The funny thing is that only 40% of this movie is in the unreleased director's cut. And that 40% happens in a very different context. Basically no neon filter, no unnecessary pop song trying to mimic Guardians of the Galaxy's tone, a different 3rd act, Harley and Joker's relationship is more violent and abusive, Leto has some really good and funny Joker scenes (like the one where dr Van Criss tells Joker that if he deactivates Harley's neck-bomb, the other Squad members could die and Joker looks at him shocked and makes him feel stupid cause he thought that the fucking Joker cared about the Squad dying), Harley and Deadshot have a romance subplot, basically Harley becomes the heart of the movie and not just one of the main characters, the whole movie was edited by The Dark Knight's editor and not by a trailer company and Diablo the fucking fire god didn't die because of a bomb . Let's hope WB releases Ayer's Cut cause there's a good chance that it would be really good and apparently the scene in this movie that mostly reflects Ayer's cut is the bar scene before the final battle.

Love that you enjoyed the Diablo character! I feel like I never hear anyone really talk about him, his flashbacks and story were so good. Harley Quinn and Diablo just made me fee something, him talking about his family and Harley when she’s on top of that car and has that vulnerable moment as the team is headed towards her.

@@TheGorignak They did. Think Justice League 2017 but more self contained. Justice League was supposed to shape the future of the DCEU with a solo Flash movie, Green Lantern Corps movie, Cyborg solo movie, the original Ben Affleck Batman project, etc. I don’t think Suicide Squad was supposed to be on that type of scale, but they basically did the same thing to this movie that they did to Justice League.
Unfortunately, there was so much studio interference with this. David Ayer, the director, actually has has cut still that’s never been released. There’s no studio mandated reshoots for a lighter tone, longer with better editing (the editor who did the dark knight), more backstory for Joker (and others characters), and not a single popular song is used in his cut. It’s all original score by Steven Price. I hope one day, whether it’s good or bad, we’ll all be able to see it. The entire finale battle was different to. I still feel bad watching this because I love the cast and I think they all got screwed over by WB.

If you’ve seen Fury you’ve got an idea of what kind of filmmaker David Ayer is, and possibly what kind of film Suicide Squad could’ve been. Because I agree that it had great moments, but was bogged down with exposition and shlock. Also while his Joker isn’t the best looking, I feel Jared Leto didn’t really get the chance to do anything with the character. That goes for a lot of the characters actually. Man, I was so disappointed in this movie and watching this video reminded me why. Looking forward to what you think of the 2021 Suicide Squad!
You should definitely check out Birds of Prey next before going into The Suicide Squad. It takes place in between the two movies and gives insight into Harley's character change.

I really liked this movie, my only gripe about this movie is that it was way too short and they should have made it 2 hours longer. They should have had more scenes with the Joker and Harley Quinn. Other than that I love this movie. In my opinion, I love Jared Leto as the Joker and I'd have to say he is one of my favorite actors to have played the Joker. Jim Carrey didn't cast Joker, he was playing The Riddler but people are missinterpret him ;-) Anything else on point and many people recognize problems with editing and pacing. This movie was three time reedited and after first critics watching more cuted to be more like trailer (which was done by external company not having all material of final movie). So at the end we are lucky Suicide Squad if in this shape :-D
I've actually never hated Jared Leto's Joker, I've always seen it as a continuation of Jack Nicholson's gangster Joker in modern times. I have to ask people could you see any other form of Joker (live action) having a relationship and love for Harley? The answer is no, so as bad as some people think he is I think its a good fit for the story beats they were going for. Will I always prefer Heath Ledger's version? Yes. But lets be fair guys, he's pretty far away from the comic character of Joker.
"I'm known to be quite vexing, I'm just forewarning you." This movie has some good parts aside from Margot Robbie, but nowhere near enough. And, yes, Leto's Joker comes across as just "performing crazy" next to Harley (the only scene of his that I like is the one with Griggs, which she's not in). I'm looking to seeing your reactions to Birds of Prey and TSS (spoiler alert: they're much better). Ah, and I see somebody recommended the Doom Patrol TV series. Yes, yes, yes!
Nah. Not every movie deserves a director's cut. Justice league sets a bad precedent, a shit movie given a deluxe treatment to become....a LONG shit movie
Hey Brandon love your content! I was wondering what happened to the youtube reactions of Ozark I saw the first 3 on patreon but I dont think there were any more posted.
My man with the fire hat. Your hat game is always on point. To me this was a good one, not the best but good nonetheless. Biggest mistake imo and acknowledged by the director himself was not making The Joker the main villain. Letos Joker was out there and different but would have shined if given proper screen time. It has it moments and characters that I like. The second has way more comedy. Would love for you to check out the Zack Snyder cut of Justice League. And as always keep up the great work and stay safe.
It's the bar scene. I was enjoying how bad this was til that scene, and it just kinda hit me how good this movie coulda been. I don't know if there's comic lore for any other villain impersonating joker, but I think it's the perfect way to either explain this joker in your head cannon or a reason to bring him back. I really don't hate this Leto character, it just doesn't feel like joker. Wouldn't mind him seeing do something with this version of the character.
Check out Batman: The Animated Series if you haven't already, you'll love it. Then there's Mask of the Phantasm... now that's a Batman movie you could set your watch to.
Eh, while I do recommend he watches it , I hear some folks also recommending that Brandon watch The Animated Series as well. But if I was Brandon, I recommend he should hold on that one for a while, since another channel called Watchtower Database saw many inconsistencies that didn’t line up. So they are still trying to figure out what order do the episodes go in for timeline purposes. (Though two thing are for certain: The movie Batman: Mask of the Phantasm, takes place right after the episode, Cape and Cowl Conspiracy since it’s the introduction of the Bat-Light, which shows up in that movie. And Robin or Harley Quinn didn't exist until after the movie.)
Something else I'd think you'd love is the Harley Quinn animated series on HBO Max...it's legitimately one of the funniest shows I've ever seen but it also handles Harley Quinn really well! Highly recommend!
This movie wasn't THAT bad (still flawed though). It was just an example of a director having a totally different vision from the studio and both visions fought and clashed. Same thing happened with Zack Snyder and Warner, until we got Zack's actual version.
I agree. I don't get the total hate that this film gets. There were parts that didn't work for me, but it certainly isn't the worst movie ever made. Some of the comments on how awful this movie is seems a little over the top.
Had they stuck with David Ayer's original vision, or at least stuck closer to Batman: Assault on Arkham, it would've been so much better; if you haven't seen it already, The Suicide Squad is what a live action Suicide Squad movie should be; watching the animated shows and films really helps as well
You hit all the nails in the head on your review/reaction to this film. For those of us who were waiting for this project you could imagine the disappointment leaving the theatre with the final product. The 2021 was a major upgrade in my opinion, James Gunn killed it.
Excited to see your upcoming DC reactions! I know you will love the new suicide squad and Zach Snyder’s Justice League. Think you would really enjoy Birds of Prey too. Out of all the characters in this movie Katana is most deserving of her own movie, she's got a great backstory. She's also an extended member of the Bat-Family and was Bruce's number 1 choice when forming the original Outsiders team so you know she's got skills. I'd watch a Katana movie directed by Quentin Tarantino.
In the comics Katana was one of the main characters but not because Waller wanted her there, she was Batman's Insider (see what I did there?), it's how Bat's was always one step ahead of Waller and knew all her plans.
Yes. I literally can't fathom that. Because the new one is FAR worse. Terrible. 0 Substance. Literally no villain. Worse characters. MAYBE better jokes. Worse cinematography and fight choreography. It felt like a product. Like a marvel movie PRODUCT. Not a film. A studio designed product.

7:54, Yes, exactly! That's what the original video was supposed to be. They fight the Joker in the first film, then fight the Enchantress in the second film, but the producers refused.
The Joker that Jared is playing is comic book accurate but the problem is the "when" and "how many" of it all, most people know Joker as he is now which was perfectly portrayed by Heath But Jared's Joker is closer related to Jack's Joker and to find this joker you need to go all the way back to the original joker. The original Golden Joker wasn't "The Clown Prince of Crime" he was just a brutal mob boss that killed people and left joker cards around, then Silver Age he because a mob boss that killed people and looked like a clown (this will be Jacks Joker in '89 Batman), then we move into Bronze age and this is the joker everyone points to as the definitive joker the Clown Prince of Crime, what Jared does which kills the character is he takes elements from all the jokers and makes a joker soup and that's what we get here, a Mob Boss, playing at being a clown who kills people but he just can't stick the clown aspect.
The weird thing is that the studio cut out all of the "funny" bits of his Joker. Like him pretending to be a judge's wife laying in bed, the scene where him and Harley manipulate the gangster at the strip club to shoot himself in the head only to comment "smart guy... lotta brains", him killing a security guard with a hammer on his face because he was angry that a bomb didn't kill him, him saying that when Enchantress makes him king of Gotham he will make Batman his vice-president cause they have a story. Maybe my favorite would be when he shows up at the final battle with Waller's trigger in his hand and the Squad is like "nah it can't be, he's not real he died" so Joker is like "ok ok so if I'm not real this isn't gonna blow your heads up" and Deadshot says "no no no no he's real he's real" basically shitting his pants. You make a good Joker by balancing him being scary and him being funny (in his own dark way). If you only try to make him scary you get just an edgy idiot who overacts his craziness (Leto's Joker in this "movie") and if you only try to make him funny you get Cesar Romero's Joker.

This Joker is indeed based off one from the comics, but they just didn't give him the screen time to make him seem like a believable character. Or at least didn't choose the right scenes
This movie was actually re-edited by the trailer company prior to release which is why it feels like a music video at times with its music and editing pace
I have always contended that the whole point of this movie was only to introduce Harley Quinn into the DC movie universe. Nothing else in the movie but her matters in this. It's all about establishing her. And it's the right thing to do.
Omg everything you have said in this reaction, I have thought the same thing when I saw the movie in theaters. Thank you for validating my opinion. lol
David Ayer has actually done some great stuff. End of Watch and Fury are both really really good! He also wrote Training Day, so he definitely has some hits 👍
There are a few actors that clearly carried this film to show how much potential it really could have had: Margot (obviously), Cara for her mannerisms of Enchantress, Viola for how well she pulls off Waller and the actor for Diabloe. Rick Flag could have been so much more compelling, especially since June was his girlfriend, it fell flat (at least for me) in most parts. I actually don't mind this version of the Joker as preformative as he is (hate the tattoos especially), with how co-dependent he has Harley, I can see him doing these "honeymoon" manipulative tactics to keep her strung along so that when it does hit a low she'll always stay because these moments, I just wish it was been written out that way. Then it would make sense that the Joker is being performative because that's exactly what it is, performance to keep her at his side, but this might've just come down to the actor's performance.
Robbie was meant to be Quinn. She's perfect. The only other character I enjoy that seems to fit the role is the Flash. Though in the next Suicide Squad, a lot of people really fit the roles too. Quinn has always been my fav when it comes to DC. I'm glad they briefly gave her that jester outfit in prison, calling back to her days in the Batman animated series where she would wear it with her giant sledge hammer.
The songs featured blew up because of this movie. The Purple Lamborghini music video features the Joker, Heathens leans into the prison. The marketing for this movie was fantastic, which over-hyped the movie.
If you want a better Rick Flag you won’t be disappointed by 2021’s Suicide Squad. I recommend watching Altered Carbon, in which Rick Flag’s actor Joel Kinnaman stars in. It shows off his acting better than this movie ever* could. And if you liked Harley in this, you’ll love her in Birds Of Prey.
Suicide Squad, Birds Of Prey & The Suicide Squad are the Harley Quinn Trilogy of the DCEU. You might want to watch Birds Of Prey before The Suicide Squad for continuity reasons having to do with Harley Quinns character arc.
apparently, it was the trailer house that ended up editing the film. fan response to the first couple of trailers was a gross positive, so the studio decided to have the trailer house that handled the official trailer ( the Bohemian Rhapsody one I think) edit the movie. also, Birds of Prey takes place before the Suicide Squad (2021) but it doesn't really matter what order you watch them in.
James Gunn's the suicide squad is 10 times better I think you'll definitely like it and Margot Robbie continues to be awesome as Harley Quinn in Birds of prey which I really liked and the suicide squad which was my favourite movie of 2021
Suicide Squad was supposed to be a "smaller" budget and fun DCU film, but after Batman v Superman was not well received and did not performed as expected at the box office , the powers that be decided to raise its profile, raise its expectations and make it more .... colourful. After the success of Guardians of the Galaxy with the soundtrack they also pimped the film with cool tracks but it was edited like a music video or a trailer. It's soooo cringe. The one guys that does not get a double introduction and a soundtrack obviously is not important and dies straight away. There are so many bad things about it, it's a train wreck, but a train wreck that I enjoy many parts of.
Wait, have you already seen BvS: Ultimate Cut??? Either way, We’re getting this much closer to Zack Snyder’s Justice League and I am SOOOOOOOO HYPED!!!!
There is a comic calles the 3 jokers which goes into the 3 different people who have been 'the joker' down the years, 1st was the criminal, very much the jack Nicholson portrayal, pragmatic and serious, then you have the clown joker, heath ledgers more showman, theatrical performance, then you have the comedian, and he is meant to be more psychopathic which is what they aimed for with leto. Weirdly in the joker film with phoenix his joker was called Arthur, not a name connected to the joker almost like he is someone that inspired the others to become 'the joker' as its an image that gives fear to gotham after what happened live on tv.... That or arthur imagined the whole thing, lol
Without spoiling. Jared Leto gets another short scene as The Joker in another movie, without the grill teeth or the stupid "damaged" tattoo, and with different directing. And he does a way better job and shows he could have played a much better joker than we got.
It always frustrated that several people say Task Force X is a counter to Superman and no one responds, "Sooo... what is the boomerang guy going to do against Superman? And the guy with the ropes? Are they Kryptonite ropes? No? So what are we even talking about here?"
birds of prey is an excellent movie in my opinion, it was definitely made for the female superhero fans but it’s still very enjoyable and made me love Harley Quinn even more
This is why you don’t hire a trailer editing company to re edit your film. But you know, Warner Bros. They can’t help themselves. It’s as if they wait til a movie is made and then say, “Great. Now, how can we ruin this?”
The biggest problem with this movie is it really just feels like action set pieces with almost nothing connecting the thing as a whole. I think someone involved in the high up decision making sphere had only really done trailers before.
Another of its biggest problems is the poorly written and acted characters. Which is a pretty huge problem. But also, no, they tried to re-edit the film to feel like a big music video because that's how the trailers were cut and people loved the trailers.
Jared Leto is an incredible actor, films like Dallas Buyers Club (for which he won a Best Supporting Actor Oscar) , Mr Nobody, Chapter 27 and Requiem for a Dream proved that he is one of the best actors out there! It wasn't all his fault, I blame the makeup designers and the script.
If you want movies that handle many characters well, I highly recommend the entire Expendables trilogy if you hadn't seen them yet. Throwing a ton of big name action guys (mostly old, but some newer.) Stallone continues his art of blood and carnage in warzones :)

I don't know what the problem was but there were problems throughout this movie . I actually preferred Jared Leto's Joker more than most people.... he might not have come off as psycho as Jack was but I really liked his style of romance much more than Jack's . Harley really did see the Joker in this movie as her "puddin" and having "date night" that was what was missing for me when Jack was The Joker..... I wanted to see that side of him but from the Batman film it didn't happen ; Jack's "Joker" character was more about revenge than anything else . The element of banter and romance as demented as it was between Harley and The Joker were some of my favorite scenes . I was not really surprised at Margot as great as she was here . Margot knocked it out of the park for me . There was good chemistry with The Solider and June Moone ; there were moments that felt really forced also but some moments went smoothly . It was as if there were two different people in charge trying to make "kind of" the same movie . I have seen "Birds of Prey" and I look forward to seeing your reactions and commentary for that.... And just goes to show that the director should have been given free reign. When both styles are put next to eachover you can really see the difference.
The studio who edited this movie, usually edits music videos which explains the fast pace
"This movie actually has potential." Brandon, you nailed the entire disappointment of this film right here. It's not good enough to be good. But it's just good enough in spots to show you that it could have been.
Totally agree. Heard the studio stuck their fingers into the writing, production, and editing. That's why it seems good and bad in pieces.
So people actually dislike this movie?
@@うちはマダラ-y4x I would say rather that they found it disappointing, because it showed that it could have been so much better, but not bad at all.
A director's cut needs to be released
“Jim Carrey Joker.”
Took the words right out of my mouth.
That’s so accurate.
Jim Carrey was the riddler.
@@ernestinewhite907 he meant that Leto's joker looks like an impersonation of Jim Carrey if he played the joker.
Almost as if Joker is closer to being Jim Carrey than people want to admit.
Not being on Patreon has its benefits, I didn’t see this one coming 😂
Hope you enjoyed it!
It’s hard for me to really hate this film because like you said, there’s some good moments in there and I feel like there is a decent film in there some where which makes it a frustrating watch. I really hope that we get to see David Ayer’s true vision one day! 🤞
I haven't seen a video of you critiquing a movie or show before but I actually really enjoy it, you have a lot to say and it shows how much you know about the medium. I'd love to see some more reactions to movies with lower public perceptions
I don't love everything about it, but found it entertaining enough
A perfect description. 👍🏼
For me margot, jai save the movie. Rick flag, waller and our fire demi God are also fun
It was top 3 worst movies I ever seen in a theater and I’ve watched a LOT of film. Such a mess.
REALLY hoping Doom Patrol on HBO is on that list. Brendan Fraser is incredible, not to mention Timothy dalton! April bowlbe is outstanding, Jovian wade as cyborg brings a great performance too! It’s super wacky and green lit for a fourth season so you’ve got plenty of content there!
Yes! And yeah the first few episodes are kinda stank but after that it just blows up into episodic greatness.
Doom Patrol has the best version of Cyborg! They give the character much more humanity than any of the films did.
Doom Patrol is underrated AF
That'd be cool but considering the show doesn't even get lots of attention from DC fans I'm not sure how that would go into view counts
@@jasminmujezinovic324 its sad that things like the new suicide squad and peacemaker get overrated and hyped to the high heavens while things like doom patrol get ignored
Definitely not as bad as people say but it's definitely not good
We need an Ayer cut, cause this had so much potential
All the music, editing and effects were not planned while filming, due to the trailer going massively viral the studio execs thought it would be a good idea to get the trailer editors heavily involved in editing the movie
Literally such a stupid idea hahahaha, the editing is way to much like the whole film is a trailer lmao
@@pimp_floyd5024 Who would have thought that being good at editing a trailer doesn't make you good at editing a movie.

I enjoyed it a lot. It wasn't incredible, Enchantress wasn't a great villain or anything but I felt Will Smith and Margot Robbie were tremendous.

I agree. I was so bummed he wasn’t in the next one because their chemistry/interactions was one of the best things about this movie.
@@calivibes_84 I also felt they have good chemistry, as they did a film together before "focus" about con artists and I always felt that was more enjoyable than it had any right to be, and after this movie I knew it was because Smith and Robbie was the reason why
Yes, yes it was.
Really excited for your reaction to the sequel though! One of my favourite movies of 2021. I think you’ll love it!
Some parts I like more than others, but it was somewhat entertaining. My dad prefers this one over the new one so different strokes for different folks lol.
I think the Extended Cut is pretty decent. There's a lot left out of the Theatrical release.
I know most people would disagree with me but I don't know I just love this movie. I wish they made the second movie like this one just I little bit better or made a separate movie with just focused on the Joker and Harley Quinn and bring back Margo Robbie and Jared Leto because the highlight of this movie for me was Harley Quinn and Joker.
I completely agree!
I felt like this had flashes of potential, the acting was good but the edits were terrible, rushed scenes, often jumps around without context at times.
"Acting was good" hahaha
Margot Robbie brought Harley Quinn to life so good.
So well. Yes I’m an English major Virgo here.
@@vincentjoyce5100 I used to respond to a manager that would ask "are you doing good?" With I'm doing well, superman does good. I've heard it's been used in a show or movie, but I haven't seen it if it has, and have said that for a couple decades.
Birds Of Prey and 2021’s Suicide Squad are a significant improvement.
I know it's bad but it's a guilty pleasure of mine!
Due for another rewatch at some point 😂
Let’s hope David Ayer gets his director’s cut for this movie

Keep up the Great Work my man, been watching for 1-2yrs🔥
Really appreciate it!!
Only thing I can say is ‘The Suicide Squad’ is better
Mask of the Phantasm is the best theatrically released Batman film!
@@JCG52577 I saw it in the theater. Totally worth it. Then I bought the vhs tape.
Totally agree
This movie wasn't THAT bad (still flawed though). It was just an example of a director having a totally different vision from the studio and both visions fought and clashed. Same thing happened with Zack Snyder and Warner, until we got Zack's actual version.
I agree. I don't get the total hate that this film gets. There were parts that didn't work for me, but it certainly isn't the worst movie ever made. Some of the comments on how awful this movie is seems a little over the top.
@@iamredoctober Well put

Edit: After seeing how much you love Harley in this I know you will have a great time with her next appearances. She only gets better in each film. If you have never seen the adult animated Harley Quinn show, you should consider checking it out in your own time or on the channel if that interests you. It’s really good.
Harley actually only gets better as the movies go along. I can't wait for you to get to Zack Snyder's Justice League!!
Justice League just barely beat Spider-Man for my favorite movie of 2021
I've been a Subscriber for just about a year now and it finally dawned on me who you remind me of, Randy Santel the professional eater. Randy can drink a 6 pack in under a minute, you don't seem like a heavy drinker. I'm rambling 'cause I'm drinking beer right now. carry on.
In the comics Katana was one of the main characters but not because Waller wanted her there, she was Batman's Insider (see what I did there?), it's how Bat's was always one step ahead of Waller and knew all her plans.
it’s almost unfathomable how much better “The Suicide Squad” (2021) is to this movie.
Yes. I literally can't fathom that. Because the new one is FAR worse. Terrible. 0 Substance. Literally no villain. Worse characters. MAYBE better jokes. Worse cinematography and fight choreography.
It felt like a product. Like a marvel movie PRODUCT. Not a film. A studio designed product.
@@RevRyukin7 Like him or not, James Gunn is known for having his own vision and all of his movies have his recognizable stamp on them. Accusing of him not being distinct is kind of ridiculous.
@@RevRyukin7 it’s amazing just how wrong you are. You’re entitled to your opinion, but you are factually wrong with every point you made.
“0 substance”? Did you not miss the dynamic between Cleo and Dubois? Rick Flags compassion for the squad? Polka-dot mans trauma? And even if it had zero substance, what part of this movie has more substance and thought than anything in the new one?
Amanda Waller is the villain. She represents the US. She is the driving force behind why Bloodsport goes on the mission.
Dead wrong on characters, too. To say every character in SS is paper-thin would be a compliment. In the new one, characters get unique backstories and personalities that are expanded upon.
There’s not a single doubt that every joke in the new film is funnier than this movie.
“Worse cinematography” this is one of the ugliest films ever put to cinemas. Everything is scrubbed over with a disgusting grey tint. We have actual color and beautiful shots that you can see in the new one.
You’re also dead wrong on fighting, since we can actually see what’s going on in the new one, and the fights are engaging, fun, brutal, and creative.
This is certainly no product. 2016 SS is certainly a product by WB. TSS is the unique, fun, creative vision of one James Gunn.

Brandon your Man of Steel reaction was what turned me onto your channel so it's amazing to hear you're going to be reacting to two of my other favourite cb movies in BvS:UE and ZSJL. 2022 already off to a great start!
@@ferdinandofallica5869 We need a "snyder cut" for this, I've never heard of specific scenes they cut before all I knew was he was a significant part of the movie and he claims he recorded enough content to make a whole stand alone movie. This Joker is indeed based off one from the comics, but they just didn't give him the screen time to make him seem like a believable character. Or at least didn't choose the right scenes
Awesome review as always, can't wait for other DCEU Movies reactions👍
"GQ Joker" 😂😂 you kill me Brandon.
This movie was actually re-edited by the trailer company prior to release which is why it feels like a music video at times with its music and editing pace
"There is a good movie in here somewhere" Yea it came out this past year 🤣
I have always contended that the whole point of this movie was only to introduce Harley Quinn into the DC movie universe. Nothing else in the movie but her matters in this. It's all about establishing her. And it's the right thing to do.
Omg everything you have said in this reaction, I have thought the same thing when I saw the movie in theaters. Thank you for validating my opinion. lol
The biggest problem for me is the threat level is so high that it doesnt make sense, like where the fuck are the batmans and supermans????
The company that edited the trailer. Was given the movie to re-edit it.
The bar scene is apparently the scene that best represents the original tone of the film before it was re-edited into a mess.
Also Katana’s actress plays Kimiko in The Boys. Glad she got another chance to shine instead of being remembered for this
In this case the mask was pretty beneficial :-D
You make everything exciting to watch. That's a gift, man!
Robbie was meant to be Quinn. She's perfect. The only other character I enjoy that seems to fit the role is the Flash. Though in the next Suicide Squad, a lot of people really fit the roles too. Quinn has always been my fav when it comes to DC. I'm glad they briefly gave her that jester outfit in prison, calling back to her days in the Batman animated series where she would wear it with her giant sledge hammer.
i agree
The songs featured blew up because of this movie. The Purple Lamborghini music video features the Joker, Heathens leans into the prison. The marketing for this movie was fantastic, which over-hyped the movie.
If you want a better Rick Flag you won’t be disappointed by 2021’s Suicide Squad. I recommend watching Altered Carbon, in which Rick Flag’s actor Joel Kinnaman stars in. It shows off his acting better than this movie ever* could. And if you liked Harley in this, you’ll love her in Birds Of Prey.
Harley was actually created for Batman the Animated Series. The character was so great she was added into the comics even getting her own solo titles.
Love the Harley character and Margot Robbie was the perfect choice

Can't wait to see the reaction for the newer Suicide Squad, because it handled its plot and characters so much better than this one.
*The* Suicide Squad is absolutely amazing, Its so much fun with some great twists and turns
Truly amazing how much difference one word can make.
Suicide Squad, Birds Of Prey & The Suicide Squad are the Harley Quinn Trilogy of the DCEU. You might want to watch Birds Of Prey before The Suicide Squad for continuity reasons having to do with Harley Quinns character arc.
yep
This movie had so much potential.
2021 Suicide Squad is way better, but the tone is entirely different too. And the fun parts don't fall flat.
apparently, it was the trailer house that ended up editing the film. fan response to the first couple of trailers was a gross positive, so the studio decided to have the trailer house that handled the official trailer ( the Bohemian Rhapsody one I think) edit the movie. also, Birds of Prey takes place before the Suicide Squad (2021) but it doesn't really matter what order you watch them in.
I can't wait for you to watch the 2021 version. Its so good, especially as a contrast to this one.
It's called Bait.
birds of prey is an excellent movie in my opinion, it was definitely made for the female superhero fans but it’s still very enjoyable and made me love Harley Quinn even more
You nailed my thoughts 100% when I watched this release in 2016. So much potential. Great React!
This is why you don’t hire a trailer editing company to re edit your film. But you know, Warner Bros. They can’t help themselves. It’s as if they wait til a movie is made and then say, “Great. Now, how can we ruin this?”
This here's Brandon. He can watch anything. I wouldn't advise getting reviewed by him. His words trap the meaning of what they're describing.
You should check out End of Watch. The director wrote/directed it. One of his good movies… really good!!
yes
Honestly, if Suicide Squad movie was made in the 90s, I think many of those action stars would actually be perfect casting for every different role.
I actually enjoyed this movie if I only listened to online critics I would have missed out on a lot of entertaining movies, thanks Brandon everyone have a great day!
Hey Brandon, I am surprised that I didn't see this posted when you did this but I am very glad I got to see this now. I am probably one of the few people that really enjoyed this version so much. Now given that fact..... I feel that there were big bits in filming that needed to be done better but maybe filming time was an issue .
I won't spoil it for you by giving my thoughts on it but I might after you react here . Thank you for this Brandon and much appreciation to your channel .
15:31, they tried that with Harley Quinn And The Birds Of Prey, but it didn't work.
