      That's so amusing and a bit confusing. I can't say any of them are wrong about waiting. Let's face it though, you have to take the plunge at some point. If you're serious about getting a Samsung foldable now, I would highly recommend picking up a renewed Z-Fold 5 from Amazon or eBay. You can snag one for under $1,000 with 512GB of storage, and they typically come with a 1-year warranty from the seller. This gets you in the door for less than $1,000, and the Z-Fold 5 will likely trade in for at least that much next year. It sets you up in the trade-in cycle so you won't have to pay full price for the new phone when it drops. Personally, I hate paying full price. I'd love to hear back from you if you decide to go for it or not-no judgment here. Thanks for tuning in and commenting. Your support means a lot! 👍👍

      It’s because they’re sandbagging the specs. It’s lame and that’s why I refuse to get one. I want a maxed out device, regardless of price.

      That would be the Samsung S24 Ultra. In the foldable world right now, it's the OnePlus Open in my opinion. The Samsung and Pixel foldables are mid-grade when it comes to hardware.

      You’re absolutely right. Since I haven't reviewed the flip phones, they’re not top of mind for me. I’ll need to do another video to supplement the last one and dive deeper into those devices. The Flip 6 definitely seems to have upgrades that justify an upgrade, but I'm not sure about that $100 price increase. Are they offering more trade-in value for the Flip 5 this year? It seems like they’re giving more for the Fold 5 than they have for previous models. Thanks for calling me out on that-I appreciate your honesty and support! 👍👍

    well, the outer screen looks much better for me in person. i think samsung have done a great job to refine it this time, and I hope that they stick with this design. For me, this one is truly the best of both worlds for me for the foldable display size. but yeah, all the rest are just the same phone as fold 4. If you got fold 5, it's not worth upgrading at all periods.

      @GOTgoodoldtech-1964  Месяц назад +2

      I agree! The squared-off look really gives it that premium feel, just like the S24 Ultra. It's a shame they didn't carry that design through the whole device. You're right, besides the chipset, there's not much difference from the Z4. Thanks a lot for your comment and support!

      @@GOTgoodoldtech-1964 the biggest difference is the new flat hinge, much less weight, you can really feel the new class of the device, a year ago I replaced the zf4 with the zf5 practically for free, this year samsung did not give any good promotions, it's an embarrassment, eg. the fold5 is much cheaper than the fold4 a year ago despite inflation in re-buy. new graphic tricks are probably aimed at small children, draw a kitten on the bench...

      Hi All, seen it at the store, the screen brightness is night and day better than my fold 5, the new screen and feel of the phone make it more phone worthy and premium, as well as being lighter and the better processor and potential better battery make it a sound upgrade EVEN from a fold 5

      I completely agree with you-that's a great deal with the $1,200 trade-in value and the free upgrade to 512GB of storage. I'm not taking it myself because I pay out of pocket for all these phones to review, and spending an additional $700 on a phone that's too similar to the Z-Fold 5 doesn’t make sense for me. It’s definitely a personal decision. I'm glad to see you’re excited about it, and I hope it works out great for you. Thank you for tuning into the channel-I appreciate your comment and support!👍👍

      You're absolutely right! The phone is still fantastic, but the changes just aren't enough for me to justify an upgrade. As for the A.I. features, I’m not entirely convinced they’re anything more than a marketing tactic. It seems like these "exclusive" features could easily be rolled out to older devices through software updates. I wouldn't be surprised if we see these new A.I. features on the Z Fold 5 and S24 series once the hype starts to die down. Thanks so much for tuning in and sharing your thoughts-I really appreciate your support!👍👍

    I feel the promotional pricing when you trade-in and bundling is very aggressive for the 6. Heck, I was able to trade in an original Galaxy S for $480CAD, get 50% off the buds, 50% watch 7 ultra + additional $100, $200 off MSRP, and $600 off in bill credits by my cell provider. If one is considering a Fold5 instead, if interested in getting the watch or buds, you'll probably do better bundling with the Fold6, even without a plan activation.

      Hey there! Sounds like you scored some awesome deals! You're absolutely right - trading in and bundling can be a total game-changer for your wallet. I snagged the Watch Ultra and Buds 3 combo myself and ended up saving a ton! Crazy enough, they gave me $350 for my old Watch 6 - that's what I originally paid for it! With all the promotions, I got the Ultra for just $279 and the Buds Pro 3 for $79.
      Like I said, it really depends on what you can trade in, so everyone’s savings will be different.

    I upgraded from the fold 5 and dont regret a thing. People need to realize other foldable brands make phones that open into a tablet, samsung makes a tablet that folds into a usable phone. Once you understand that distinction youll understand the form factor.
    1. The crease is greatly improved even from the 5. You can barely feel it unless you press hard or go looking for it.
    2. The hinge is superb. Even on the 5 it felt like the hinge was part of the front screen, noticeable and in the way. The 6 really reduced the hinge to the point you forget its there.
    3. The front screen might only seem like a minor improvememt on paper in terms of size but its worlds apart and feels much bigger in person. Best of both worlds in terms of form factor and usability.
    4. The phone is so much lighter than the specs reveal. The weight distribution is superb and it feels great in the hand
    5. The phone is so much cooler compared to the 5. Im currently caseless and its cooler to the touch then when i had a case on my 5. I use the phone intensively and its so much more comfortable even if it still does get warm, its not uncomfortably hot.
    6. It just all around feels more polished and no longer like a prototype as the older interations felt like. It truly feels like a normal slab phone when closed, and the square edges really are chefs kiss. The screens are bright and crisp.
    7. I got my fold for under 500 based on trade-ins promos and cash back. No other phone manufacturer offers this level of discount on a flagship day 1 and samsung has done it for years. People keep focusing on sticker price and not out the door price. Samsung is by far the cheapest best quality foldable you will get at launch if you live in countries where they offer aggressive deals.
    It's definitely a worthy upgrade. If you get a good deal, go for it.

      Great insight! Thanks for sharing your thoughts. It's always exciting when a great deal comes together. Last year, I faced a similar choice and decided to upgrade from the Z4 to the Z5. At the time, it was between that and the Pixel Fold, but the Pixel's first-gen status, older chip, and two-year-old cameras made the decision easy. This year, though, the Pixel Fold has really stepped up with a design that's closer to the Z Fold and OnePlus Open.
      I totally get the comfort and loyalty to Samsung if you haven't tried another foldable. Honestly, once I started using the OnePlus Open, I realized there was more innovation out there than I initially thought with the Z Fold. I truly appreciate and respect your perspective. It's great to have you in the community and hear your insights. Thanks for being a part of the conversation!👍👍

    Those that like upgrades, however incremental, do appreciate the Fold 6. I too would like to see a larger upgrade. But I don't ever take pictures. The fold 5 camera is more than adequate. I bought the fold for its' tablet form. And this one seems to be much better, with an improved front screen.
    I'm all in. Glass half full is a full glass to me.
    As long as they continue to make meaningful improvements, I'll continue to upgrade.
    NOW. If they only upgraded the camera. And let's say they made it the best camera in existence, then I would not upgrade. That is not important to me, and I would gander a guess it is not important to most who purchase such a device.

    I tried the fold 6 and compared it to my fold 4 at best buy. I ordered the fold 6 later that day. My new fold 6 arrives tomorrow. For the record, even though the front screen isnt much bigger it sure feels bigger. Texting on the front screen of my fold 4 is a pain but the fold 6 felt better because the screen is bigger and the bezels are much smaller. If you have a fold 5 I would wait until next year and see what samsung does with the fold 7. I only upgraded because I got $1200 for my old phone. My bill actually went down. Good luck.

    I have a S20 Ultra. I can't decide between the Z Fold 6 and 24 Ultra. I had the Z Fold 3 and I ended up damaging the hinge by accident and also stupidly removed the inner film because it began bubbling and I didn't know Samsung replaced them. I found the Z Fold 3 to be really delicate and it made me nervous to get another one. I honestly see no huge improvements from 3 to 6. The ultra on the other hand has bigger battery, and better cameras. But the foldable phone is a beauty and the cameras and battery are good enoough. I liked using the s pen, getting things done and even watching content, playing games on a bigger screent.
    Its either Z Fold 5 right now, or wait until S25 Ultra for me...

    • @GOTgoodoldtech-1964
      @GOTgoodoldtech-1964  17 дней назад +1

      I totally get your worry about the Z Fold 3 being fragile after your experience. I know that can be a real bummer. I've used both the Fold 4 and 5, and honestly, they feel pretty sturdy. The 5 is even a bit tougher than the 4, in my opinion.
      You can't go wrong with the Fold 5, but try to snag a good deal - under $1000 would be awesome! Check out refurbished options on eBay or Amazon. Just make sure it comes with a warranty for peace of mind.
      I know you're coming from the top-tier with the s20 Ultra and being used to the S-Pen, so it's tough to downgrade to anything without it. But let me tell you, the difference between the Fold 5 and 6 isn't huge. Unless you can get a killer trade-in for the 6, the 5 is probably your best bet to save some cash.

    Some very sarcastic review. I'm 62 years old and have been using nothing but Macbook, iPads and iPhones all my life but I'm switching for Fold 6. I buy the newest and and best devices at the time of sale and use them till they breakdown or I need a new one. Now their use stretches out even further because I can exchange batteries on Apple devices. I carry a iPhone and mini-iPad together many times because I need both for work. I don't know if an android will be able to carry out work that I need, but for first time in my life I'm switching early to Fold 6s and have ordered 2 for my wife and I.
    The reason I didn't buy Fold 5 was because of weight, thickness of the phone, creases and just chunkiness! Although crease still seems to be there, for a simple guy like me, other deficiencies have gotten much~much better. From remarks below, It seems like some of your guests feel the same way. I agree that that Fold 7 will probably have improvements, but I'm still excited to get my new phones which have been shipped. Especially since I've gotten $1,100 trade in credits (phones in any condition) for both phones.

    • @GOTgoodoldtech-1964
      @GOTgoodoldtech-1964  26 дней назад

      I totally understand why you noticed some sarcasm in my review. Fun fact: I actually worked for Apple for several years during the development of the iPhone 4 through 11, so I know the ins and outs of Apple products really well. I switched to Android for ethical reasons and decided to leave Apple. Meanwhile, my wife still loves her iPhone and iPad Mini. For me, I wanted more freedom with my devices.
      That said, if you approach your new Z Fold 6 with an open mind and give yourself time to adjust, you'll really enjoy it. Since it's all new to you, the excitement will give you that fresh, new feel. I had all the Z Folds but the 1st one. From 2 to 3 you got water resistance. From 3 to 4 you got better cameras. From 4 to 5 you got better design and better endurance. From 5 to 6 you will get a better design and a hair wider. So basically every year you're buying a Z Fold 2 just a slightly better design. Knowing that I still upgraded because the deals are at an All-Time High. $1200 off plus $230 off Watch Ultra and $80 off Buds Pro 3 is a excellent deal. For newer tech I traded my Z Fold 5 in. Which gave it $1200 off the Z Fold 6. That means you pay $500 for 256 gb , I paid $600 for 512 gb, and if I wanted 1 terabytes it would've been $700 for the phone. Not bad at all. I went with 512 gb because I never use more than 200 to 300 gb of storage. And if I did I would do a trade in before It gets closer to 420 gb

      I totally get where you're coming from and agree with your strategy. When I used to buy Apple devices, I upgraded every year too. Like you mentioned, trading in at the right time can get you the best deal. So, if you can afford it and enjoy having the latest tech, there's nothing wrong with upgrading yearly. Staying current with tech is always exciting, and this year is no different.
      In my videos, I try to highlight things that might not be obvious to those who don't upgrade every year. I usually don't buy the top-of-the-line watches, but this year, I decided to trade in my Watch Series 6 for the Ultra. They offered me a $350 trade-in, which was actually more than what I paid originally thanks to a great deal I got back then.
      As long as you're purposeful and deliberate about understanding your savings, it can be a really smart move. Thanks for sharing your perspective and story. I appreciate you watching the video and your support!👍👍

    What about upgrading from S22 Ultra to Z Fold 6? Should I do it?

    • @GOTgoodoldtech-1964
      @GOTgoodoldtech-1964  Месяц назад +2

      That's a tough one. Samsung is offering a $650 trade-in for the S22 Ultra in the US, but you'd still be paying over $1200 for a foldable. You might get some of that back in trade next year when Samsung releases the phone they should have released this year, assuming you trade again. Over two years, you'd end up paying nearly full price for the Z7. If this is your first foldable, you could get the Z5 512GB model renewed on Amazon for under $1000, or possibly find a better deal on eBay, both with a one-year warranty. You could trade in your S22 Ultra for a smaller value or just keep it. In the grand scheme of things, you'd be ahead next year. Or, you could wait and see what Google offers with the Fold 2 next month. Just do the math and decide what works best for you. Let me know what you decide-no judgment here. Good luck, my friend, and thanks for tuning in and commenting. I appreciate your support! 👍

      Yep, it's been one letdown after another with the Z-Fold 6. While there have been promises of improvements and better battery management from the Z-Fold 3 to the 6, my breaking point was the cameras staying the same for four generations. Sure, there's some updated processing power, but essentially, it's the same old cameras. It may be time to consider the Pixel Fold 2! For now I'm enjoying the OnePlus Open. I completely understand your perspective and welcome it to the community. In the world of phones, there are so many different types of users with various priorities. For some, it's the camera; for others, it's the processor or a large screen. When a company doesn't upgrade their cameras for three years, it's natural for those who value camera performance to speak up.
      If you watch more of my videos, you'll see that I do like Samsung phones and believe they have the best UI on Android. However, when any manufacturer becomes stagnant in an area, people will voice their opinions. Personally, I hate paying full price for any phone, so I always look for ways around it. When upgrading doesn't make sense, I just skip a generation.

    • @GOTgoodoldtech-1964
      @GOTgoodoldtech-1964  Месяц назад +2

      That's a great question, and it really comes down to personal preference. The challenge is that different manufacturers prioritize different features-some have 5x zoom cameras, others have 10x, and photo processing quality varies a lot. There are so many factors that determine how great a photo can be. Right now, Samsung is kind of in the middle and doesn’t rank as high as the iPhone or Pixel phones for photo processing. To compete, they really need to use better cameras, like they do with the S24 Ultra, which is their only phone that can truly compete with other top manufacturers. But again, it’s all about what you prefer. There are many "pixel peepers" out there always looking for the best options.

    What a crock of Sh!t. I still have my Z Fold 3 and as far as I can tell there is no reason for me to get this. When are they going to make the folding screen and front screen bigger. Both of them at the moment are too bloody small. The folding screen is too small for tablet stuff, and the front screen is too small for phone stuff. UPDATE: I went to the Samsung Experience store to see first hand how the Fold 6 is. I have had a Note 20 Ultra, a 23U and now a 24U. I am a S Pen lover but I have had phones without a stylus and could survive.
    In the past when trying folds they were awful clunky bricks to me and that front screen was too narrow to be useable by me. Disliked no S Pen onboard tho case is ok and did not like the front screen not being S Pen compatible.
    The new phones are much better feeling.
    Even with the security block on it, it felt slimmer and nice in hand. The squared off look was nice like my 24U.
    Front screen was wider and I could live with it. A bit cramped but it was ok. I still would prefer S Pen functionality on front screen, especially since it is narrow
    Colors ( a personal choice for sure ) - I liked the blue and silver. The pink was too pale and the black carbon felt like shiny plastic. Had it been matte, I think it would have been nicer. The crease was absolutely better but I am still not a lover of that. I would imagine that overtime one would see it less as damper wires on an older monitor. That said I always saw them ;=)
    So, in summary - Go see them in person if you can - if I was willing to pay 800+ with a trade-in, I think I could enjoy it. But That is too expensive. Maybe next year or maybe I will win their sweepstakes ;=)

      Thank you for sharing your hands-on experience! I had no doubt it felt premium and lightweight. The OpenPlus Open (OP) weighs the same as the F6, and its thinner design definitely feels better in the hand. I completely agree that the S-Pen should work on both screens-why that hasn’t been achieved yet is beyond me, unless it's a cost issue.
      The newer slim hinge on the OP makes the screen dip less noticeable, which is a nice touch. I agree with you, while the F6 is a great foldable, it's not enough of an upgrade from the F5 for me, especially with the added cost. I’m looking for more improvements.

With all the bonuses and discounts final price for the Fold 6 would be 932 euros (equal to 1.000 us) for the 512gb config plus 1 year of free Samsung Care+. I've been using my fold 4 for 2 years and half, and i already had a display and audio issue. Luckily it was under warranty and they replaced the entire display. I'm worried another failure in the display or hinge could occur especially now that the warranty expired. I've read that the zfold 4 hinge is the weakest point. I might be able to wait another year for the Fold 7 but then i worry that the trade in value for the Fold 4 will be even lower. What do you think? Thanks!

      Samsung is offering a generous trade-in value for the F3, which is more than it's worth-making it hard to pass up. It would be a great upgrade to the F6. However, next year, the F7 will likely be the phone we all wanted this year, and the F3 will be worth a lot less by then. Unfortunately, one just has to do the math and see if it makes sense. The F6 will have a pretty good trade-in value, and over the two years, you'll end up paying full price for the F7 if you get my drift. At least the cost will be spread out over the two years. Tough decision, but either way it will be a great phone and better than what you have now. Good luck my friend and thank you for sharing your question. 👍👍

      If they make tech leap on the next generation, it's going to be more expensive and not require the aggressive marketing promotions that we're seeing now with the 6. They know it's just a slightly better Fold 5, and priced it as such. Value wise, you'll probably do well switching now. Worst case scenario, if by chance they offer similar or better deals with the 7 or later, you'll get the top trade in value for the 6 where as the 3 will only continue to depreciate.

      @juanhusingz thanks. Yeah that is what I thought and decided to make the switch now. This year the trade in offer for the fold 4 is quite good. Next year i think it will be lower. And the 6 will have a much better trade in value.

    This fold 6 is so badly needed to replace half baked fold 5 and worst siblings before that. This fold 6 is the beginning of the everything

    I've been trying to work out the math for the past few hours and looking at my Z-fold five this is a tough year. Last year was tough too, but when I physically got a hand on the device and I waited a little longer, I got a really decent deal to upgrade my Z-fold 4 to the 5 and was able to even upgrade to the one terabyte version fairly inexpensive. I'm waiting to upgrade to the next device only if the cameras improve, and the stylist can write on the front screen... I did get some galaxy buds pro threes though...... are you planning on upgrading to the Z fold6? Also, thank you for the video.

      Absolutely, the cost of a foldable can get pretty high. I upgraded from the Z4 to the Z5, and like you, I don't think the Z6 is worth it due to the lack of camera improvements. I also believe the S-Pen should work on both screens.
      I'm considering the Buds3 Pro since my Buds2 Pro are losing their charge. I've been trying to justify getting the Z6, but I just can't. Even with $1200 for the Z5, it's still another $700 for essentially the same thing. I'm going to pass on it.

There are no bad cameras in this day in age compared to old school cameras growing up. Not sure what people want in a camera. Its still a slightly ever improved version of the fold 5 yet with going to i48 water and dust protection, lighter and thinner, and 7 yrs of promised upgrades now on zfold6. I agree with you definitely not worth the upgrade from a zfold 4 stand point. Absolutely, the big screen is a major attraction for foldables. I actually record my videos on different smartphones, depending on which ones are featured in the video. Samsung devices, including the Z Fold 5, perform really well in a controlled environment on a tripod. However, since processing on phones is slow, I usually do that on a PC unless I’m traveling.
      If you do any long-distance zoom shots in your filming, stick with the S23 Ultra. The standard 50-megapixel cameras and lower 10-megapixel zoom lenses on the Z Fold 6 won’t give you great results for those shots. Other than that, the Z Fold 6 is a fantastic phone for filming and processing, especially with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, which will be a bit faster than the S23 Ultra.

Trading in your S22 Ultra for the Z Fold 6 would definitely be an all-around upgrade. However, you will lose the 10x zoom on the Ultra and drop down to a 3x zoom. I really like the form factor of the foldable and was hoping the 6 would have the upgrades the 5 lacked but I just cant justify paying that premium price and not getting their top of the line camera. That, plus the Spen not being integrated in the body of the phone are deal breakers. I could live with the 4400ma battery if the processor is using it more efficiently and I could even stand the only slightly wider outer screen and the fingerprint sensor on the side (instead of on the screen like the S24) but I just cant get past the camera and having to pay another $80 for the pen.

      Now that’s what I call dedication to a product! Upgrading to the Z Fold 6 would be a massive leap forward. Are they offering much trade-in value for your current phone where you are? Even a small trade-in is better than nothing, especially with the promotions going on and the instant upgrade to 512 GB of storage - it’s hard to pass up that deal.
      However, upgrading to the Z Fold 5 is also a significant step up. Since I’m a fan of half-price deals, I think you’d get the best value by going for the Z Fold 5. You can find renewed ones on Amazon or eBay for under $1,000. That said, if your carrier offers a great promotional deal on the Z Fold 6, I totally understand going for that.
      Either way, upgrading from the Z Fold 2 is a fantastic move. Thanks for tuning into the channel and sharing your comment. Your support is much appreciated! Good luck with your decision, and I’d love to hear what you decide - no judgment here. 👍👍

      Trade in value for the S24 Ultra, especially if you have the 1TB version, is too low! And with the Flip, they really insult us! Used to be able to get a Flip with trade for under $100. Not this time.
      They raised the price of the Fold 6, still has 12GB RAM, no titanium frame. Should be called Fold 5S LOL.

    • @GOTgoodoldtech-1964
      @GOTgoodoldtech-1964  Месяц назад +2

      Great point! Samsung is offering a generous $1200 trade-in value for the F5 in the US, making it tough to pass up. Upgrading to the F6 would be a small step up. However, next year, the F7 will likely be the phone we all wanted this year, and the F5 will be worth less by then. You just have to crunch the numbers and see if it makes sense for you. The F5 will have a solid trade-in value, and over two years, you'll end up paying full price for the F7 when considering the trade-ins for the F6. Good luck with your decision! 👍

I think in a couple of years Samsung will be wiped out no one will be interested on their phones anymore. With shared technology from Apple, the Z Fold 7 could turn out to be a fantastic device.I don't believe Samsung will be left behind in the foldables market; they just have some ground to cover. Would you trade up your s24 ultra for the zfold 6. Even though
    1. No place for stylist
    2. Not as good camera as s24
    3. Still slight crease
    All for the larger screen functionality. Sometimes i get frustrated with the trying to do split screen on s24 Ultra. It is a tank too. (Love my Note10, in terms of weight, hand holding, stylist inside, already has 12GB Ram). Just want the larger screen for multi tasking.😮
    The s24 Ultra camera is crazy. Was videoing a graduation. Was half a football field away. Could see my nephew's acne in his face. Flying over a university football field not quiet 10k feet. But I got the school sign on the grass.
    Do i need that crazy of camera vs that flat screen to multi task?

    • @GOTgoodoldtech-1964
      @GOTgoodoldtech-1964  Месяц назад +1

      There's a lot to unpack in your question. I won't argue that the S24 Ultra is a great phone; it might even be the best phone of the year. As a former Note user, I love the built-in S Pen silo. For the Z Fold 5, I've found that the special case that holds the S Pen is the best alternative, and it works well for me.
      Regarding the camera, I have to say the Z Fold series is lagging a bit, having used the same cameras for four years in a row. AI digital enhancement isn't quite there yet either. I have the Pixel 8 Pro, which promised digital enhancement on zooming photos, but it hasn’t delivered yet. I truly believe Google Pixel handles that the best among all phones.
      If you need great distant shots and a zoom lens, the S24 Ultra is the way to go. On the other hand, if you plan on trading your S24, you'll still end up paying nearly $1,000 to upgrade to the Z Fold 6. If you've never had a foldable before, I'd recommend using that $1,000 to buy a renewed Z Fold 5 from Amazon or eBay. They come with a 1-year warranty and are almost like new. This way, you can keep your S24 as a backup in case you decide the foldable isn't for you.
      I hope this helps! Feel free to ask any more questions you have. Thank you for tuning into the channel and for leaving your comment-I appreciate your support!👍👍

      @GOTgoodoldtech-1964 you're most welcome. I have the S24 ultra. I will go to the samsung experience store and take a look at it. But the last version I was turned off by the narrow front screen, and the phone felt very chunky.
