    Dear sir ! I wanna thank you for being a great teacher! I am not just saying this , you are proof that teaching styles matter! My husband and I needed a tutorial on how to install crown molding for beginners and tried two other videos before we found yours, the other videos were using these pro terms and we destroyed crown molding and was giving up until your video! Thank you for a simple step by step and illustrated way to do this successfully!! Forever grateful!!

    Absolutely the best video for describing how to make these cuts!!! One tip for beginners like myself..... make sure the fence of your saw is high enough for the crown molding base to be flush against the fence, (mine was not so we had to improvise). Thank you for this video!!

    Very helpful video . Unfortunately after following closely my angles still didn’t line up well enough. Too wide to hide with caulk. I used a 90 square and see walls are not square. If the angle is more than 90 , 94” what is the solution to correct.
    Same question if it’s under 90’ . Also seems. Necessary to nail into every wall stud .. ? Thanks

    • @DIYwithMAX
      @DIYwithMAX  5 месяцев назад

      You can cut slivers off molding at the angle off the side that has a large gap and insert them then caulk. The corner.

    So the bevel and miter were both at 45?

    • @DIYwithMAX
      @DIYwithMAX  3 месяца назад +1

      No, bevel is upright at 0 and miter at 45 because you are angling the molding it self on the saw so you don’t have to mess with the bevel.

    Is it worth it to measure the inside corner angle in case it isn't 45 degrees? Or don't bother?

    • @DIYwithMAX
      @DIYwithMAX  Год назад +1

      Hey Chris thank you for taking the time to ask the question. We never measure because it takes a lot more time and caulk hides all those imperfections but if you have a funky shaped room or you think the angle is way off then you should take the time to check just to be sure and not waist material at today’s prices. I hope you found this answer helpful. Thank you for subscribing to support the channel and please let me know if I can help in any other way.

    Is the main difference between crown molding and door molding basically the 45 degree bevels at the edges that contact the wall and ceiling? Aside from the more decorative design-

    • @DIYwithMAX
      @DIYwithMAX  5 месяцев назад

      Correct. And the crow has to be cut upside down to get the right cut.

      @@DIYwithMAX it just seems the prices charged for crown molding is disproportionately high; doesn't seem like it's because they're particular difficult to manufacture.
      Is it just because that's what the market will bear?

    • @DIYwithMAX
      @DIYwithMAX  5 месяцев назад

      @dubmob151 it depends where your buying. I bought mine at a lumber yard and it was a lot cheeper then a big box store. And usually because your buying spruce and molding they will negotiate the price down if your buying everything in bulk.

    Great video but I have what is probably a very dumb question. Where do I make the mark to cut the right length off and make the two pieces come together perfectly? Also, how do I account for the thickness of the sawblade when making my mark to make sure the measurement is perfectly accurate?

    • @DIYwithMAX
      @DIYwithMAX  11 месяцев назад

      Great question. For the length of the molding you measure always by the bottom as those will be the ends that touch each side of the wall if that makes sense. As for blade thickness it should not be a factor if you cut outside the line. It’s always better to keep the peace a little longer and do an extra trim than to have large gaps. I don’t show this in the video because it would be to repetitive but we bring each peace of molding two or three times to make sure the fit is as close to perfect as we can get. This is only a problem if your doing this work for others because it will take longer but if your doing this for your self it’s more important that it’s done right instead of fast. I hope this answers your questions if not please reach out I’m always happy to help. Please hit the like 👍 button so this video is recommended to more folks like you looking for this information.
