    Also can we talk about just how raw Geo's Megaman design is? His visor especially in darker setting really give him this sense of edge and made him standout from the rest of his counterparts yet still recognizable as Megaman. My absolute favorite out of all of them.

      We almost always play Starforce 3 Japense Version because it's the "most balanced" out of all the games in the franchise, also the most fun. A tournament just finished a week and a half ago and you can see some of the matches in my channel, along with a lot of other past matches I've had before, so feel free to check it out if you are interested!
      With melonds 1.0 getting a release soon, we'll also be able to play Megaman SFDX which is a rework of the original Megaman Starforce and the pvp for it looks like a lot of fun.
      Also Megaman Starforce 3 is getting a software called "Wingblade" which is being created by Sigma and this software basically gives Starforce 3 rollback, just like Tango did for Battle Network, we hope to also get the other titles done in the future too.
      For now, we are using MelonDS to play matches but with Wingblade hopefully coming out this year, we'll be moving to that.

For example, instead of having to use warrior soul for super armor or having taurus as your main noise, you can get it in your NKG, you can get different charge shots, card heal, extra HP, bodies, etc. Which makes it more fair for everyone compared to the US version which cut that out. You can easily find the noise card list online to see all the things you can do with them, the effects also work like poker hands, so a full house gives you an extra benefit on top of all the noise cards, etc.

    On the subject of Gameplay, Star Force is a lot more reaction and action focused, whereas BN is more about setplay and strategy
    BN has a bunch more depth by comparison, but the sheer adrenaline of comboing counter-hits in StarForce to then get more chips and keep the stunlock going with proper timing feels a lot more rewarding than FullSynchro in BN if you ask me

    I love these games! They may seem more detached from the other Mega Man games, but that just makes them the most creative. Plus, I'd argue that Legends is just as different if not more so (seeing as it doesn't even share gameplay elements with other Mega Man titles). That said, StarForce does have an enemy type (Met) that is included in every other Mega Man series, so that's another connection aside from the name.
    I would say that the battle system of StarForce, limited as it is, forces you to think defensively and focus on timing your attacks. Sure, it's not as complicated as Battle Network, but that just makes you strategize in a different way. Plus, the 3D battles look and feel awesome.
    I totally understand what you mean about StarForce 2's plot. I also thought it was lackluster at first, but after playing it multiple times, it eventually grew on me. Plus, Rogue is an awesome character, and the OOPArts were a ton of fun to use!
    Lastly, let's look at the facts: We've had Legacy Collections for all of the traditional Mega Man platformers. After that, it was anyone's guess whether or not they'd go on to the RPGs, but they did! In my opinion, the Battle Network Legacy Collection's mere existence seems to hint that Capcom plans to go all the way! Next would obviously be StarForce (because they'd follow one RPG with another), then would come Legends. I think this is a strategic play to both introduce new fans to the entire Mega Man franchise and keep Mega Man fans appeased while they work on the new Mega Man game that's supposedly in development. After all the series have their own collections, then they'll probably start revealing things for the new game. I see a bright future for Mega Man!

    I think the battle system, while not as deep or wide, has some uniquely cool aspects to it, that you can only forwardly dodge with MegaAttack, or AreaEater in 3 being a different take on AreaSteal. The shield as a basic move, the wait to charge, hold to rapid fire, I always felt the grid of BN meant it wound up feeling a little sticky when you needed to go diagonal but SF being 3 panels doesn't have this.
    And I really like the models and the enemy movesets. MoonDestroyer, DarkPhantom, Rogue and especially his phase 2 in SF2, and Diamond Ice come to mind. The entire Diamond Ice part of 3 was brilliant, just wish freezing in her stage did damage to you. And the locales more than BN's, yes, even 2's locales. Bit more cultural sensitivity could've been nice, mind... Course, I haven't played most BNs, the ones I have not in a long while, gonna get the collection, just when it's cheaper and I'm a little richer.

    • @inktendo

      Whoa, I absolutely agree with everything you said! I still prefer the BN combat because you have a little more freedom, but the creative ways the team behind SF managed to make combat interesting on its limitations is amazing!

It was a magical adventure and filled with heartfelt story. It makes me cries at the credit and Sonia became the number 1 waifu of all time. On retrospective, it is actually more surprising to me that most people don't like Starforce 2.
    I have known Megaman franchise from BN anime showing in TV, but it didn't click with me. Which is kind of weird, since BN is more well-loved. The only reason I can possibly think of must be that Geo the protagonist being relatable to me and the series appeared at the right time in my teenage period.

    Funnily you undersold Geo's backstory pretty hard.
    His dad didn't just *disappear from the space station*
    It was fucking purged! His father was perceived as DEAD along with THE REST OF THE CREW
    Geo's backstory was basically the fucking Challenger incident and his dad was on board!
    If starforce 3 was never released, we wouldn't get that dopamine of his dad being alive, we would have had to kick rocks and say "damn... he really IS dead, huh?"
    I can't imagine how every OTHER family whose loved ones were a victim of the space station incident. Afterall, Kelvin Stelar wasn't ALONE on there. Megaman starforce is surprisingly dark!

    They're called Battle Cards in Star Force. I mean, they are pretty much the same thing, but still.
    There were actually plans to make a Star Force 4, but it got canceled. There's a petition out there to start it back up, though.
    The fact they're DS games is no big deal. They can do the same thing they did for the Mega Man Zero/ZX Collection (The ZX series is also a DS series).

    • @inktendo
      @inktendo  Год назад

      That's true, Battle Chips are only for Battle Network and I messed that up.
      The problem for them being DS games is that the first game relies heavily on the touch screen, to jack in and solve puzzles which the ZX series did not.
      But the DX patch kinda already solved these issues so we just have to wait and see

    • @BurstFlare
      @BurstFlare Год назад

      @@inktendo Again, they can just do what the Megaman Zero/ZX Collection did, since the ZX games were *also* DS games that used the touch screen. And the DX patch is fan-made, so I doubt they'd go that route.

They got rid of the pesky code system farming codes was the worst! I do feel the more limited movement makes the game feel more tense. I however didn't like them changing the buster in 3. I liked having mega's head as an buster was cool. In defense of 2 the story was mid but 1's story is a hard act to follow. I often replay 2 because to combat feel like a perfected 1. I do like them turning the normal areas into the dungeons instead of the previous format it felt more natural. Then there's the sky wave even I'm not going to defend that one. • @rogue1248

      imo i think the basis for these is that in BN, the battle field is played out like this because your looking at the Operator's perspective (ergo Lan) and can see how the battle is playing out. SF does this differently. Since the human is the one actively fighting, you get to see HIS perspective so you get immersed in the multiple attacks that come geo's way.
