much solder it will shorten the lifespan of that IC, other than that great work.
Hi Joey, great job finding the issue and showing us, it helped me identify my problem as well! But I have an issue, I can't seem to find a replacement part for this chip, did you find it yourself? And if yes where? Thank you!
great fix bro, but a little iski to start the voltage injection with 12v, your get lucky but i will recommend starting really low voltage around 0.7v and 2amps if you dont see any heat spots you can start to increasing the voltage just to be safe
This happened to mine few weeks ago. been debating taking it apart since I'm out of warranty as I don't know who else to take it to so I can have it fixed
Mine just started to not stay on. Its a year or less old. And to make it more irritating, the kids were just on it watching RUclips, then a movie. Then it was off for maybe an hour, then i tirned it on to update a game, amd it turns on. No display on the TV, then turns off after less than a minute. Its plughed straight into the wall. Should i attempt this repair? I have a volt meter, and a soldering iron. No flux. I am a novice at soldering but i know how to do it.
Mine recently went through a power surge where my monitor was also cooked. The Xbox turns on and fan runs but posts no picture, would be awesome if I could some feed back on this issue.
okay this is a year old. the patients is outstanding, I most likely would of had both xbox side by side and plugging each into the other and testing. Great video.. although not what i was looking for, have you came across the problem where the xbox will turn on, the fan will spin for a second, then stops then a few minutes shuts down?
I have now had to replace both my wife and my Xbox x series. I have owned PS systems and some for 6 years no issues. These are little over a year and a bit past the warranty. So I may not be buying Microsoft again. Kind of a bummer.
I can relate long time gamer from ps1 days still have my 360 works perfectly upgraded ftom xbox 1 to Series x year and a half it shuts down Mid game won't re start . Not impressed 😕
Hi, I'm considering buying a series x, should I be concerned about the SSD failing, I've seen a few videos now saying that the series X will eventually die because of it and it can't be repaired by replacing it because it is coded to the motherboard, is this correct? Obviously Microsoft can repair it but this would cost nearly as much as a new one, especially now they only cost £379, thanks
Yes I agree with what you said about them knowing what they're talking about in the beginning. Why would you open the console if you haven't at least had a go at repairing it?
I’ve just taken apart my Xbox one series x for a clean out took everything out so was left with shell went to put it back together and it wouldn’t turn on, I think maybe when I first opened it the ribbon cable with white and blue slot has a little play in it would that cause it not to turn on. As I’ve tried turning on with putting a disc in and using controller that’s paired up and still nothing
Hey question my Nexus power is broke power supply is broke and HDMI. I bought it that way once I fix the HDMI and PSU can I just use the controller or do I need the Nexus ribbon plugged into the front port
So I had to replace an hdmi port, my friend had the solder to remove and replace it, when I put it back together it wouldn’t power on, it used to power on normally
I just watched this video to try and fix my Xbox series x as I thought the psu was faulty, it isn’t unfortunately, my Xbox one series x cuts off mid game from about 10 mins of playing changing the thermal paste and cleaned out but nothing still the same. And when I go to boot up it doesn’t give you the Xbox message of your console shutdown because of over heating so I’m 100% sure it’s not the overheating that’s the issue it’s the board somewhere or SSD hopefully not tho.
My xbox has just recently stopped working and I've got no clue as to why, theirs a crackle when plugging the power lead into the xbox but nothing else happens when i press the power button or any other buttons.... any help would be appreciated
Checkout either Chase Fournier, Micro Mage Repair or Computer Booter on RUclips. Hopefully one of them is close to you, pretty sure they all do mail in!
Can I pay you to help me fix my Xbox Series X issue? Xbox won’t help me without charging me $200 plus to look at it because it just recently came out of warranty. It powers on but only for mins, and never on to the screen. The fans come barely on and then the Xbox will shut back off
Man I wish you would fix my Xbox one/s everyone that works on electronics in my area tell me to trash it and buy a new one! But that's hard to do when you're broke😅. It just won't turn on so I know it couldn't be too serious
Amazing mate, gotta be one of your best fixes so far. Well done! 👍
Thanks bud, this one felt goooooood!
Wow what a fix Joey, this must have been such a good feeling... love to see the reactions when a fix was a succes. Good vibes video. 👍
This is one of your best fixes Joey! Well deserved :)
Makes me want to have a thermal cam even more :D
The "touchy feely" method is just much more exciting 😂
Great diagnosis and fix
Great fix as always joey glad you and your family are doing great.
Thankyou Dak!
I love the way you troubleshoot and work on the board 💯
Great diagnostic and repair joey. Great video.
very nice fix Joey well done!
Nice work man ‼️👍🏾
Thanks Mark :)

Amazing job on the Xbox Joey!!
AMAZING VIDEO!! You just gained a Sub!
Happy for you that you got a nice win, enjoyed thanks for sharing
LFG Joey! Great use of the thermal cam to pin point the issue! Very happy you got this working! 🙂 I could tell you was happy with that fix! Keep them coming mate.
Very happy with this one pal :)
Nice repair. Never thought to use a thermal camera
Nicely done mate well diagnosed 👍
Like a pro you the man joey love the video
Bro you had me hella excited!🤣🤣🤣 Good stuff 👍
Very great video. Another xbox saved from the trash. Very nice. Great video, which thermal-cam do you use? Greets
Thanks! I use a FLIR thermal cam for iPhone :)
amazing job keep going and post more greater videos. i'am a new subscriber
Awesome man. One question: where you injected voltage on the board? 12v line?
Yeah on the 12v line :)
Hey good job fixing this! Did you happen to find a spare chip online for the other series x?
Let's go algorithm! 😂 merry xmas lad
4:20 Its not a Fluke its an AstroAI
Great video I’m a fellow technician and this was fantastic
Good job mate.
This was so helpful. I'm working on my first Xbox series x and having the same issue. Seems like common Xbox issue through our Xbox history. I replaced a few chips on some Xbox ones.
It’s absolutely a common issue. Too much heat.
Smashed it pal! By the way, I have SSDs available on my store. Let me know and I'll do you a special discount 🤪
Thankyou dude!
That's crazy that a part that small was keeping that console from turning on
Thank you for sharing 🤠🤠
Nice job on that one!
Helped me fix my Xbox Series X, much appreciated!
How much power consumption is used for gameplay xbox series x?
nice repair there m8 but can you tell me what chip thats is i need that chip also
When injecting voltage where do in the board you do that? I'm kind of new, so that's why I'm asking?
Man how easy is to burn those SMDs...
Amazing work again Joey!!!!

Where do you even find parts to replace chips and tiny items on the board?
Push down on that Mosfet driver to pushout excess solder, thats the way to go for non BGA chips. The ground pads are used to spread the heat by having too much solder it will shorten the lifespan of that IC, other than that great work.
Appreciate the advice!
Amazing video Ty
That’s what’s happening with mine like the exact same thing
Do you do repairs for the public? Looking for someone to fix my series x. Have a short somewhere on mine
where to get the IC other than a donor board? i still dont have a donor lol
My xbox series X stop turning on like 3 weeks ago due to a strong storm surge. Should I just replace the PSU? Or could it be something else?
Hi Joey, great job finding the issue and showing us, it helped me identify my problem as well! But I have an issue, I can't seem to find a replacement part for this chip, did you find it yourself? And if yes where? Thank you!
Hi did you find a replacement chip yet?
how are you injecting voltage? im new and would like to learn, have all the equipment
Did you identify the failed ic?
great fix bro, but a little iski to start the voltage injection with 12v, your get lucky but i will recommend starting really low voltage around 0.7v and 2amps if you dont see any heat spots you can start to increasing the voltage just to be safe
It looks like I have the same problem - shorts all over the board, but I don't have a thermal camera. Any advice?
Do you do repairs? Microsoft has taken mine and never opened it before sending it back to me.
How did you inject 12v at 1A, 5A, etc. and where did you inject the power?
This happened to mine few weeks ago. been debating taking it apart since I'm out of warranty as I don't know who else to take it to so I can have it fixed
I have the same symptoms as this xbox. How much would it be to do this exact fix?
this one goes on the book of fixing these consoles thanks
excellent Joey
Love how you just played rocket league on the signed in account after you fixed it
Haha it was after I reset it, so was on my account :)

mine did not stay one will turn on and off instantly, i changed the power supply to a new one and it does not turn on at all now, what do i do??
Yes! Common let's goooo! It works! Great fault finding.
okay this is a year old. the patients is outstanding, I most likely would of had both xbox side by side and plugging each into the other and testing.
Great video..
although not what i was looking for, have you came across the problem where the xbox will turn on, the fan will spin for a second, then stops then a few minutes shuts down?
Congratulations :)
Hello what is the chip called or do you have a link for the chip
How did you desolder it so easily? I’ve the same fix to do but I’m unable to desolder it…
I have now had to replace both my wife and my Xbox x series. I have owned PS systems and some for 6 years no issues. These are little over a year and a bit past the warranty. So I may not be buying Microsoft again. Kind of a bummer.
I can relate long time gamer from ps1 days still have my 360 works perfectly upgraded ftom xbox 1 to
Series x year and a half it shuts down
Mid game won't re start . Not impressed 😕
Great fix

Where can I find those ic chips?
Nice one joey last xbox series x I did said fan didn't work took it apart they didn't plug it back in lol 😆 so made nice profit
Honestly thinking about potentially getting a series s to see if I can fix it
I haven't had the opportunity to crack one of these open yet, but from a take-apart-and-rebuild perspective, they look absolutely horrendous 😬
Way to go!
This just happened to my Xbox I wonder if it's the same thing
I have an Xbox that won’t turn on was wondering if you repair them and how much
Yes I offer repair as a service :) head to this link and send me a message: www.joeydoestech.com/book-a-repair
Do you have chip/IC U60 that I can buy? U60 is blown on my board.
It's not recommended inject 12v, if there's the MOSFET of the APU is shorted the 12v can go directly to the APU, try to start with 1v
I did originally start with low voltage but couldn’t see a short unfortunately
Do you know why Xbox series x power supply go bad?
Hey question my Nexus power is broke power supply is broke and HDMI. I bought it that way once I fix the HDMI and PSU can I just use the controller or do I need the Nexus ribbon plugged into the front port
Power of the Man-Bun!
No Short Sherlock. Nice fix.
So I had to replace an hdmi port, my friend had the solder to remove and replace it, when I put it back together it wouldn’t power on, it used to power on normally
same
So my xbox power button is stuck in any idea how to fix ?
Nice rocket league goal mate.
Can you do a Xbox one
I just watched this video to try and fix my Xbox series x as I thought the psu was faulty, it isn’t unfortunately, my Xbox one series x cuts off mid game from about 10 mins of playing changing the thermal paste and cleaned out but nothing still the same. Amazing super happy for you you truened a negative into a positive lol double entendre
But why this happen my Xbox it’s brand new and no power 😢😢😢😢
Can you fix my series s ?
BOOM! Nice one Joey son.
Bruh my Xbox has the same issue as that one. Nervous about sending it in and paying 400$ for them to do a simple 2minute fix
I am curious if Microsoft would go threw all the work to fix the issue or just send a new one
Great 😎👍
My xbox has just recently stopped working and I've got no clue as to why, theirs a crackle when plugging the power lead into the xbox but nothing else happens when i press the power button or any other buttons.... any help would be appreciated
Same but he shows it in the video.
Man i bought a new power supply replaced the old one cuz i thought it was dead..now its replaced lol wont boot at all so my chip has to be messed up.
you have to pres down cose the bord act like hitsinc
Does anyone know a U.S. company that can do this same fix? Currently having the same issues with my Xbox
Checkout either Chase Fournier, Micro Mage Repair or Computer Booter on RUclips. Hopefully one of them is close to you, pretty sure they all do mail in!
I got a Xbox series x it powers on (no beep) then in like 30 seconds it shuts off I put a new power supply in it and didn't fix it
Good fault finding!
Can I pay you to help me fix my Xbox Series X issue? Xbox won’t help me without charging me $200 plus to look at it because it just recently came out of warranty. It powers on but only for mins, and never on to the screen. The fans come barely on and then the Xbox will shut back off
If you got a spare ssd from one please sell it to me I need it to fix a Xbox with a dead drive
Man I wish you would fix my Xbox one/s everyone that works on electronics in my area tell me to trash it and buy a new one! But that's hard to do when you're broke😅. It just won't turn on so I know it couldn't be too serious
