For the Farseer build I can understand using Ancestral Swiftness to make Healing Rain free, instant cast, and enhance its damage and healing, but I don’t understand the suggestion to use it with Unleash Life in dungeon content. I would imagine you don’t care about Healing Rain/Downpour affecting 2 additional targets in 5 man content. That’s all Unleash Life does for Healing Rain according to the tooltip.
You definitely do not care about UL + HR in M+ although I think in big pulls you can get it to damage extra enemies (acid rain). Regardless, if I said that, it was probably part of the opener for Farseer where you cast UL to summon one grandpa and then you press NS to summon another. At this point it doesn't make sense to press a healing spell unless your tank is getting obliterated so the only button left is HR. Later in the pull though, definitely combine UL with CH or ST healing spell for sure!
as farseer i sit at 70-95% mana, as totemic i drop to 50% after first trash pack, that is while utilizing totems and casting CH only when buffed by tidal waves. How/Why?
Well, the trick is not to cast the Chain Heals at all and just drop totems instead to do it for you. You are correct though, Totemic eats through mana like candies and it will get better when you get more gear and tier set but even then you can play Farseer if it feels better
This is very helpful, but when I'm looking at what the top mythic+ guys are gearing, they're prioritising Crit and mastery over versatility, and getting around 10% haste. I'm 606ilevel playing totemic and quite new to shaman coming from druid. I've got 3/4 tier set and I want to craft some gear but not sure which stats to put on them. Halp
Nothing wrong in looking at the top guys, just remember that they are playing different game from what we are playing. Mastery would give you some hps increase (the more, the lower the health of your target) but generally you are going to scale much better with vers. It also gives you hps but it also gives you DR and damage so after crit I would stack that. Having said that, Mastery could be reaaaaaally good in raid, especially in prog and I'd definitely advise you to stack some there but not in M+. Haste is really optional. It's nice to have some so the game doesn't feel bad and for some people that's the 10% mark, for others it's different but you don't really need that to succeed as you have things like Tidal Waves and Tidebringer to speed your casts up. Long story short, if in doubt go for crit and vers and you'll be totally fine.
@@thelegendbehindthecow yeah your recommendation makes perfect sense. I've just been in decision paralysis picking which stats to go on my weapon at the moment. Thank you so much for the help. Your shields weak aura has been so helpful for my gameplay. You're such a legend. If you have another moment, that shields weak aura has those nice icons with the rounded corners. I looked in your discord and couldn't find anybody else asking, but how did you get them to have the rounded edges?
@@callum.dokkodo Hm, first that WA is made by Elitesparkle, not myself, I'm just sharing so may be asking him would be better. But then all of my icons look like that. I don't see how you can possibly drop Tidebringer in the Totemic Build. Even if your totems are doing the most chain healing, it just makes sense to have this ability in your back pocket to be able to chain heal much more effectively.
By all means, take it! As many talents that I mentioned in the video - if you can make them work for you, then that should be your choice. Personally, I end up not casting CH almost at all playing Totemic so no point to take that talent. Last season you played that talent so you can machine gun a couple of CH in a dire situation and then you revert back to casting the slow ones anyway. Now you can machine gun a couple of CH with your totems sooooo you can see where I'm going. Doesn't mean that the talent is bad though :)
The chain heals from your totems utilise the tidebringer buff. As in the chain heal gets the added range, but doesn't spend a stack of the buff. Idk how good it is, I just see some top dogs in m+ using it @@thelegendbehindthecow
That is correct! However, one ancestor should be up like 100% of the time so the haste would be more useful only in the short window after you NS and you have a couple rolling.... Not saying haste is bad, I personally like to stack a little bit so the game feels better but if the sole reason is to pump in those 6 seconds, may be investing in other stats is better.
It kills me that we can’t macro Nature’s/Ancestral Swiftness into stuff. It’s off the GCD… so why is it so clunky!? I want to play it but it’s awful having extra buttons so I just do undulation so I only have 1 extra and just suffer through AS being clunky
@Waevform you can. I do it with pwave in farseer/riptide. Keep in mind it can desync since the cd doesn't start until used. I will usually rain or hw instantly after pwave to get the cd rolling again
UL gives you more control and the ability to have the ancestor up 100% of the time if you use it on CD. More so, UL also buffs your throughput but you can also choose to buff your aoe healing instead of just single target healing. That said, Undulation is not bad either. You can totally give it a shot and if you like it better and it works for you instead of UL, then stick with it for sure.
😩 shaman has so many keybinds compared to my resto druid .. I've mained resto druid since BFA and it's in the dumpster currently. I don't mind shaman but damn the learning curve is so high since I've neglected to really play it past leveling to max level every xpac
Yeah, I can see that. I've always played shaman so I'm used to the button bloat but it could be quite overwhelming at the start. Just take it slow - I have a video up with basic build for low level keys with some buttons taken out of the build just to make it easier to learn, may be that will help a bit!
Good point! I haven't made one yet although that's in the TODO list. May be Jak has one? Even if he doesn't, I'll try to conjure up something in the new couple of days.
Wild indeed, you should not do that and I have a video with useful WeakAuras that will remind you to change your talents before the dungeon starts. Check it out if you'd like :)
Honestly, it's not even that good right now so you can totally drop it for some of the other mentioned talents. The only good part is the very short cooldown which makes it sort of ok but I don't know.... may be it's time they remove that s*** for resto shamans all together. Basically noone likes it!
Pwave honestly isn't really that good atm. For all the setup it requires (even though you should probably already have riptides rolling on at least a few party members) its healing is very underwhelming. I would expect pwave, for its cooldown and required setup, to be able to top up the party by a good chunk. Heals for way too little currently. Even with UL buff.
@@KC-py5vq We all do really but they are keeping it because it's really nice for the DPS specs so it's kind of "shared" and "emblematic" shaman spell. Little they care that it sucks for healers
@@zerodivided3676 Yeah man, and I didn't mention this in the video but you are also getting Tidewaters to get it, which is not that great for M+ either. So basically you can save 2 points and play something else.

Cheers and thank you! At the end of the day I think everyone should try both hero talents and see which one works better for them. You can push your keys and KSM with both, don't worry about what top players are playing, their game is quite different from what we are playing :)

Haste can help a lot with Farseer builds since it lets your ancestors cast more spells during their short lives
