I'd like to work on some guides about M+ next. In the meantime, I'd recommend checking out the channel @Vlox_Gaming . He makes some pretty awesome M+ content for warlocks!
can you also look into lorrgs, and integrating the timeline into MRT? there's also an MRT timeline weakaura to track the cooldowns you put in the note.
Wow, I was not familiar with this website, thanks for mentioning it. I'm looking at it now and Lorrgs seems pretty awesome! That being said, I do not have a lot of experience using MRT, but I will look into it too and see what I can learn about it.
This was really useful, thanks! Even though I'm playing rsham and getting high parse is more about how few healers the group had relative to raid size, the process is still really useful.
15:15 Also important to consider when comparing to others of your item level, all item level brackets are not created equal. The higher your item level, the more competitive it gets. Almost all the best players are in those higher item level brackets.
100% true. The better players in each guild will generally get funneled the gear, or get better gear from higher level content like high m+ or higher difficulty in the raid, making higher ilvl parses more competitive. On the flip side, if you are progressing this week at a lower item level, you can compare your parses to those of the highly competitive people from a week or two ago when they were around your current ilvl. But yeah, the longer the tier goes on, the less competitive lower ilvl gets.
So this video was very informative on how to use WCL to improve your parses etc. What do you suggest to do for just general rotation? How do you improve that/know you've got it down? I'm using hekili, and it's nice but I feel like it's a crutch, and I want to be free. I feel like there's a lot of DPS left on the table since hekili is obviously limited to whatever code/API it runs off of
Something really important to note, there is still a small cut of the community to have even killed the boss. If you are in a guild, your logs will always look better because of fight duration and reps on a specific strategy. Parsing in premade finder or partial guild groups will always have lesser results
Yeah, that is true. Generally guild groups/boosting communities will be the better places to parse. Realistically though, a pretty good pug could also be a place to parse well. Finding a good pug is the hard part though
@@krozothebozo And that's why all of this is imho completely stupid and pointless. I used to ask my supporters to give me exclusive buff rotations and tried to avoid responsibility with mechanics just for the big parses. Complete ridiculous. And now PUGs are good for parses? What's the point....?! Anything between blue and purple should be just fine as long as other metrics (damage taken for example) are fine and you don't die to mechanics etc. Gatekeeping people from things because they're not 99ers makes no sense. Not everyone can be a 99er, that's simply mathematically not possible
@@WrenKainIV Not quite. While I think you make a valid point, for a lot of people, this is still very useful information. People aren't optimizing what they're doing even in clean scenarios. It's 100% possible. And I've seen people 90-95% parse in pugs too, I'm just not that guy.
I keep a lot of trinkets/rings on me incase I want to try a different set of stats/trinket for certain bosses or dungeons. Generally, though, I almost always wear the same items.
Is the hekilli addon actually helpful in helping improve your rotation? I started using it so i can focus more on mechanics and have the addon show me whats next in the rotation. is that bad?
So I've never used the hekilli addon, so I can't really say for sure. There is nothing wrong with using an addon to learn the rotation, but I definitely prefer just whacking a target dummy forever and practicing that way. My biggest concern with an addon like that is that it won't necessarily teach you the spec, but instead make you rely on the addon to perform, if that makes sense.
My problem is on the darkside of the spells atm, Im not losing any nightfall stack/spell duration during drain soul, neither succulent souls, however, comparing a few logs with same fight duration/ilvl I see people casting like 10-15 more raptures and drain souls than me, is this just rng generating shards ? (I also drop shards to 1 whenever I became near soulrot CD). Does normal drain soul needs to be cast until it finishes? I mean is it important to finish all the drain without nightfall proc? also should I store a few shards outside soulrot/darkglare windows to wait for crescendo/suculent random procs? taking care I wont be shard cap (since Im not losing any succuluent souls it doesnt make much sense to store shards for it tho) Thanks
RNG is definitely a factor, which can be pretty annoying. Not only with regular shard generation but nightfall procs too. A few things to keep in mind: You can always drain soul an add that is dying to generate an extra soul shard Unstable Affliction being on a target as it dies will also always give a soul shard, so applying to an add before they die will give you an extra shard The "Tormented Crescendo" makes it so that you NEED to be using drain soul/shadow bolt on the enemy with Unstable affliction, otherwise you will not get ANY procs. The "Ravenous Afflictions" talent, when specced, is also RNG but can factor into the amount of procs you get in a fight. From what you've written it sounds like you are playing correctly, though. I occasionally get distracted or get a mechanic and waste a proc here and there or overcap on shards, the fact that you are being mindful of that shows you have the right idea. For normal drain soul, you don't need to finish the whole cast, it is just your filler ability. This might be why some people have more drain soul casts than you. If something more important comes up, like a nightfall proc, cancel the normal drain soul and do the important thing. You can also go into the compare feature on WCL, find another warlock, and when you are comparing, go to the "Buffs" tab. Then, search for nightfall or tormented crescendo and see what the proc difference is like. When it comes to holding shards between soul rot windows, It depends on the fight honestly. Are there adds coming up, is there a priority target that needs to die, will you be dealing with mechanics for a while, etc. I'll usually just have one or two shards banked up between SR windows, unless I need to burst a priority add/use seed of corruption/vile taint. Sorry for such a long reply, lol. Wanted to address everything you mentioned.
logs are a bit weird when it comes to m+, but you can take principles about your class from people in raids and convert them to m+. how others sync up their CDs, what kinds of gears, or what buttons they seem to prioritize, etc..
@Vanjince yes! You need to go to the log and click the name of the player you want to see. Then, find the 'summary' tab. It is directly left of the 'damage done' tab. From there you can see their exact talents, gear, stats, etc...
12:07 I wouldn't say getting an early kill makes it easier to parse higher. The earliest kills of bosses are generally made up of the best players... if anything that would make it harder. Just like how it's harder to parse high in Mythic, even though there are far fewer kills. (In your example your DPS almost didn't increase at all over the course of a week -- the fact that you retained almost the same rank, if anything, implies that it was less competitive.)
Totally fair. In my mind there is not really a defined strategy on how to do optimal dps on the boss when you kill it early, so if you can find that yourself, it will be much easier to parse. The competition of people killing the boss in the first week generally just want to kill it and progress further into the raid. So, knowing when to use CDs/what enemies to hit to effectively parse will let you stand out against a smaller population of people killing the boss (even if the smaller number of players killing the boss are higher skill level on average).
It is hard to give a straight answer about stat weights. Everyone's armor sets are completely different so I can't give a concrete answer. I can give some tips, though. You can use RaidBots and sim your characters "stat weights", which will give you an approximate value of how beneficial stat increases are of each stat. Using phantom singularity instead of VT, PSing the boss before adds spawn, precasting seed, and using soul rot as the adds spawn would be the best setup for phase one. Still learning to optimize but the principle of lining up cooldowns for certain parts of the fight still stands. I did get some stacks of the buff from the SR talent too, which was the point. Logs are a bit of a bait. I can log 99% on heroic fights, but for mythic you simply just can't pad a boss / adds and ignore mechanics. Your guild WILL tell you to soak, run out, do X do Y do Z and so on. There will also be much less total logs, and parses will be compared to those of your same spec.
