I know both of these cities very well and to me there isn't even a competition unless you need a larger city for work opportunities. You said Myrtle Beach isn't necessarily better, but it is! First of all there's a beach. Also the traffic, yes even during tourist season, is far better in Myrtle Beach. Everything is closer together in Myrtle Beach so it's easier to get around to stuff you want to get to. Charlotte has Carowinds which is fun and stores you won't find in Myrtle Beach like Ikea - but none of that is enough to override having a beach! You know we love the Pinball Museum in Myrtle Beach!

Thanks for the tip on the Pinball Museum Jerry, I wasn't aware of that attraction, but being a pinball fan myself (especially the old Gottlieb machines) next time I find myself in the area, I'll be sure to check out the museum! Another well done informative video Jerry!
    Enjoy the summertime ahead.

Financially, SC is better for retirees. Contributory negligence in NC is also a deal breaker for anyone who drives.

My line of work is insurance auto claims recovery and yes, pure contributory negligence (bars any recovery if even 1% negligence is assessed to either party) is an, in my opinion, an outdated negligence model used only in 5-6 states/jurisdictions (MD, NC, AL, VA, DC). SC uses a modified comparative negligence system, whereby, parties can recover at 50/50 one side can if they are less than 50% negligent. I wouldn’t let this be a deal breaker for me. If the rates are decent in a state, that’s ok by me. But SC tax structure far more advantageous. But utilities are def high with no deregulation and legislators putting ratepayers on the hook for that nuclear plant expansion boondoggle.
