This is a lovely tutorial, I'm a beginner, and it was very easy to follow. Thank you 😊
I’m glad to hear that! Happy crocheting! 🧶
I fell in love with this stitch and started making blanket right away. I'm using Premier Puzzle yarn which changes colors, but very softly and the stitches really show. The colors go from a very pale mint green to soft grey mixed with white. Thank you! I love listening to you and watching your videos. You are very easy to follow and I am learning!
I'm glad you're enjoying this pattern! That yarn sounds so pretty and I'm sure it's working up just nicely. Thank you for the kind words :)
THANK YOU so much. I've been trying to do this pattern from another tutorial and I just couldn't get it right. Your explanation was so clear, now I know what I was doing wrong. Thank you!
You’re very welcome 😊😊
I enjoy your tutorials. You do a great job. I'm currently in my charity crochet baby blanket phase. Thank you.
You're welcome! I love making baby blankets, so you'll have plenty of options to choose from while visiting my channel :)
This is a lovely pattern, thank you! ❤
You’re welcome 😊
Thank you for an excellent tutorial. The blanket is beautiful!. I have never crocheted a blanket before but have wanted to for years. Can't wait to do this one for my new house.
You're very welcome! I wish you the best of luck and hope you enjoy the process just as much as I did. You will love it!
Seems like there are two crochet moss stitches on the net. The other one uses single crochets and chains. I really love this one.
Yes, there are different variations of the same stitches. Some even have the same names, so it can be a little confusing at times. Glad you like this one :)
Thank you. I’ve seen it done with a single and then chain. I love yours much better. It’s so pretty. Now I have to figure out what color or colors to use. And I’m making it just for me well and my cat. Thank you for the great video.
You’re welcome 😊 I’m sure your cat will enjoy the blanket as well 🐱🧶
Thank you for sharing this beautiful crochet stitch tutorial ! 😊💗
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed!
Very pretty blanket. I love this stitch and your border is beautiful. Thank you for explaining so clearly. 🌸

Gorgeous!! And you are a fabulous instructor.. thank you so much!
Aw, thank you so much!
Thank you for sharing this beautiful crochet stitch tutorial. ! 😊💗
You’re welcome 😊🧶
Excellent tutorial. Beautiful blanket and border. Your camera work is excellent too showing us close ups of what you're doing. Your voice too so easy on the ears. Love that herringbone half DC round the blanket. Nice surprise just before bed. Thank ye. Hooked on your videos now from I found ye.
Love from Ireland
Ann Marie Murphy thanks for watching! I’m glad you enjoyed and hope you give it a try 😊
@@AmandaCrochets Indeed I have it started. Using same hook as you but Alize wool I got in Turkey last year. Half way through I am.
Can't wait till I get trying that border.
Love from Ireland x
this is a great tutorial I cant wait to try and make a blanket
I hope you enjoy!
Very beautiful will make this blanket. I love the stitches in it. 😍😍😍
Thank you! I really liked how this one came out :)
This is beautiful! Thank you!
Cheryl Anne ES thanks for watching!
I like how at 6:57 you were talking about how sometimes you get distracted and to just slow down and while you were saying that, you missed alternating the correct stitch lol (it was supposed to be a slip stitch but you accidentally made a double)😉 Still...gorgeous work and thank you for showing/sharing!
lol good catch! I guess I can't talk and crochet at the same time.
@@AmandaCrochets It's still beautiful and you're an excellent tutor/appreciated! ❤️
Thanks!
@@AmandaCrochets It was an adorable mistake 😉 I'm using your tutorial/this stitch to attempt my very first blanket. If I have any questions, is it ok to ask you here? Thanks Amanda! 🙃
You can ask here or email me at amandacrochets@yahoo.com.
Thank you I'm a beginner and hope to do this 🙏🏻
You got this!
Beautiful and easy ❤
Thank you! 😊
Great easy to follow tutorial. I used this tutorial to make a heavily textured large blanket using a super bulky yarn (Wool Ease Thick and Quick ) and size 9 MM crochet hook.
Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it! Sounds like that would be a wonderful, cozy blanket for the colder months :) :)
Very similar to your petals blank which I am just finishing. Very nice
Thank you!
So pretty 💗
Thank you!! 😊
Beautiful, Amanda! It will be my next project. Thank you so much!
You are so welcome!
Beautiful n easy. Thx
You're welcome! Enjoy!
It's beautiful very nice 👌 ❤
Thanks a lot 😊
Nice and beautiful
Thank you!
Very beautiful 😍 stitch
Thanks for watching!
I know you recommend a solid yarn, but may I suggest Premier Puzzle yarn? Its a size 5 but not super big and the color Cats Cradle with soft grey pink and peach..!!!!!!. I came across your video after making my throw, and thought I would recommend this beautiful yarn. The stitch definition and subtle color changes were amazing!!!!! Perfect combo for anyone not wanting a solid color. Your Herringbone stitch border is perfect. I will be using on my next one. Ive used a 6.5 and 7mm with this yarn and stitch.
That’s a great yarn suggestion! I haven’t seen that yarn too often in my stores, but I’ll have to be on the lookout for it. Thanks for suggesting it! 😊
@@AmandaCrochets I m making a 42 inch wide blanket then I will do a border. But with a size 8mm, and 110 st my color changes by some dumb luck end and start exactly at the right place. I got mine at walmart.
@@myleerose31866 That's great luck! I'll have to check my Walmart next time I go. Unfortunately their yarn section leaves a lot to be desired. Thanks for sharing!
@@AmandaCrochets I understand that, we have 3/4 of an isle...lol
This is so pretty and easy! But it looks different from other miss stitches? (Single crochet chain one?) I like this one better :-)
I’ve found a few varieties to the moss stitch, but I like this version as well 😊
Amanda...cant wait to try it. So there is a moss stitch I saw using all single crochets and sl stitches. Yours is with half double and slip stitches. Just a variation of moss stitch?
Yes, there are different variations/names for different crochet stitches. I hope you enjoy this nonetheless 😊
I love how you’re talking about getting distracted at 6:57 and accidentally do a SC instead of a slip stitch 😂
Lol it happens!
I think I was hearing your cat purring. Am I right? If so that is so cool!
Oh I’m sure you could. She’s my buddy when filming tutorials.
Have you ever made this moss stitch in Barnet Baby blanket yarn? That is what I’m doing and I’ve never made a blanket before so I don’t know if it looks correct
I haven’t, but I bet it would be very soft and squishy! I would probably use a size N/P hook if using bernat blanket yarn.
pretty and i'd like to make it but What is the weight of the skeins so I can substitute?
This is a worsted weight #4 yarn 😊
Hi Amanda! Thank you so much for this amazing tutorial. I’ve been following this pattern the past few months and am just about finished with a baby blanket I’m gifting for the holidays! Quick question on the border, if I wanted to bring the border out further could I just do additional rows with the herringbone HDC and continue with 3 in each corner or would I have to increase the number of stitches at all? Very much appreciate this tutorial and can’t wait to weave in my ends and finish this up!
Hi Annalisa! I'm so glad you're enjoying this pattern. I'm sure the recipient will adore your blanket! For the border, yes, you will continue doing the same thing for each additional row. As long as you have the 3 stitches in the corner you should be good to go :)
How would I do this for a queen size????
To make this into a queen sized blanket, you will need to make sure you have an odd number of chains. This can vary from person to person depending on gauge. I would try for 405 chains and lay it over your bed to see if that fits the size you need. Otherwise you may need to add more or less chains. Hope that helps!
Hi Amanda, I love this stitch and I am thinking of making a blanket for my grandchild . I am new with crochet, so would you please let me know with the size 30x31, how many ch should I start?
Hi Kim, I started with 101 chains (or any odd number). Thanks!
@@AmandaCrochets thank you so much ❤️
@@KimNguyen-rm3lo you’re welcome!
Thank you for sharing this pattern...how many stitches should I make to make a single blanket size?
You’re welcome! To change the sizing, you will need any odd number of chains. You can always lay it over the bed to see if this is wide enough. Maybe try a chain of 153 and see if that works.
Did I miss something??? You didn't show how to end the last row. I rewatched the video for the trim twice just to be sure. I figured it out ok but I'm not a beginner. Nice blaster and thanks 😊
Thanks, glad you enjoyed!
It looks simple enough for me to try it .... But I'm literally scared to do it
You got this!
Could you please give the stitch count. (I.e even odd or 3 or 4)
Hi, yes I mention the multiple in the beginning of the video. Thanks!
Do you use a no.4 yarn for that blanket ? Thx
Yes this is a #4 worsted weight yarn 🧶
@@AmandaCrochets thank you again 🙋♀️
Hi, Im doing a small lap blanket in Malabrigo Rios its a 10 Ply #4 yarn but knits up in either Lt Worsted or Worsted depending on needle size. Malabrigo state Knit Gauge: 18.0 to 22.0 sts = 4 inches Needle Size: 4 - 5mm and Hook Size: 5.5-6.5 mm. Ive seen some examples using #3 Yarn and a size 6mm hook to get nice drape with the Moss stitch, (not the one you use here the other one) i.e.not too tight, but not loose either.. So with the Malabrigo Rios should I go up to a size 7mm hook?
Hello! Yes you could try going up a hook size and use a 7mm hook to see if you like it. You can always practice with a small swatch first to see if you like the look of your project before committing to a bigger project. Hope that helps!
@@AmandaCrochets Thanks the Rios has 4 plies twisted the Washted is a single ply yarn. Both are 100% merino and gentle machine washable. What differences do you get between a single ply and a multiply yarn when crocheting?
Probably just the thickness and overall feel of the yarn. Some yarns tend to split if they’re not twisted tightly.
How much yarn did you used to make this blanket?? Thank you!
I used 4 skeins of red heart soft yarn
@@AmandaCrochets I'm sorry I'm a beginner. All of the Red Hearts soft yarn have the same yard amount? Is that I'm buying online I'll like to buy all I need on the order I'm doing. Thanks for replying!
No problem! All solid colors of red heart soft should have the same yardage. If you buy a multi print, it will have less yardage.
@@AmandaCrochets alright, thanks!!
@6:55 to 7:01 i think the slip stitch is wrong ?
whoops! I didn't notice I did a single crochet instead. Sorry about that!
@@AmandaCrochets ha haa, i watched ur videos over n over again, thanks for the tips🤗🤗
I'm not sure this is the moss stitch. I watched 3 other tutorials for the moss stitch and it was a single crochet and chain 1 alternating and doesn't look like your moss stitch.
The moss stitch, like many other crochet stitches, are similar in name and technique. This is a variation of the moss stitch. I’ve seen it a lot around RUclips. For example, the moss stitch can also be called the granite stitch or the suzette stitch can also be called the thicket stitch.
What happens if I end on a slip stitch in a row do I still do a slip stitch in the first chain of the next row or do I alternate and do a half double crochet to start the next row?
You should always start your row with a slip stitch and end your row with a half double crochet. I would double check to make sure you have an odd number of chains and that you’re alternating the stitches to achieve the desired textured look of the pattern,
It's not the miss stitch, it's the crunch stitch
I've noticed a lot of crochet stitches go by multiple names. It's possible this stitch is also referred to the crunch stitch :)
