14:00 This absolutely made sense to me, very much my take on things as well, especially as someone who’s done stuff-particularly NSFW stuff-with other people’s characters. If it’s an official thing, like Death Wolf or even something like a Hazbin character, there’s an element of fair game, but if it’s purely an internet character like someone’s OC, you damn well better get permission. Everything I’ve made with other people’s characters, I’ve made sure to let them know I’m doing it.
To be fair, a tank is only of questionable ethics if it's used against people. If we just used it to demolish condemned buildings there would be no issue. I feel it's the same with AI. It can be used for evil, or good, or more often than not just neutral purposes. The current issue is that the AI image models have all been trained using stolen art. If that was no longer the case, I would have no issue with AI art.
I thought it was more like pawing, sure it can feel good but nearly no one wants to see you do it. More so if you decide to use others to get off, great chance if the person knew they would not be anywhere near as happy as you are about it. If you really want others to see AI spaces exist and even then most people still are selective in what they want to see.

@@kaytheimpossible1383Everyone can **learn** to draw, though. Not a single artist was born with art skills. Just as you can learn how to bake, cook, write, or to speak a new language, anyone can learn how to draw.
nsfw ai slop is just a *plague* on the various adult sites, in general the worst part is that whatever generator these people are using is slowly improving, so it's more and more difficult to distinguish generated crap from actual artwork if you forget to blacklist the ai tags (thankfully the art style kinda stands out due to how slightly uncanny it looks, especially if you saw many generated images before) i generate stuff on occasion (it's usually sfw unless i feel like experimenting, but that's super rare nowadays), but i never consider the stuff art to me, an image generator is more like a toy than anything - just something you mess around with, and then move on when you're bored and it's very easy to notice distracting details - a problem with perspective here, a misaligned piece of the background there, or even a distorted hand
That is the key. Drench yourself in AI art. When you see just one or two, it can be super hard to determine. But when you see tons... it's like the soulless pictures link the clues together. Even that won't hold up for too long. The thing is racing for improvements by the day.
@jupreindeer right now you just have to check the background to see if the image was generated - the details get smudged to hell: unreadable text, distorted symbols, distant skylines with weird buildings and windows, etc. and if there's a line of some sort going behind the main thing in the image, it most likely won't continue where it's supposed to - it might be lower, or higher, or it might disappear entirely at some point the generator just gives up, because it doesn't have enough data and because things can only get so small also, the art style is directly connected to the model used for the generation - the green site is a great example of that, after seeing enough nsfw images, you'll eventually be able to recognise the same uncanny art style that i could only describe as "slightly rubbery and/or plasticky, and if it's not any of these things, something about it just makes you pause, but don't quite know why until you see the small distortions" now, if it's something that's supposed to be abstract (like a landscape that was painted in vincent van gogh's style, in which case the generator would mainly be inspired by the starry night painting) you'd have less luck, as the details would be either nonexitant or deliberately distorted when i said that i generate stuff "on occasion", i meant that i *nowadays* generate images on occasion back when there was a boom on generators, i used dall-e mini, now known as craiyon, to make abominations, like basically everyone else then there's dall-e 2 but my current generator of choice is a webui program instead - there are no filters in the way, which means that there are even more ways to have fun before moving on
The degree of disdain I hold for people using AI to violate the wishes of others is immeasurable. If someone's character is meant to be SFW, then *FFS keep it that way.* Goodness, I despise (de)generative AI.
Yeah i mean, you can't really stop people from making AI "art" of your characters, it's the same as getting artwork done of you (Pssst, use an app called Nightshade to poison your images to AI) But people going out of their way to make nsfw art of your sfw sona? On the E site, I noticed some heated arguing over at one artist's recent post on FA about the look of that post, as it seems exactly like how AI would draw, with some weird light issues and the border between light and shadow being weirdly red (I cannot tell if those could just be artistic decisions). What made it worse was that the artist's other posts look pretty similar, yet they go back years before AI got so good as it is! So, we may soon hit a point that artist could be trolling or switching to AI when it gets this good that their own style is no longer "unique" because of it. Though I'm hopeful that AI will soon eat up its own art and get worse, due to the amount of people who try to disguise their AI art as real, as no one can tell them apart (not even any "AI detectors"), and they still contain some invisible mistakes that are gonna accumulate and ruin them. Not to mention AI poisoning tools!
I do not envy the moderator's task over there at FA. That place is like a river of art, flowing 24/7. One's entire life could just be spent living on the front page, burning out in a mad attempt to stop AI art and whatever else they deem to be forbidden material.
More AI poisoning tools have to be developed. Right now the only ones available to the average consumer only stop main models from working, but not the smaller plug-in networks, like the Lora that was made of our boy in the video. Another thing is.. the models and plug-ins that are out there right now... are out there right now. They can't really be poisoned anymore, it's like how you can sabotage the production of.. let's say shoes, by ruining the dye at the factory and making all the Jordans baby vomit green and highly combustible. But once the millions of normal shoes are in millions of people's closests, all those shoes would be impossible to ruin yourself.
I feel like a concerning number of folks in the fandom have a "ask for forgiveness, not permission" mindset where they think they're free to do anything they like and that if they get called out on it they can just fall back on a "oopsie I'm smol bean" act to be free of consequences
Overlay images on the art to confuse the ai. I can't draw, but if I do, i'm gonna overlay a bunch of Marshall x Chase Paw patrol ship art to confuse the ai. Also that Anti-ai filter thing that went around on tiktok/youtube also is useful.
@ Then you have literally nothing to worry about, post whatever you’d like if you want to. If you don’t like social media; the urge to post it shouldn’t even be on your mind, then.
Honestly, NSFW artwork should be treated the same way as the naughty times. I feel like artists should require consent from all the character owners that will be involved in an art piece. While it does complicate the commission process, the extra effort should be necessary for NSFW content and it could at least lower the amount of art from being commissioned where not all parties are okay with it. Unfortunately, AI generated images kind of make a work around there though.
Yeah. Personally I wouldn't be _too_ bothered by my stuff being NSFW'ed, more just weirded out. But if someone doesn't want that to happen, then that's that. No NSFW stuff.
This mindset bothers me. The idea that a drawing somebody isnt comfortable with but isnt forced to look at(that is a must, sending nsfw unsolicited is harassment) is comparable to assault or the actual act of harassing somebody with nsfw is just...it doesnt sit right. I understand everybody feels differently about how they want their ocs treated. This comes down to downplaying the real harm done by SHarassment and SA. im sorry. Theyre just not the same thing. If its not being sent to anybody without consent, then no, we shouldnt be treating this anywhere near how we treat actual intimacy.
@@ItsAllNunya Definitely not the original intention of what I was trying to say. I used a poor analogy, and that is on me. My apologies and I appreciate you pointing out what I did not see and think about initially. Throwing my original comment aside, I do still believe some form of request should be made to everyone in an NSFW commission even if it won’t be sent to them by the person commissioning it. I understand most people don’t mind too much if their character is drawn in that scenario, but there are definitely some who would prefer their character to remain completely SFW and people should try to respect that.
As someone who's character also has a nose horn, they absolutely had to specifically train a Lora on your character to make these. AI seems really bad at doing nose horns.
The power of AI is growing really fast, and also how easy its to use it to malicious intent is scary. When AI will learn to teach and improve itself, we are honestly fucked. Great video. Greetings from the Czech republic.
I am shocked with how fast AI video become easily useable. Though to calm you down, the current AI used for images/video is not that type, and I don't think we currently know how with out humans to really tell the AI when it does well or not when making images/video/music. That is likely why so many companies will burn a lot of money and allow some kind of free credits to use their stuff. Still worth it if it means they can upgrade the AI for paying customers that much faster. Plus so far it has been humans making AI tech by crap, for all we know the first proper AI's would end up using them selfs in way better and healthier ways.
That's what I've been doing with generative ai. I won't make it make images of other people's ocs(without their permission), but it's a great way to get visual representation of my own ocs. I also won't post them online.
@JacobMead-ph1cx I'd argue making NSFW of/with someone else's fursona without permission or regard for the owners feelings is ... very wrong. Like sexual harassment territory at most, and disrespectful at least, full stop. No hate to you, btw, just wanted to point that out.
ive had my OC drawn in an nsfw drawing, and while i dont really care and already accepted the fact this is what the internet does, but the fact that right now im not a well-known artist, aswell as a minor, is what bothers me
@JacobMead-ph1cx How tf AI is the bad part? I honestly don't understand this stupid idea that a lot of people have about AI models being bad. Like, really? AI is not a bad thing by itself, it's like calling a brick bad because it was used to smash someone's window.

damn this sucks, you're a person and maverick is a part of you. the fact you weren't even aware of people taking art and generating images of your own character is disgusting :c crossing boundaries real bad the cherry on top is that these people don't even respect genuine artists. i've had multiple ai bros say stuff like "your art would look better with ai" which, first of all, is completely false. and also ive worked my butt off to get to the point i'm at now and to dismiss it with insults to my effort is such a slap in the face. thank you for supporting actual artists though, it's rough out there so outward support is appreciated
its honestly disturbing people would go out of their way to make nsfw ai of somehody elses SONA. like. thats their SONA... its like a personal piece of you, and to do all that especially without their consent is super super weird :( so sorry this even happened
Yeah, this is surreal, and i feel like i have seen this obsessive person before, i'm an artist, and i had someone REALLY obsessive about your character commenting on every post i did, asking me to do art just like that... This is concerning.
Rule34 of the Internet... "If it exist, then there is (Meep) about it." And thanks to AI, this gets more real. I mean... I even saw art of Twokinds's OCs and other quite famous OCs.
There are two sides to ai art. People who do normal stuff just for fun and people who should face legal consequences. Thanks to people abusing AI's it got a really bad reputation while honestly being great if used correctly. Im a writer. I like writing characters, giving them traits etc. ai helps to test certain combinations by giving me a chance to literally talk with what would be a character i want to make. As for the art side? As long as its not for comercial purpose or public posting it can reference itself on anything in my opinion. Just dont post someone's property saying "i made it" because i swear that crosses the line. Especially if the target is known.
Honestly, I would not terribly mind if [naughty images] existed of my character given whomever did so asked me beforehand, but therein lies the key: if one is going to make images of someone else’s character, one should ask the permission of that person beforehand. That’s just common sense, methinks.
Most people don't want Ai art of their character especially not NSFW Ai art and really there's nothing you can do about it. Talking about it invites people to do it more but not talking about will make the people doing it think it's ok.
I guess if you are a popular furry you will have to deal with AI slop NSFW of your fursona. Because it's no longer commisioned, it's generated, and all the freaks have access to it.
It technically is. Maverick is a character that Beta holds the IP of. Using that character, especially in a commercial setting (like a paid AI generator or on a monetized fanfic site) is technically IP infringement. While not a criminal offense, you can definitely send them a DMCA.
Comon sense ASK before making fan art The only time I personnaly think is okay to make fan art before asking is when no specific context added. By that I mean "oh I'm drawing their sona in my artstyle" Okay good but as soon as another character is added or a setting is added Ask cause adding a character might be someone they don't agree with just think of any political person as an extreme exemple but it could happen
As someone who had studied and worked with AI for a few years, it deeply saddens me to see what AI is often being used for especially in image creations. AI was interesting to work with but it hurts seeing my area of expertise being used in a way that harms artist's.
Hey Beta, just wanted to say that I'm glad I found your channel. I've been on the fence about whether or not I wanted to start getting involved in the furry community, and after watching a few of your videos I have decided to come out. (I'm not sure if that's the best way to phrase it but we're going with it) So thank you for helping me find a new part of myself. I'm currently in the process of coming up with my first fursona and it's harder than I thought haha
It’s very interesting how you can tell ai artwork is “soulless” because I almost always get that vibe. I have no way of explaining why it’s soulless but it just is. Edit: my character is pretty much immune as well because yay complex and specific fur pattern. I had a friend try with my permission to do ai generation of ink and it couldn’t even get that close
I have fortunately not had my characters taken into AI generation, at least as far as I am aware. As far as using other people's characters, I always make it a point to have written permission from the owner(s) and share that with the artists. Or more often, create group chats between the artist, myself and everyone else involved in the commission. It shows open consent and eagerness for the commission! While also giving everyone the opportunity to speak out and feel heard! Just be considerate and do awesome things together! Thank you for making videos like this
2:10 it's weird to be parasocial to the extent of it's someone's fursona/oc that is personal to that owner rather than a character from a show, movie, etc.

Well I definitely assumed some things were going to happen when I saw a lora for betas character last month or a bit before that. I didn't know there would be a full video on it. As somebody that posts Ai content I really honestly don't know if I would go to the point of literal desecration of an individual character or artwork through the means of having certain unsavory content in the not safe for work variety created because I did not like a video or something else about the maker or owner of that character ( I understand that it was not stated that is why somebody had nsfw content of your character created ). I honestly enjoy hearing both sides of the opinions of people especially artists I have communicated with involving Ai created content and what I see from you beta is no exception. I honestly think it's great you shrugged it away like you did. I have had plenty of unsavory things said to me or typed to me because I post furry content and Ai content and furry Ai content. I have also been blocked by mantly on X specifically because of the Ai content i post with not even a an explanationfrom the people who did it. These happened mainly after watching some artists. So I know how important shrugging away things can be, especially when being involved with something highly disliked. Keep up the great videos beta, the information and humor included in your content does wonders for entertainment.
I feel this. Although it hasn't happened to me to this extent, I used to have a sona that strangers would sexualize upon greeting. My sonas are never meant to be sexual. My girl had a spiked neck collar that I thought just looked good and with an hourglass body. As a result of so many strangers being shit at basic consent, I had a lot of gross interactions, and in return, I started to feel more uncomfortable towards my own sona. It got to a point that she was scrapped entirely. I wish people were more aware or caring of the impact that their sexualizing can make on people who they do not get consent from.
You do realize they can just... retrain it, right? Sure it's a waste of their time, but it's not like they don't have frequent backups of the various iterations they can just go back to.

While I understand your concerns about AI-generated NSFW art of your character, I want to remind everyone that AI can be a powerful tool for creators when used responsibly. You mentioned that you're against AI-generated art because it can harm freelance artists and steal from existing creators, but what if we could use AI to augment human creativity instead of replacing it? Maybe we can find ways to use AI to help artists with tasks like reference images or idea generation, while still maintaining the unique touch of human creativity. By embracing AI in a positive way, we can unlock new creative possibilities and make art more accessible to everyone. Just something to think about

Damn that's pretty messed up, it's one reason why I just dislike people in general and keep to myself. I haven't had anything like this happen to me but I had some people stalk me online and that was pretty concerning.
The difference between Death Wolf and Maverick is that Death Wolf is just a character from a story. A fursona represents a real person, who did not consent to them being used that way.
Im assuming this is basically the same feelings people that make cartoons/anime go through when they learn of their characters getting the same treatment. Nothing seems to be off limits to people that *really* like a character.
Truly the tip of a very big iceberg in the making, this point is. . Many decades ago, Star Trek explored a topic very similar to this when a crew member nicknamed 'Mr. Broccoli' (They gave him multiple episodes across multiple shows to refine these things with, BTW.) had a holodeck fantasy life. And without permission of any type, he created duplicates of his coworkers so that he could do as he wished with them... in varying roles. It makes for some interesting viewing as the 'real' characters come face to face with their duplicates and debate the ethical points about all this. . And... here we are. The first steps of the machine being able to replicate and conduct alternative versions of ourselves at the user's whims. Today, 'photos' and 'artistic creations of'. Tomorrow... let's face it. 'Live porno shows' and lord knows what else. And I'm truly unsure about what there is to be done about it. Claim art theft. But it's mostly boiled down between two parties. The robber and the robbed. Requesting any on-line hosts to intervene and remove the unauthorized replica(s). I can see it becoming far worse if the training is not just localized to the 'obsessed fan', but enters the generalized domain of the AI's collection of data. Such a genie seems almost uncorkable. Why, if that happens, I could easily see some big, expensive corporation going to an AI to make some mascot for some sort of produce... and it 'dreams up' your character to place on the packages. Or your character is printed to a large sticker and stuck to a city light post. Or literally anything. We, the owners of our characters, can choose to get upset. But is the fight even worthwhile, even if some legal laws give some kind of cemented grasp to utilize against the theft? . Then again, I am also looking at the other side of all this. Innocents utilizing AI to make wonderful things. And then getting into a nightmare blood festival when owners of source materials start getting a law to grasp and go on a rampage of lawsuits when they find even a trace scrap of what they deem to be theirs. It's going to be a new wild west of issues when this dam breaks.
Funny thing about training models or LORAs (smaller models designed to enhance larger ones) is the politics involved. One major rule is: you must own the art you feed into the AI. If someone uses your art without permission in a model, you can report it, prove it’s yours, and have it removed. But here’s the catch-since these models are downloadable, they can still be used locally, out of reach. It’s a reminder that people should respect artists’ work rather than exploiting it to churn out more artificial art. On the flip side, AI training can also lead to fascinating results. Some models recreate the styles of artists who stopped creating long ago or mix different styles to make something truly unique. It’s bittersweet, though, when such potential is overshadowed by unethical practices.
I saw different nsfw “artwork” but with generally the same theme and there are a lot more. I don’t know if beta would be okay with me sharing where considering he didn’t want to, so I won’t unless green lighted.

The concerned faces on the furrsuit heads is so silly :3
Just because you CAN, doesn’t mean you SHOULD.
This is the perfect example.
Stop…please. To those select ai “artists”.
For me AI is like Tanks. They are both very interesting from a technical standpoint, but questionable from an ethics standpoint.
That is a great observation
I thought it was more like pawing, sure it can feel good but nearly no one wants to see you do it. More so if you decide to use others to get off, great chance if the person knew they would not be anywhere near as happy as you are about it. If you really want others to see AI spaces exist and even then most people still are selective in what they want to see.

nsfw ai slop is just a *plague* on the various adult sites, in general
the worst part is that whatever generator these people are using is slowly improving, so it's more and more difficult to distinguish generated crap from actual artwork if you forget to blacklist the ai tags (thankfully the art style kinda stands out due to how slightly uncanny it looks, especially if you saw many generated images before)
i generate stuff on occasion (it's usually sfw unless i feel like experimenting, but that's super rare nowadays), but i never consider the stuff art
to me, an image generator is more like a toy than anything - just something you mess around with, and then move on when you're bored
and it's very easy to notice distracting details - a problem with perspective here, a misaligned piece of the background there, or even a distorted hand
That is the key. Drench yourself in AI art. When you see just one or two, it can be super hard to determine. But when you see tons... it's like the soulless pictures link the clues together. Even that won't hold up for too long. The thing is racing for improvements by the day.
@jupreindeer right now you just have to check the background to see if the image was generated - the details get smudged to hell: unreadable text, distorted symbols, distant skylines with weird buildings and windows, etc.
and if there's a line of some sort going behind the main thing in the image, it most likely won't continue where it's supposed to - it might be lower, or higher, or it might disappear entirely
at some point the generator just gives up, because it doesn't have enough data and because things can only get so small
also, the art style is directly connected to the model used for the generation - the green site is a great example of that, after seeing enough nsfw images, you'll eventually be able to recognise the same uncanny art style that i could only describe as "slightly rubbery and/or plasticky, and if it's not any of these things, something about it just makes you pause, but don't quite know why until you see the small distortions"
now, if it's something that's supposed to be abstract (like a landscape that was painted in vincent van gogh's style, in which case the generator would mainly be inspired by the starry night painting) you'd have less luck, as the details would be either nonexitant or deliberately distorted
when i said that i generate stuff "on occasion", i meant that i *nowadays* generate images on occasion
back when there was a boom on generators, i used dall-e mini, now known as craiyon, to make abominations, like basically everyone else
then there's dall-e 2
but my current generator of choice is a webui program instead - there are no filters in the way, which means that there are even more ways to have fun before moving on

Oh no! Poor Beta, I was laughing at the start of the video, but after the first 5-6minutes I couldn't stop saying "oh no!" I feel for you Beta, and thanx for the content, I feel better about some stuff I've put up with too.
Its crazy. I do not follow but i am a little fond of a famous artist. Its sad that the AI even learned to literally copy the watermark. It is insane.

@maw5646 I don’t, I just don’t like most social media. Even if I did I still wouldn’t post pics of my sona
They can make their own OC and feed that to AI generators.
That's what I've been doing with generative ai. I won't make it make images of other people's ocs(without their permission), but it's a great way to get visual representation of my own ocs.
I also won't post them online.
If someone ever makes nsfw art of my fursona without my consent I will be signing a restraining order.
It’s what the internet does. However, AI is the bad part here
@JacobMead-ph1cx yeah, it's quickly generated, which is very bad when it comes to nsfw
@JacobMead-ph1cx I'd argue making NSFW of/with someone else's fursona without permission or regard for the owners feelings is ... very wrong. Like sexual harassment territory at most, and disrespectful at least, full stop. No hate to you, btw, just wanted to point that out.
ive had my OC drawn in an nsfw drawing, and while i dont really care and already accepted the fact this is what the internet does, but the fact that right now im not a well-known artist, aswell as a minor, is what bothers me

yea ai CAN be useful (although glue on pizza is not a good idea)
its just when its misused, like basically anything else. has its time and place
@@OnePoundBird Na AI shines for stuff like glue on pizza. Should be used for ideas too inane to ask a person to do. Plus for stuff like that sometimes the curse factor of the AI makes it even better.
@@OnePoundBird I agree
You can tell a hyperfixation vs an obsession in an instant
I've dared AI Artists to try making my sona. Not a single success so far, and I'm proud that mine's hard for bots to replicate.
This is the part where you send a cease and desist.
the fursuit head eyelids upsidedown in the background made me spit out my water osdubiugybk
I think it's great that you're sparking a conversation about AI-generated artwork, Beta.
Just something to think about
im sorry to hear that its honestly scary and i hope it dosent continue im worried about the obsessions some people have its unnerving
Congrats, you've passed a popularity threshold on the internet.
Dawg, I'd legit feel uncomfortable 💀
But what can ya actually do about it.
Id just ignore em idk..there's always a solution I guess...
Moving on, this is f*cked up
And para-social relationships are a concern.
Its been a problem for many throughout the years.
Omfg its scat on the thumbnail
Thanks for knocking out of me any and all morbid curiosity i had about seeing that AI "artwork"
Yeah I'm out, peace ✌️
I’m so sorry Beta but the imagery of someone on Twitter like asking if they can commission one of your sona’s getting like raw dogged by like 50 different people or something like that written in such traumatizing detail and you having to read through ALL of that to decide if you want to say yes or not and it’s got me ROLLING😭😭😭
Remember if you have shown those pieces of art online anyone can pause , copy , and paste .
I used to not give a shit about ai art as long as you aren't claiming that you made it or using it for ads but now we need to stop ai
Im assuming this is basically the same feelings people that make cartoons/anime go through when they learn of their characters getting the same treatment. Nothing seems to be off limits to people that *really* like a character.
I hear you beta and on a side note. Love the posters and concerned looks on the fursuit heads
my condolences
Unrelated but the concerned eyebrows on your fursuits in the back is amazin
It's going to be a new wild west of issues when this dam breaks.
my faith for humanity just got smaller (not a anti furry) but why ok maverick is likeable but this goes to far
Exactly!!
You couldn’t make a more crazy title.
13:48 it's really adorable when our bro does this 👉👈
