I ordered a 2023 Carnival SX P about 2 months ago. It wasn't easy, but I found a dealer on the other side of town which would do MSRE on an order. Typical markups on the SX P was 5K.. Not sure when, but someday I'll get it. Why does the Telluride have a 3.8, whereas the Carnival gets the 3.5? Same specs. Is the 3.5 a newerl engine? The 3.8 has been out for a while.
Good call on not paying a markup and honestly.. kudos for taking the time to find a dealer that would do that. Last I heard from dealers my way is that wait times are between 3 - 6 months depending on how it's spec'd out. No clue on the engine choice there. I was surprised it has a similar power output too
This is absolutely the best video comparison, thank you so much for taking the time to make this! We’ve been looking back and forth between the Telluride and Carnival for our next car. This video helps a ton!
@@CarsWithSteve We’re going with the Telluride! Originally I thought the Carnival was significantly bigger than the Telluride. I love the look of the Telluride! It was extremely helpful to see you seated in them, especially for that third row
Kia has really came a long way lol, this is an amazing comparison video, I have just started my search for a minivan, I want to buy one by the end of the year, and this video has definitely made my deceided for me.
Excellent presentation. Love that you state the cargo dimensions opening length, widths and how deep. Better measure and more practical than litres or other volume measurements. Please add centimetres (metric please)
Thanks and good to know people like those details! I’ve never understood why all manufacturers measure in volume 🤷♂️ CM is a great suggestion for the measurements to add in
Great video!! I'm comparing the two for my family + babysitting kids! Looking for a vehicle that will hold 3-4 rear facing car seats and still be able to actually get the children in! LOL I'm leaning towards the Carnival!! What trims are each of these? Thanks!!
I think there is a big miss... the rear hatch and sliding door opening measurements of both cars which is not shown. Reason people buy vans is it's easier to get stuff in and out but according to the video, both interior max height if 52" and 39" is identical so why buy the Carnival?
Oh interesting ideas to add in there sliding door measurements, honestly never thought of that one for vans or SUVs.. I think for some it'll come down to style preference. Some people just love the thoughts of having a mini van
Thanks Nav! The SX trim level will have the Dual Panel Sunroof standard, it's unavailable otherwise. The Carnival has the option for towing with an aftermarket hitch install (your dealer can take care of it for you) and it has a max towing capacity of 3,500 lbs
🧐I was thinking about getting the Carnival but just found out the Engine is GDI which cause excess carbon build up on the valves...I might pass unless someone can convince me otherwise😢
Carbon buildup can happen on any engine, it's not just GDI engines where it happens. GDI can be more susceptible to buildup but not all DI engines will build up carbon the same way Always maintain your vehicle regularly including performing scheduled maintenance and oil changes. Using a top tier fuel and OEM approved engine oils is always a good idea, along with regular spark plug and injector maintenance
@@CarsWithSteve I saw a video with a review of the SE trim and the guy removed the outer 2nd row seats. So I assume it's only the top trim with the lounge seats than can't be removed. Is that correct?
Based on cubic feet the Carnival seems to have aot more cargo space. But in terms of length it may not be that much. Wondering what car you would recommend for families with three kids if child seats are not needed anymore
You have more depth in the cargo area of the Carnival but measurements between them are really close. If you don't need to worry about the child seats I personally like the look of the 2023 Telluride over the Carnival. They have very similar tech and features too. Could be worth a family trip to a Kia dealer and do back to back test drives to get a feel for which one you like the most!
@@CarsWithSteve Do you think it's worth it to wait for the hybrid models? I noticed that a lot of people seem to prefer the V6 engines on these cars. It's as if they never felt the high gas prices. I personally wanted to wait for the hybrid models to come in, but am not sure if they'll last or why most people are so much against them.
Assuming this does get a hybrid it would give you slightly better fuel economy but I wouldn't hold my breath on these going hybrid. I think people's apprehension with hybrids comes down to long term benefits vs the higher upfront cost
People are brand loyal and have preferences for style and feature set.. I know people who will only ever own Hyundai's and others who wouldn't touch them with a 10 foot pole. Everyone is different
Good comparison video, very thorough, but do try to be aware of how many times you say “literally”. I think I counted a dozen times in the first 5 minutes.
Haha so many times. I seemed to have random filler words for the first year and a half when I started the channel I turned it into a drinking game while I was editing 😂
They are revmovable, the outboard seats also have a handle to pull them up. You do have to disconnect the seatbelt warning cables (which are clips ins) so it's slightly more involved
Surprised this video doesn't have more views. Well done!
Thanks Stephen, appreciate that!

Thanks Jade! The ones used in this video were:
Carnival - EX+ (Canada) / SX equivalent (USA)
Telluride - SX Limited (Canada) / SX Prestiage (USA)

next time get a better light angle before you become expert onto anything.. the cargo space is hardly visible with everything appearing basically dark
But the measurements are readable are they not?
@@CarsWithSteve then what’s the point of making a video, just share measurements
tons of details. thanks for the info

Wait, you can't remove the outer 2nd row seats on the Carnival? I'm not sure that's right...
It depends on the configuration you have. The tumble seats in the 8 seat configuration are removable
@@CarsWithSteve I saw a video with a review of the SE trim and the guy removed the outer 2nd row seats. So I assume it's only the top trim with the lounge seats than can't be removed. Is that correct?
@@2chicos that sounds right - the lower trims have 8 seat configuration while it's the highest trim with the 7!
Fog lamps are not across all of the trim lines.
In Canada they are in the Telluride, optional on the lower trims in the Carnival
All in all which do you recommend
Power wise they're close. I personally like the look of the Telluride more so I'd go that way over the Carnival
Does the Carnival feel roomier inside ? We are torn between these 2 cars. Both do suit most of our needs.
I found the Carnival has slightly better 3rd row height but the Telluride driver seats felt roomier
the Carnival is way more roomier inside in the third row
