I’ll make it simple for everyone. SC is Country Mouse. NC is City Mouse. Neither is bad, just different. It all depends on the lifestyle you would like to live. Just remember the reason you decided to move to the Carolinas. If you move here because your state was poorly run by the government and you have high taxes and high crime, don’t vote for the same policies that made you want to move in the first place.
The concept of mini-retirement changed my life. I'm no longer waiting for some retirement paradise when I'm 65. It helps to know how to fund the lifestyle. You know, making money while you sip that piña colada by the beach does help. I wouldn't have been able to do it otherwise.
I grew up in the Midwest, Southern Illinois. I moved to Columbus, Georgia for a couple years for grad school, which was my first welcoming to the South. Then I moved to Columbia, South Carolina. I recently moved to the Upstate area, and I've never looked. SC is for the free-spirited, and it is my home.
That’s hilarious, I moved to Columbus,Ga a little over a year ago for work and i have been looking at Summerville and Columbia, SC area to move in the future
As someone who has lived in NC my entire life, but also as someone who has owned property in Myrtle Beach for about 20 years, I prefer the Myrtle Beach area for many reasons. The weather is better (warmer/sunnier), there are palm trees (NC beaches do not have palms), there are a lot more entertainment and activity options in Myrtle Beach than at any of the beaches in NC. Most of the beaches in NC are "sleepy". Nice if you want to get away and relax, but not somewhere I want to live full time. And as you mentioned we get hit hard by hurricanes in NC a lot because we stick out. I'd say there are more job opportunities in NC, but if that isn't an issue (retiring or working remotely), Myrtle Beach is better in my opinion!
Thanks for sharing your insights on NC vs SC! I have to agree there are more jobs in the big cities but nothing like the exciting beach life here in the Myrtle Beach SC area. I guess that is why our area continues to grow. :) See ya in the next video.
Well....I'm close to 60 and ably able to work still; driving Class A trucks. Considering moving and staying with Ryder Trucking...if I can keep my current net pay. I like riding four-wheelers too...so I think North C, trumps South here. I don't actually care about the beach line....more than 5-10 visits a year...can't afford beach property...so, this is a moot point. 1) Where are North Carolinas best "riding trails" of 100-200 mile runs...if they exist 2) A person making 65K and taking home 50K...where can they find a small house...then rent out a room to augment one's income close to #1's needs please?
@@frankfromupstateny3796 Literally, anywhere in NC. NC has much more industry than SC, and has more to do outside of simply going to the beach or hanging in a "beach area". I'd say the best trails are near the mountains, toward the Western side of NC. The beaches are on the Eastern Seaboard. You should be good to go anywhere West of Raleigh. East of Raleigh things drop off considerably - towns are smaller and there's less going on, industry-wise. Generally, if a city doesn't have a public bus system, there's not enough chances for advancement for the average person - which means there's much less money circulating in the local economy, which means a lower quality of life for the average citizen, IMO.
My husband and I are moving to South Carolina because we like warmer weather and more sunshine 🌞 We are from northern Michigan it is very cold in the long winters and hardly any sun.
Both are beautiful states. I moved to NC from PA 20 years ago. SC better for older retired people. Overall, the jobs there don’t pay well. The job growth and wages are much higher in NC. The state is a huge tech hub. If I was already financially set, I would choose SC, if you are working age and want to make a good wage, NC is better in my opinion
Nc gets more snow. The Upstate of SC gets plenty but the Midstate gets 24-48 hours worth every 3 or so years. It's pretty & everyone goes on vacation when it snows because we have no snow equipment & there is a lot of black ice.
As a person who loves to work and modify my cars, I love states like South Carolina, that has no required inspections, I keep my cars safer than required
@@JerryPinkas Thanks, I have a job opportunity in Grand Strand SC, I may take, I rejected a job in Statesville North Carolina, partly because they have worse car inspection rules than Upstate NY.
I'm from Pawleys Island SC and the reasons for living here are far too numerous to list in one message. But I'll share a story which sums it all up quite well. My mom and her best friend which happend to be a SC state Senators wife, were shopping at the grocery store when a man who you could easily tell was from New York because of his accent, was bitching and complaining about the lines at the check out counter. He eventually broke in line by saying, "Look unlike you people, I'm a busy person and I had to be somewhere else 10 minutes ago so, I'm just gonna get in front of the line here." The cashear started to say, "Well that's not very courteous what about..." Then he interrupterd her and started abusing her as well. Anyway everyone just went silent while he was checked out. Then when he got his groceries and headed to the exit door my mom's friend who was a polite well bred Southern lady from Charleston but also not weak a person at all went up to him, looked him in the eye and said, with a refined Southern accent, "You're not from around here are you?" Well that was all it took and even though he was obviously embarrassed but still too proud to apologise he said as he left "Well I don't give a damn what all y'all think anyway." At that point everyone was statred laughing at him which seemed to make it even worse for him. He then flipped everyone the bird and stormed out. At which point everyone in the market started cheering and applauding which he also heard as he was leaving.
@@Psalm91-1 Ho do you know he was Californian? Did he present you with a birth certificate. People in California don't have an accent. Maybe you just like to trash people from CA.
Florida was my #1 choice, but lately I'm second guessing myself. I would like to live somewhere with a lot of things for the children to do, that includes museums, parks, and golf courses. My daughter plays junior golf. Crime is a big factor in my decision. For a second we thought about Naperville Illinois because they have such a low crime stats. North Carolina was on my list, but I had bad memories about living in Camp Lejeune. I found things far from each other and too cold in the winter for my liking. I live in California and retiring soon, so any southern state would be cheaper than the Bay area. I have been looking for place to call home, but every time I believe I found something I like, I dig for more information and something always throws me off. For example in Florida the property and car insurance is insane, that defeats the point of not having state tax. Naperville is too cold in the winter and some reports said that Chicago crime is moving to the suburbs and what is the point to living close to a big city when you won't enjoy it because of crime. San Diego is too expensive. Texas too hot with mega property tax. Is anyone on the same boat as I'm. North or South Carolina are the areas of my research at this point.
DeSantis has ruined Florida. He’s taken away all the autonomy of the cities and towns. They no longer have any say so in much of their management decisions. And all the state revenue comes from the property taxes.
My wife and I are from NJ. In 2021 we decided to build a “retirement “ home in Horry County SC. About 40 miles from Myrtle Beach and about 10 miles from NC border. We are so pleased with our decision, between the housing prices skyrocketing and the mortgage rates rising, it was a fantastic decision. God wiling, in 2026, we will be living here full time. I guess we’ll have the best of both states. We believe either is better than NJ!!😂
Always enjoy the in depth explanations & insights you bring to your videos Jerry. Thanks for sharing more of this with those of us seeking to relocate from up east, to a more enjoyable & relaxed life down south yonder. For me, taxes & cost of living are the two major influences which tip S.C. in favor of N.C. for me, although my partner & I are still undecided if Myrtle Beach or upstate may be more in line with our budget, time will tell, but until that time comes, we're enjoying the many videos yourself and others put together to share with us.
Mid state to coast of sc you’ll barely get snow but are more prone to flooding cause it’s flatter. Greenville is a great city in top 10 places to go in US so a county close by is good choice imo
@@thecandyman9308 I live in a pristine upscale neighborhood of n a half acre with a pool so I have made my own luck and loving life here! Also the local police are not murdering unarmed citizens and then declaring themselves innocent
@@thecandyman9308 Columbia isn’t that bad. There are better parts of SC… especially the beaches and mountainous areas but Columbia is pretty good. There are lots of upscale (rich) neighborhoods and calm areas with little to no crime.
I chose Columbia too! Although I'm not retired, I found that Columbia, SC has a very good economy, and is rich with good food, things to do (I love USC) And although Columbia's traffic can get pretty crappy in certain areas, Columbia still has a very southern comfort and feel. Not to mention that the sun shines a lot in the whole state.
I am partial to SC. Of course, I chose to move there when I moved from cold, rigid and sunless Pennsylvania where I'd lived for 10 years (but I'm originally from DC)...SC is very hospitable, the people are relaxed and friendly. NC on there other hand has tooooooo many people from NY, NJ and other northern states, and somehow, that whole southern feel seems lost. Nothing against northerners, but places like Charlotte just doesn't feel southern enough for me anymore.
Proverbs 17:28 KJV Even a fool, when he holdeth his peace, is counted wise: And he that shutteth his lips is esteemed a man of understanding. I’ll apply this verse to myself. Feb 14 Bob Marley.
Currently, we live in Key West, Florida (military). Now when we move, we’re looking at moving to outside of Fort Jackson, South Carolina (mostly the Columbia area). I grew up in the south (Richmond, Virginia) and my husband grew up in the mountains of Kittanning, Pennsylvania). We are excited to move to Columbia after he retires!
I honestly was considering the Clayton, NC area but I did end up moving to Kingstree,SC. I wanted to be closer to the beach and when said about the economy in SC seems to be true so far. Thank you so much for your information
Currently live in Western, Rochester NY. With all the political issues and high taxes we have set a date in fall 2022 to move south. Mainly leaning in the SC area: Greenville has been on our mind for a while but still open minded to the rest of the state
Friend, my older sister and most of her 👪 family live in Greenville. I've no plans to live anywhere else except I might be looking into an encore career at Boeing down in Chucktown!
Born and raised in NC, moved to SC due to PCS and Colorado (huge eye awakening). Both states are beautiful. To me, the Outer Banks of NC has more Native American history.. SC islands have a lot of Gulla History. Economy wise NC is better. SC has a more laid back and southern hospitality feel than NC. If you're from either area or visit either state, enjoy the mountains and the beach. Colorado is nice, but no place like home!!
@@JerryPinkasI ALSO HAVE TRIED TO WARN CALIFORNIA PEOPLE ABOUT THE WAY NORTH CAROLINA IS NOWADAYS BEFORE THEY RELOCATE OR ARE CONSIDERING RELOCATING TO THE TAR- HEEL STATE (NORTH CAROLINA) SINCE NORTH CAROLINA IS ONE OF THE MOST DESIRED STATES WHERE PEOPLE WANT TO MOVE TO NOW.
@@JerryPinkasTHING THAT I LIKE ABOUT NORTH CAROLINA IS THE MOUNTAINS AND THE PEACEFUL COUNTRYSIDE, AND THAT IS ESPECIALLY WHAT I LIKE ABOUT SOUTH CAROLINA IS THE PEACEFUL COUNTRYSIDE.
My Wife and I have to stay in New York until our youngest is 21 due to ex spouses and court orders, and we are counting down the days (1926) until we can leave this frozen, over taxed hell hole, and our dream is to sell our home (which is paid off), and move to Horry County. I am subscribed, and will be contacting your people when the time is right.

@@paige-95 so sorry to hear that. It is better down here for now at least. Just one thing though. It gets hot/ i mean really hot in the late summer, humidity in some places almost like a rain forest. But other than that its much better. Mountains are good )
It's 2024. I grew up in Staten Island NY, moved in my teens to Harrisburg PA and now in my late 40s I really would love to live near Myrtle or even more in land in the Dillon area. I'm seeing lots of land recently hitting the market.
Carolina Panthers moved their HQ to Fort Mill, SC. Although the stadium is in Charlotte, the team claims both states as their home, which is why it is called the "Carolina" Panthers.
We moved from Colorado to SC. Lake Keowee is spectacular (near Seneca, SC). The hiking there (in the nearby towns of Walhalla and Westminster) is better than NC. Less people and literally dozens of waterfalls!!
I'm from South Carolina. Lived here all my life. I'd never knock anyone wanting to live in North Carolina. It all depends on what you're looking for. I prefer the laid back vibe of the Midlands where 🤔 I'm from. Columbia SC is my hometown and I'm 30 minutes west of there.
I'm a typical yankee transplant to NC. 24 years. Tomorrow is my anniversary of landing here. I feel like I was born in the wrong state i love it so much. But I'm widowed and can't downsize near Raleigh. The prices went up. SC, another favorite place, seems like a great option. I'm pretty sure i don't want to live right near the beach, but a quick 10-15 minute drive. Having a nice community would be a priority. Golf carts a plus. So we'll see how things shake out. Thanks for the video! 👍
Thank you much for your RUclips.. Tremendously helpful. For years I advised Milliken owners and Come Mills. While I have family in NC , I don't want to kayak to my car in Hurricane Season. South Carolina looks right for me. Plus I can drive to NC in less time than it took me to Commute to Wall Street for 35 years Anything is better than New York.

I enjoy watching your videos. If I had to make a decision between these two states, I would have a very hard time as I like them both. I wouldn’t know which to choose. That’s why I said I would retire in Tennessee lol. I love both these lovely states. I’m from Georgia.
I like both. I lived in both. First Jacksonville, NC and Second Port Royal, SC. Love both area's. Live about 1 and an half years in Jacksonville, NC and 1 year in Port Royal, SC. Both area's are awesome. Love both area's.
I just moved to NC from SC. Both have VERY friendly people. Most of SC is country, NC has better cities. Florida has better beach’s than both states, as I lived there too. Both states are quite beautiful.
I've lived in both states. Born in SC, lived there for 27 years, moved up north for 10 years and then back down to NC for the past 24 years. There isn't a whole lot of difference in the two Carolinas. They are both lovely states. NC is bigger...that's the only difference in my opinion. I love them both.
Glad it was helpful! Going down the days to the beach... right? My team is looking forward to helping you relocate to our area. Hope your having a great day!
My Mom and Daddy was born and raised in North Carolina and I was raised in North Carolina I went School in North Carolina till I was 9 years old finish growing up in Camden South Carolina not home now but I still love North Carolina
I’m a Tarheel (born & raised in NC). I think both states have some lovely areas like Wilmington NC, Charleston SC & Hilton Head. But we have mountains in NC. Unfortunately people move to both states & forget that it’s the South & there are more poverty ridden areas than really nice ones. I hear that complaint alot. I warned you lol
Wilmington is no longer that lovely. It's never ending construction zone. Thick traffic. And overbuilding doesn't bring sky high rent and real estate prices down. So they keep building.
Looking to move to Myrtle Beach by 2023. I don't want to buy a place, but maybe rent a 1 or 2 bedroom condo a block or so in from the beach. Unfortunately I don't drive so I want to be close to the beach, stores and restaurants. Loved the video. Happy I came across it.
As a South Carolinian i would maybe think twice about moving to myrtle beach. We call it the dirty Myrtle for a reason. Lots of amazing places to live, of course, but the popular areas are... kinda trashy. Lot of fun if ypu like that scene though.
I hear that people adore Tega Cay, I'm not too sure myself, but it's super close to the NC state line. Using I-77 you would be passing by Carowinds all the time. You could live in SC and work in NC easily.
Wow Jerry you are so full of information. We will be meeting with your realty company soon. We really appreciate all your videos We always learn so much from you. Have a fantastic day 😀
Moved to lake norman NC in 2002 moved back to the Pa mountains in 2016 to retire. To much growth and traffic and winters are not warm enough. Winters are just terrible in Pa but less traffic and growth. I do miss it sometimes though.
Hey there! Thank you for this video. We are possibly moving here from St. George, UT. It’s too rainy in Seattle and too hot in St. George. We think SC. will be a good fit for our family.
He forgot to mention a few times like no sales tax on groceries, but restaurants and fast food has a high sales tax. No fault car insurance turns me off might as well be in NJ. The roads going to the beach or mountains are good, but the side roads are like the surface of the moon. The SC state parks are the Marriott compared to NC parks. Each site in every SC parks have a water spigot and electric hookup and the electric is only $3 more for a site. Greenville has a natural waterfall and swimming downtown. Santee Cooper has the best freshwater fishing. Actually there is a lot of activities in the state to entertain any family if they take the time to research. I live in NC 5 miles from the state line for lower property taxes and gas which is actually the same as SC since they passed a new gas tax. Liability insurance is low for seniors who don't have tickets. I pay one payment for 12 months liability for 2 vehicles $385. One is 01 and the other 84 so that has to be taken into account. Charlotte- Mecklenburg area is probably best for working people. They would be close to Lake Norman and Lake Wylie, 3 hours to the beach and 2 to the mountains. If you are Democrats stay where you are.
I’m not considering NC, but until I started binging on your videos, I was pretty sure I was going to land on Saint Simons Island in Georgia. I promise to do a proper comparison with Myrtle Beach area. It has been suggested by friends who live in North Myrtle Beach and Murrels Inlet that I should consider Pawleys Island. Not sure if you are familiar with Saint Simons Island, but you are definitely knowledgeable in coastal living. What towns along the Grand Strand do you think might offer a similar vibe and lifestyle to SSI?
Listen, coming from a South Carolinian myrtle Beach ain't to good to live in, liberals, hippies, and criminals have overrun the place along with sharks that can swim 3 feet deep in the water (great whites and tiger sharks aren't uncommon)
North Myrtle is lovely and kinda like a sleepy little area. Still within minutes to Myrtle and near the North Carolina line. I love it there. I lived in North Myrtle for years. Crime rate is lower than Myrtle too.
Congested traffic have you been to Myrtle beach or North myrtle beach lately I'm not even talkin'. Large cities. Try to get around it takes me 30mins to get to church on Sunday s.
I'm in Upstate NY about 10 years off retiring from trucking, my fiancee is in hospital work. We're looking at NE part of SC. Lower taxes, beaches, warmer weather for small scale farming. Upstate NY in the country not NYC I truly avoid that whole region as much as possible way too congested. Open air and better growing weather is ahead of us in South Carolina 👍
well, I am a resident of Communist Canada and am looking to relocate to the Carolinas. I do like the slower pace of life and the warmer weather so SC would be a nice option. Charleston area possibly. But I have family in Charlotte... And there are a lot more disc golf courses in NC... What to do, what to do.
Do a coin toss? I know you are looking forward to your goal of moving to the Carolinas! It won't be long and you will enjoy the abundant sunshine and mild temperatures. You will enjoy the low cost of living and great value. Thanks for watching and commenting. Glad you are enjoying the videos here on this channel.
Jerry, thank You, thank you! I so appreciate this information. I had no idea; I am leaning toward South Carolina. I have been trying to move south since I was 18. Once I saw that ocean I was hooked. I am now sixty and I married a man who grew up in a different country by the sea. This was his first Mn Winter and let’s just say it was a shock to him. So I’m trying to find a investment that will be are permanent home. And that maybe my adult children will appreciate it. And I am hoping for grandkid’s too. When they were young I had a cabin in Wisconsin. And lost it after a comedy errors. And I knew I would not go for going further north. I thought this would be a good compromise. My second time watching. I am learning so much. I just have to find the small coastal town and walk to the beach with my dog. Yeah, what are the rules for dogs on the beach?
Wishing you good luck with your search! Thanks for watching the helpful video on this channel. Give us a call when you are ready. Here is a video about dogs on the beach - ruclips.net/video/iV4eYU9jGyE/видео.html
im more into the beach areas.for people like me because of myrtle beach ,it has a larger area and much more to do while north carolina to me has the better smaller beaches.it all depends on what type beach u like.just one tip tho.carolina beach might be one to stay away from so far as vacationing but thats the only one i wouldnt recommend.
For retirees SC may be better, if you are still working and looking for a good paying job I would suggest NC. The Triangle area, Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill, has the RTP (Research Triangle Park) which has many large businesses headquartered there or offices of many larger companies. Jerry brought up Charlotte which is a large city with plenty of jobs. I'm not as familiar with SC but I do not believe it offers the employment opportunities that NC does.
We've been looking at many states across America as I'm moving over there from England and my partner in Oklahoma with our two young kids. First time really looking into the Carolina's but they seem to be very good states for young families. Probably lean towards the North as I'm a massive sports fan haha plus I work in construction and my partner is healthcare so maybe I need to look into this state more. Great video by the way I'll subscribe!
Great video! I'm in lending...we moved from WA to AZ and I have no idea why but the Carolinas have been on my mind. Plus my wife hates it here in AZ. Maybe we will sell our homes here in AZ and head over in the 5th wheel and figure it out! Thanks for the vid!
Are we related..??😂 Currently residing in CT. I've been traveling to North Myrtle Beach for many years now as a golfing getaway. I understand and respect totally why people choose SC over NC to live. Brought my wife down to visit both states( Wilmington. Charleston, and Myrtle Beach areas) in winter of 2018. She loves both states but leaned more towards NC. So you the old saying, "Happy wife, Happy Life..!!" LOL..!! We found property in Ocean Isle Beach a few miles from the intercoastal when Covid first started. Going to build in about 6-7yrs. I hope you both landed somewhere in the Carolinas in a place you love.....
Selling in Uwharrie National Forest area moved to Virginia. Like the honesty. Actually hate leaving North Carolina. Growing fast than my age. Great Healthcare.
I'm North Carolina born. The town of Pinehurst to be exact. It was designed by the same man that designed New York's Central Park. And N.C. has the Research Triangle Park located ideally near the universities Duke, UNC, & NC State. South Carolina has alligators in some places. And of course North Carolina has the G.O.A.T., Michael Jordan.
@@yarndude7443 mostly on the coastal regions of North Carolina. But you're right. I was never concerned about them when I lived there because I was far from the coast.
Great info thank you but one of the things that I've seen the last couple years is the stories in grand strand area is the infrastructures with electricity & water problems seems there is a lot of blackouts & water pipes breaking that are old the area is not keeping up with these issues
Yes the Myrtle Beach has been upgrading. No problems with electric or water black outs...only planned upgrades. Take notice the next time your in town. Ocean Blvd no longer has overhead power lines, the sidewalks are wider, have more handy cap access and storm water drain upgrades as well. Its been part of a 5 year upgrade plan that has been in the process.
We are all looking for a slower and more relaxed way of life Jerry. I'm from Long Island, NY and life here moves at such a fast pace it is difficult to keep up. The roads and the drivers are insane, 80mph isn't fast enough for some people flashing their high beams at you. I don't blame people, truth is Costs up here are so high across the board to live everyone is super busy and stressed out. Most families with children need to have both parents working, and when you have a few kids fitting everything in is just impossible sometimes. The state has everyone overworked and stressed out and their only solution seems to be legalizing recreational Marijuana and now recently "To Go Drinks" so now you can order take out and a cocktail to go along with it. These are the priorities of our leaders in the north, it's a real shame.
Jobs are an important for the younger generation …….an hospitals and medical facilities were not mentioned, my so is in construction and my daughter is a nurse. A bit more about Average seasonal temperatures and maybe dangerous animals as we have very few Nice presentation, thank you!
Thinking lots about South Carolina. Come from Washington State, but would like to consider a small retirement home in SC? Heading to the East Coast (PA) for the birth of two Grandchildren in late July. Would it be Crazy (hot/humid) to head down to SC mid August for a week or two to just scope things out? I would like to explore both coastal, and interior areas. 🤔
Thanks for watching and sharing your story. That sounds like a good plan! That time of year you can see for your self what the heat and humidity feel like in the height of summer in SC. I've lived in both NC & SC. In my opinion, the folks in SC have more of a plantation mentality. I find Cary NC to be very progressive and a lovely place to live. It is a good blend of the North and South. Big differences between the two.
@@jkeelsnc I have lived in NC 50 years and 20 in SC and have several Yankee friends who have migrated down. They also have "old South" mentality, although technically its old North. Racism may be quieter (do you ever notice how some people (Yankees as well as Southerners, as well as some folks from Michigan I know) lower their voice when they talk about African Americans) ;but in reality we still have problems regardless of which part of this country you live in.
See my post above. I have Melanin in my skin (know what I mean?). SC citizens won't hide the fact that they're good ole' boys, K*K members, or just don't like "those people". Coming from NC, the dislike and outright hate is palpable, IMO. SC is a "Sundown State".
We might retire at the surrounding area in greenville sc, i would love to have a bigger lot and build another new home for us with our plan on how the house would be layed out, french doors is a must and 4 seasons room with an endless swim spa pool, that's the dream!!! Right now we are in Chesapeake VA... looking forward to enjoying the beautiful nature & beaches at the same time!!!

Ok so can anyone give me their opinion about which Carolina state I should move to and why ? PS: thank you for the RUclips video too! It helped me a lot!
2 years we want to sell our house in NYS and come down to SC. Would like to stay 30-45 mins in land from the shore. I hope the price of real estate down there doesn’t go through the roof and prohibit us from coming down!
In my opinion, the absolute 2 most important things that you don't mention are politics and religion. Everything you talk about is important and I appreciate it, but in the times we're living in, I care WAY more about being in a highly Christian and conservative, patriotic place rather than what sports events might be going on.
We are looking for a place to retire n not be house poor. Strapped by a large house payment while Uncle Sam is eating away at our retirement. SC sounds good to me bc we love the beach n warmer weather ❤

I’ve done a lot of research on this and obviously it all depends on your personal situation. Me and my wife love SC but Florida is a better option and here’s why- You can get the same weather by moving to the Panhandle. They are only around 5 degrees warmer on average compared to SC. Places like Pensacola, Destin, Santa Rosa Beach are good options. Plus property taxes are low and they do not tax pensions or SS. Plus there’s no state income tax. Plus you have 3 airports close by that you could fly into if you’re traveling a lot. Also if you want a house close to the beach, like within 6 blocks I think there’s more to choose from in the Panhandle. Just things to think about.
You made all good and valid points. Thanks for watching and commenting! Over the past few years the trend for retirees to move south to Florida. But there has been a significant shift in the number of phone calls and emails into our real estate office from people who are leaving Florida and moving to Myrtle Beach SC. The #1 complaint from Floridians moving out of Florida, is super high insurance costs or not being able to get insurance at all at any cost. #2 complaint from Floridians moving out of Florida, is they are tired of all the hurricanes. #3 complaint from Floridians moving out of Florida, is the ridiculous crazy traffic. I love Florida and have many family members who live there and I love visiting, but I appreciate all we have when I come back home to Myrtle Beach SC.
NC has more professional and especially STEM career opportunities. Raleigh, Durham & Chapel Hill is the most educated metro in the Carolinas and possibly the entire Southeast.
I found this super informational. Definitely gave a like and Sub. I am from (south) New Jersey near cape may and looking to the Carolina's. I still want a beach life but I also want to experience something different out of my comfort zone like mountains and from what I understand, nice people/neighbors. Im younger and hold position in the academia world so I'm looking to see where I would best fit. My daughter is 1 year old and I just dread her growing up here like I did.. I want her to have better. My fiance and I are planning a trip but have no idea where to start. We just know we are ready for a change!
I hear ya! That's the reason so many are moving to our area. Thanks for watching and commenting! If we can help and answer any of the questions you may have feel free to give us a call 843-839-9870
Cape May was a wonderful place to live in '73 and 74. I was stationed in the Coast Guard. I loved south Jersey. Of course I can't comment on Cape May now. There are awesome mountains in upstate NY, Vermont, New Hampshire, et.al. In some ways I think they are more beautiful and interesting than our NC mountains.
Raleigh NC is a very nice city! And is away from almost all hurricanes. Both NC and SC get hit with hurricanes on the coast. SC seems more laid backed, hotter in summer. Raleigh NC has landscaping more like PA not as a dessert feel as SC. I like NC.
Charlestown And Savannah will remind you of the beauty of Cape May NJ. Victorian ginger bread houses, beautiful Charlestown. But they got hit by a hurricane so if you don't mind the threat of hurricanes and leaving your house if one comes then it's a wonderful place to live. Outer banks are lovely but it gets hit once in a while also. Better to live in land and go to the coast for vacation.
I've been really enjoying your videos my wife and I have been really looking at ocala Florida we have been looking at the 55 plus community's for 5 years now a little concerned about the insurance issues going on right now so we are starting to look at the Caroline's would appreciate if you could recommend some of the 55 plus community's in those states 4 years to retirement thanks.

Well-put!
Really? LOL! I live in NC and it's a pit hole.
@@jkeelsnc most definitely! It was just the easiest way to describe the Carolinas.
Excellent!
@Sting Ray I was referring to a way of life. It is my opinion and I stand by it. Why don’t you go troll someone else.
My State!!
South Carolina’s beaches are the best! I love them. There’s also some mountains in the upstate. I love those too.
My state too ))
I’m from Mn. What is weather and crime like? Do you feel safe are people friendly? Traffic, rush hour?
You are enjoying the best of both. Awesome.
Ehh, I've had my ... experiences with myrtle Beach, can't stand it now and I live in south Carolina
1) Where are North Carolinas best "riding trails" of 100-200 mile runs...if they exist
2) A person making 65K and taking home 50K...where can they find a small house...then rent out a room to augment one's income close to #1's needs please?
As someone who is from NC and lived in SC… I would personally go back to NC.
Thanks for watching
My husband and I are moving to South Carolina because we like warmer weather and more sunshine 🌞 We are from northern Michigan it is very cold in the long winters and hardly any sun.
You will like it better in NC or SC, either one.
In my research, I agree........NC is better for jobs. Thanks for confirming.
South Carolina is a great place to live. Thanks for watching and commenting.

Entertaining story. You would get the same reaction here in Wisconsin. We don't like self important jerks here either!
Reminds me of an entitled Californian budging ahead in line at a restaurant in Dubois, Wyoming. He was much more bluntly kicked out on his rear
I love the carolinas! I could just so see this happening in my mind lol . hoping to move here in the Carolinas in a few years SC❤
Don't come to Florida you will go broke been here 23 years leaving for NC. Way too expensive and getting trashy
You are welcome! Just let us know when you are ready. :) See you in the next video!
Mid state to coast of sc you’ll barely get snow but are more prone to flooding cause it’s flatter. Greenville is a great city in top 10 places to go in US so a county close by is good choice imo
Outstanding! This Colorado resident is wanting to get out of this state. The Carolina's looks like a place to consider.
I looked at both and decided on Columbia SC, home prices, taxes, traffic and weather were deciding factors for me. I retired in SC
good luck w/ that. Columbia is a hot, swampy, crime-ridden hole w/ some very arrogant people. and the "Palmetto bugs"....**shiver**
Columbia? Why???????????? That place is hell.

Currently live in Western, Rochester NY. With all the political issues and high taxes we have set a date in fall 2022 to move south. Mainly leaning in the SC area: Greenville has been on our mind for a while but still open minded to the rest of the state
We moved to Greenville from MA. The people are ok, but if you are looking for a friendlier vibe look closer to the coast.

Disc golf courses everywhere!
Great video. Thank you.
Glad you liked it! Thank you for taking the time to comment and watch
The rent of housing is raising up year by year last year I was paying $1000 for month and this year I have to pay rent $1400 it’s crazy
im more into the beach areas.for people like me because of myrtle beach ,it has a larger area and much more to do while north carolina to me has the better smaller beaches.it all depends on what type beach u like.just one tip tho.carolina beach might be one to stay away from so far as vacationing but thats the only one i wouldnt recommend.
Excellent information! Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it! That's our goal to be helpful. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Yea raised in SC dont bring your kids here unless they wild and can fit in these people crazy Nc alot of suburbs
@@kidflash5163 Haha well my daughter will fit in fine and the other one isn't born till November so will have to find out 😂
Great video!
Thanks for watching!
I'm North Carolina born. The town of Pinehurst to be exact. It was designed by the same man that designed New York's Central Park.
And N.C. has the Research Triangle Park located ideally near the universities Duke, UNC, & NC State.
South Carolina has alligators in some places. And of course North Carolina has the
G.O.A.T., Michael Jordan.
Thanks for watching and commenting
Alligators too by the way.
A bit more about
Average seasonal temperatures and maybe dangerous animals as we have very few
Nice presentation, thank you!
Thanks for watching and sharing
We recently spent 10 days in each state driving hundreds of miles in each enjoyed both but I guess prefer North Carolina to relocate to
You forgot to mention Wake Forest, and East Carolina for College sports. Also we have AAA Baseball with the Durham Bulls.
Darling it’s not “Rally” it’s Rahlee.
Thanks for watching commenting ...and the pronunciation correction. :) Just the way I talk.
The coastal areas will be a little cooler compared to the further inland and you can get an idea if this is right for you. We are here whenever you are ready! We have a lot of super helpful info, to share, Just give us a call at 843-839-9870. Wishing you success with your grandchildren. Thanks again for watching and commenting!
My hubby and i just visited Myrtle beach for the 1st time ever a few weeks ago. we stayed in a condo on the beach. We just fell in love. Hubby is wanting to move now, we are in Ohio. I have always wanted to move that way but not on beach. we are now looking at options. The shipping company i work for has places in north Carolina so looking there. But i am not interested in city life. i like the calm and quite. Thanks for the video
Your welcome! If you ever decide to consider moving to Myrtle Beach, We have a lot of super helpful info to share with you. Give us a call when you are ready at 843-839-9870. Hope you are having a great day.
I've lived in both NC & SC. In my opinion, the folks in SC have more of a plantation mentality. I find Cary NC to be very progressive and a lovely place to live. It is a good blend of the North and South. Big differences between the two.
Any city with more population is more progressive than rural areas everywhere in the nation. Thanks for watching and commenting
People in SC are just friendlier.
@@jkeelsnc no other group whines about racism like african americans. i never hear this whining from dark indians.
Why did you describe my house... (not for sale)
Outstanding video and I think you made my choice! It’s SC close to Myrtle Beach! I am a disable Vet from the Bay Area. Would like to buy a second home and retire there. If you have any suggestions please let me know!
Thanks
Hal
Ok so can anyone give me their opinion about which Carolina state I should move to and why ?
PS: thank you for the RUclips video too! It helped me a lot!
Feel free to give us a call at 843-839-9870 and we can fill you in with a lot of details
We moved from NC since cooper taxes have gone up as has crime, gangs it’s changing not for the best
We have had many clients who have moved out of North Carolina to South Carolina. Thanks for sharing your story and for watching.
We are looking to move South to the Carolinas in a few years.
2 years we want to sell our house in NYS and come down to SC. Would like to stay 30-45 mins in land from the shore. I hope the price of real estate down there doesn’t go through the roof and prohibit us from coming down!
Home prices are increasing in SC especially Charleston
In my opinion, the absolute 2 most important things that you don't mention are politics and religion. Everything you talk about is important and I appreciate it, but in the times we're living in, I care WAY more about being in a highly Christian and conservative, patriotic place rather than what sports events might be going on.
Thank you for watching and commenting!
We are looking for a place to retire n not be house poor. Strapped by a large house payment while Uncle Sam is eating away at our retirement. SC sounds good to me bc we love the beach n warmer weather ❤
Thanks for watching. Did you see the video I did about that?

I am enjoying these videos. My husband and I are looking for a condo in the Myrtle Beach area. We are coming down in March to look at the different areas and options. Will be moving within the year, hopefully. These videos are very helpful. Not sure what to about the snakes, ick

What about hurricanes? Opinion/advice for future homeowners looking for that panhandle weather and palm trees?
More hurricane in panhandle!
NC has more professional and especially STEM career opportunities. Raleigh, Durham & Chapel Hill is the most educated metro in the Carolinas and possibly the entire Southeast.
I think of North Carolina as Tennessee with a beach and South Carolina as Georgia with a beach.
Georgia has an especially beautiful coast of its own, much of it protected and undeveloped.
Catherine Raymond
- hows living in the cape may area? i've always wondered. i'm from northern new jersey.
Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment and share your story.
