Can't believe I almost completely nailed a collar through watching your other videos alone. The tragedy is I did it all by hand and thus button holes destroyed what was left of my soul.

Looks fun. I usually have a separate piece for my undercollar, as I normally include pockets for stays, but that wouldn't be authentic for detachables, i suppose...
Just a heads up on Frixxon pens: the ink doesn't disappear with heat, the heat just turns the ink transparent. If you put your collar in the freezer, or if you wear it outside in cold winter weather, the ink will re-appear, unless you wash it out completely.

The more I visit this channel, the more I find the kind of things I've been after since when I got interested in early 20th century fashion. Sometimes it feels like things are "tailored" onto you. Jokes apart, thank you Vintagebursche, your content never disappoints me, I think I'll consider buying your tailoring guide. Oh, and I can't wait to make myself a jolly good club collar to go with my new suit and tunic shirt. I'm also currently working on my first black tie waistcoat and wing collar. hope my sewing project turns out well enough, I'm still not very good at sewing ahah

Just the thing! In a move across the country, my pair of leather collar boxes became just the one. Whilst Imperial collars are nice and good, most workdays even in electronics design can't cope with an Imperial. Your tutorial is excellent and the book seems "a necessity" to go with Cabrera and Antoine.

These pre-made ones, for the lazy ones like me in the EU, on eBay are mostly coming from UK wedding costume rental businesses, and are in fractional inches. How do I measure the size and order the right ones? The actual neck circumference (inside the shirt collar) or outside the shirt collar (inside the detachable starched collar)? Are you planning on making a video on how to buy from eBay in regard to the items from the UK - as at the end of this year UK will be outside the EU customs union so the (expensive) items ordered from the UK sellers may attract customs duty charges. Please correct me if I am wrong.

Yess I was waiting for this, thank you!
Could you maybe release a version without the voiceover, so in german?
And another question: If I draft my own collar pattern , do draft it exactly the same as I would if I'd want to attach it to a shirt in the modern way? Or do I have to do something differently (appart from finishing the bottom of the undercollar of course)?

    • @Vintagebursche

Your Sewing Machine may be an old model.. however it's superior to all the modern domestic ones available to the public because your's came already factory built into the centre of a sturdy metal and thick wooden table which supports and keeps flat the item you're making. Everything: especially larger and heavier sewing projects "fall off" the edges of newer Sewing Machines (making heavy or lined drapes are a nightmare) nearly all of which aren't at all built-in to any sort of table or platform.
