    I also like the rugged appearance of the Buffalo. Minor flaws don’t bug me too badly. But higher quality assurance would be nice for such a pricey coin. And frankly some state of the art security features on US Mint coins would be a step in the right direction. Best wishes!

    I absolutely love the unevenness of my buffalos. It’s what makes them so unique, authentic and how to me, real gold should feel like. Can’t stand the uniformity of my other coins. They have such lack of character compared to my gorgeous, bumpy and uneven buffalos.

    I once stacked 25 2020 silver britannias next to 25 2021 silver britannias and one stack looked like one coin taller than the other.
    A side view of a Buffalo stack vs a gold eagle stack might show the bad tolerances multiplying. Or a more dramatic leaning tower of Buffalos.

    • @2is1gold
      @2is1gold  2 года назад +2

      Odd on the Britannias. Rim differential? A stack of 20 Buffalos, all lined up consistently leans precariously. If you aren't careful, they'll topple. Eagles are completely straight. Clearly, we care more than most people or the Mint would be forced to work on it! 😅

Now, I haven't received mine as they are in transit, but hoping they arrive in the BU condition I purchased but if not, well ... It would be interesting to see the minting process in action on these. I have not seen the same on AGEs either. I assume it is something proprietary with the 24k as you suggest. I visualize machinery cutting, punching, stamping and conveyoring these things at a rapid pace and going into a bin somewhere to then be separated out and packaged bulk into armored vehicles, or just the USPS truck, or carrier pigeon. Perth Mint to U.S. Mint - "Time to step up your game!" The uneven rim on the UHR coin would make me a little bi-polar. Which pole? Well, you can guess. Glad you didn't draw blood getting that buffalo out of the cage. Good for you for understanding modern bullion as just that - bullion.

      I'd like to see it as well - I've seen parts of the process, but not the actual strike. The striking press either comes down in a radial arc or the die is on some kind of pivot joint. A straight hydraulic press wouldn't allow this. I blame robots. 😄

    Why do you think the "Mint Direct" APMEX tubes would provide better coins than the monster boxes of other dealers? They are not selected coins. The Mint Direct really only provides an assurance that the coins are not the non-slabbed returns from a normal dealer mass-grading submission. And, the U.S.Mint has put out notices that with their inventory control system even they cannot determine which coins are "first strikes"... pure money grubbing by the TPGs.

    • @2is1gold
      @2is1gold  2 года назад

      The QA process is more extensive at the start of the run, and the first strike means they’re within 30 days of that start. No particular guarantees beyond that, but any dealer that understands marketing would never package random quality coins as premium. Cheers!
