- Today, a disassembly of a small knife which is a bit more complicated, and in which I am simultaneously a wizard and an idiot. Enjoy, as a part of today's celebration of Spyderco Disassembly!
Also, note that Spyderco has now changed their warranty policy so that disassembly is A-OK and Red-Loctite is banished. For more information: • Spyderco just fixed th...

Nick... first off... THANK YOU for your videos!
As others have mentioned... your pivot screw is coming in from the wrong side. If you look at your FRN Dragonfly, that is also used in this video, you will see that all of the screws enter the frame from the opposite side than you are entering from. I also have this G10 Dragonfly and a G10 Delica... the screws all enter from the clip side (assuming your clip is for RH carry).
Shabazz you are a hillarious host... Really glad I found this channel
Your pivot nut & screw assembly is backwards which is why the screw head seems tall. Actually all three have the nut entered from the show side of the knife. Still functional obviously.
Yep. I was about to say to the same thing. But, you beat me to it.
Thanks for the video. Loved your funny asides and enjoyed your accent.
Thanks I own A dragonfly G10 and this will be helpful once I need to do some cleaning on it.
Thank you much for this video, I have the same model and found it difficult the first time disassembling.
I might pick one of these guys up. Also I sincerely hope they do a wharncliffe delica in this handle configuration.
Great video thanks. I have a fairly new one that’s been carried little but has some gritty feeling when opening/closing. The newness of it keeps me from disassembling, and recommendation on getting this grit out without taking apart? Thanks Nick
Nick, my pivot on the G10-D-fly drops into the recess but remains proud by about 15/1000ths. The backside is flush. This is a factory fit-never been apart. Hope it helps.
Thanks for this vid! I have this same knife. My pivot screw sticks out a little on both sides too.
Hey nick. The reason the pivot wasn't fitting was because you had it going through the wrong side. Also all of the back screws were installed through the wrong side. Only reason I know is because I had the same issue with mine!
Can I change the blade from an FRN dragonfly to a g10 one or they have some little difference?
yes you can change the blade from an frn to g10 and vice versa.
Cool that's my next project. I've got a vtoku2 one and want to put the blade on g10 one .In the same time I'll rit dye the g10 too ( I choose teal , finger cross for a positive result )
Hi Nick, can you please provide the dimensions of these washers? I've lost mine and am looking for a replacement.
Opinion change about mixing lubricants now? Thx for making vid, Lots of pieces there. Will help when I clean mine.
No relation to this specific video, just wanted to tell ya that I love your videos. So nice to watch with feet up and a glass of whisky in hand.
I think maybe it about time you invest a torx screwdriver set, instead of a just a handle with interchangeable bits. :-)
Does the G10 Version also have a stronger/thicker spring for the backlock mechanism?
Simon says is not that hard to crop out irrelevant historical content from digital media. For the fun and giggles you provided to me I offer to do the edit if time is an issue for you and if such action is desirable to you. 👍🏻 (decade long experience in digital AV recording and editing)
I have not managed to disassemble due to the lanyard tube. I don’t understand how yours got loose so easy.
Strange thing about these little knives, they are almost as expensive as larger ones. Must be all the handwork in the frn models. Must be hours of polishing the parts that increases the price. (Hmmm)...But I still like em.
Picked up a regular dragonfly 2 for 49 dollars and the list price for the g10 was 149 dollars, alittle too much for me!
Nick Shabazz: The musical
I literally disassembled my Dragonfly H1 for the first time yesterday. What are the odds?
My G-10 Dragonfly pivot screw does not sit totally flush with the G-10. But its close.
gotta love the Lil dragonfly
Will spyderco send a replacement wire clip?
which one do you prefer out of the two
+JUAN ARMENDARIZ FRN.
screws are reversed, the smooth side should be on the non clip side.
Sir Galath agreed. Mine too for a right hand clip.
Is the g10 version any thicker than the normal FRN?
very much so
Wish I could just get the scales love my vg10 dragon fly but not a fan of the frn
are you gonna throw out every video of a spyderco you recorded before they changed their warranty policy? :D
+Porzelinchen92 Lol. Just four. I've been looking for an excuse to drop these videos, as they don't go with a review. And in light of the news, a festival of disassembly seemed prudent.
I use WD-40 all the time -- to remove water from the knife. After that, it's time to remove the WD-40 and then properly lube it!
You should look into adding annotations to your spyderco videos.
(I'm sure you've already considered it. Just giving my own voice to the situation.)
Hair reveal
I'm not discounting the possibility of a wig, tactically placed to put Greg Medford off the scent.
Oh my we seen the back of your head
4:46 I literally hit my Dragonfly G10 with WD-40 like 2 minutes ago, fml
I would just insert the screw first, and then put the clip over it. Just my opinion.
Nick does have hair
@ 1:30 back of head reveal!!!!
he has brown hair
unscripted? hahaah
