Great idea! Yes, You can change up the sizing to match whatever size you would need. You can also use whatever color you would like as well!

For a couch throw blanket, the sizes are usually 50 inches wide by 60 inches long. You will just need to change up the multiples of your chain to get your desired width. I can't say how many chains that would be offhand, but you can always measure the size you need. Good luck!

You could try making a few rounds of hdc or herringbone half double crochet. That would be pretty!
