The more vintage/classic shoes have more personality to them that modern designs seem to miss. I'd love to see you discussing double-breasted suits at some point since I'm a fan of the way they look.
I appreciate the fact that someone like you, trying to be classic and elegant, uses Kiwi shoe polish. In America, that's generally considered to be a cheap, "corner store" polish. A lot of Americans in the classic menswear space swear by fancy brands like Saphir, but you're demonstrating that its not necessary to spend a lot on high end polish or cream to do a good job. To be fair, I personally do prefer Saphir creams for solid color shoes, just because they have so much pigment in them. And the wax is easier to work with for me. That being said, it's nice to see demonstrated that it's not necessary. Nice video, for sure!
Watching Niklas talk about vintage men's' shoes= I'm female with zero interest in men's shoes but the way he explains is so fascinating. He could explain how to scrub your floor or chop broccoli or anything and it would still be fascinating.

For me, Berwick 1707 work well in terms of value for money. Their "house last" fits me quite nicely, the leather is rather soft right off the bat and the overall construction is sufficiently neat (around the same level as Allen Edmonds etc.). Personally, I would stay clear of shoes by Charles Tyrwhitt: A pair I own is made of inferior "bookbinder leather", which simply won't soften up and doesn't take any conditioners/shoe creams. Apart from that, the sole seems to wear out prematurely.

Den Fehler habe ich aber früher auch oft gemacht, habe mir Designerschuhe, die 800€ gekostet haben, für die Hälfte des Preises gekauft. Dann habe ich mir (damals habe ich noch in Berlin gewohnt) ein paar Maßschuhe anfertigen lassen und habe mich mit der Schuhmacher-Meisterin unterhalten. Sie hat mir davon abgeraten, Schuhe, die bereits von einer anderen Person getragen wurden, second hand zu kaufen. Sie meinte, dass sich bereits nach 2-3x Tragen das Fussbett des Schuhes verändert, es passt sich nach und nach der Fußform des Trägers an. Wenn also jetzt die nächste Person den gebrauchten Schuh trägt, kann es zu orthopädischen Fehlstellungen kommen. Wenn man sich bespoken Schuhe nicht leisten kann, (ich habe auch nur 1 paar, die mich 1200 Euro gekostet haben) dann lieber ein paar neue Schuhe aus dem mittleren Preissegment kaufen. Ich kaufe seitdem immer lieber ein paar Schuhe weniger, dafür aber in guter Qualität. Die Maßschuhe habe ich nun schon über 10 Jahre und trage sie auch ab und zu (zeitloses Modell, schwarzes Leder). Das stimmt, daß bei rahmengenähten Schuhen ("Goodyear welted") das Korkbett sich so an die Fußform anpassen kann, daß dies bei gebrauchten Schuhen unangenehm werden kann. Das Problem tritt nur bei rahmengenähten Schuhen auf, bei Blake stitched ("durchgenähten") Schuhen gibt es das nicht, und bei Schuhen mit geklebten Sohlen ohnehin nicht. Ich kenne die Schwierigkeiten, da ich sehr viele meiner Schuhe von Ebay bzw. Ebay-Kleinanzeigen kaufe - allerdings würde ich nur bei einigen wenigen Schuhen davon sprechen, daß mich dies beeinträchtigt. Aber wenn es zu unangenehm wird, dann gibt es immer noch die Möglichkeit, die Außensohle erneuern zu lassen. Dann wird nämlich auch das Korkbett ersetzt und dann ist das Problem erledigt. Also, selbst wenn man diese Reparatur noch einrechnet, ist es immer noch billiger, als sich ein Paar ganz neuer Schuhe zu leisten - von Maßschuhen einmal ganz zu schweigen. Alles Gute!
Great work on your channel. It's funny that in Germany AEs are expensive and rare in your eyes whereas in America they are considered good but not especially high class. North Americans will gravitate to the more snobbish brands like Carmina, John Lobb or Crockett/Jones which are very expensive! Just goes to show you that we always think that if it's foreign its better! BTW I favor AEs also and my spectator Ridge fields are similar to yours, Bravo!
You are all missing a cobblers shoe shine trick, castor oil rubbed over the leather, clear, high shine, sinks in quickly and makes the leather real soft after a couple of uses. I also put a little into my coloured shoe polishes. It will appear to darken shoes very slightly but its almost imperceptible once its dried. I warm the bottle in a cup of hot water to make it spread quickly in a thinner coat. Only a tiny amount needed on a sponge or cloth. Incredibly cheap as well bought from chemists. Best remedy for cracked leather, better than shoe cream, doesn't turn white over time.

I started using it few months ago as I have heard from many shoe enthusiasts it's the best brand in shoe care products. I have to say I am very pleased with the products. Ah boots. The Balmoral boots might be improved by submerging them in water until saturated, then wearing them for the day around the house. This wet molds the leather to your foot and helps you set the creases where your ankle and the ball of your foot flex. Then add glycerine the next day to keep the leather pliable.
I HiGHLY recommend picking up a can of saphir shoe polish. Its all natural and made in paris and is far superior to kiwi. Its a bit pricy but creates a shine like no other.

Marken die zu empfehlen sind, sind unter anderem Allen Edmonds, Alden, Meermin, Santoni, Loake, John Lobb, Trickster, Crockett and Jones, Carlos Santos, Carmina, Ludwig Reiter und so weiter. Wichtiger als die Marke ist allerdings, dass sie rahmengenäht sind (dadurch ist das wechseln der Sohle einfacher) und gut sitzen. Die Größe findet man leider nur heraus, wenn man in einen Laden geht, um einen Schuh anzuprobieren. Manchmal ein bisschen schwierig die Marken zu finden und zweitens auch grenzwertig, wenn man nur seine Größe wissen will, um bei Ebay zu kaufen. Neben Ebay findet man Lederschuhe teilweise auch auf Kleiderkreisel sehr günstig, weil diese dort nicht so nachgefragt sind. Und beim Kauf auf ein intaktes Oberleder und tiefe Kratzer im Leder achten. Diese lassen sich nicht entfernen. Eine abgelaufene Sohle neu zu machen ist immer möglich und kostet je nach Material und Schuster zwischen 40 und 100 Euro. Und immer Schuhspanner und alle 2 bis 3 Wochen fettende, pigmentierte Schuhcreme benutzen. Dadurch leben die Schuhe deutlich länger und bekommen einen netten Glanz. Wachs kann man machen muss man aber nicht unbedingt. Klassische Schuhe haben eine geschlossene Schnürung und heißen Oxfords. Diese unterscheiden sich in Wholecut, Captoe und Brogue. Mehr fällt mir gerade nicht ein.

Shoepassion is a German brand which makes some nice classic shoes. Although they aren't exactly 'vintage' seeing as they are a young company.

Velour heißt auf Englisch "suede". Das ist Französisch und bedeutet "schwedisch". Klingt komisch, ist aber so.
