I run a g48 as my edc because it truly is a perfect fit for me in all senses of the word, my only drawback was the 10 round mag, and the moment shield released their s15 mag, I got myself 4 of them, and it elevated my g48 to near perfect status. I ran g19’s and g22’s as duty weapons both in my time with the Army and my time as a contractor overseas, when I transitioned to civilian, I kept my g19 as my edc, but found the g48 to be a hell of a lot more easier and comfortable to conceal.

@@arturopuebla4924 tbh for someone like myself that’s heavily into fitness and like to wear tight clothes, no, the g19 is really bulky and prints like crazy. I do edc it here and there when I’m wearing baggier clothes, hoodies, jackets, but other than that, I run my g48 mos.

After 35 years and thousands of rounds through various Glock pistols, the Glock platform is my go-to defensive carry firearm. I love firearms of many types so not a "fanboy". But for serious purposes my experience has always brought me back to one Glosck or another over the years. NEVER had a mag related malfunction with stock Glock mags. I had high hopes for the S15 mags. On paper, they sound great after all. However, after a couple of mag related malfunctions with the S15 mags I'm a HARD no-go with them. And while the capacity advantage of the Shield mags looks awesome on paper, ANY decrease in reliability of my defensive firearms is unacceptable. I paid way too much for two S15 mags that are now just paperweights. Fine for range use, but who needs expensive mags for range use?? Good for stoppage clearance drills I suppose... 🤷‍♀ I'd NEVER trust my life to ANY aftermarket Glock mag. Magazines are the heart of any semiautomatic firearm. Factory Glock mags are the most reliable I have ever used in any firearm in well over 45 years of shooting. In my experience, deviating from a proven design for unnecessary capacity considerations is just not worth it.

I know it's a bit late to comment on this and you may already be well aware, but apparently if you're using the 15 round mags you're supposed to swap out the mag release to the metal on they sell so that it catches better. It says on the website that the metal mags aren't meant to be used with the polymer mag release.

Where other people criticise Glock I think they're smart. People have no idea what it would take for Glock to change the way they make mags. It would take a huge initial cost to change so they could mass produce. On the other hand a company like Shield Arms already held the patent for this style of mag. They were working on a Glock 43 mag when Glock released the 43x/48. When these were released Shield Arms shifted their focus to the 43x/48. The Shield Arms S15 was literally selling the 43x/48 for Glock to the point that you couldn't even find them for a while. Glock had to do nothing but produce guns the same way they always have. People always bitch about little innovation by Glock but the Glocks continue to sell. That's why they don't need to change. The aftermarket does it for them and Glock just keeps rolling in the money.

Or they could just be smart and contract MecGar to make the mags. Problem solved.

My G48 has the silver slide the G43X the black slide cause that’s all that was available at the time when I purchased them . I conceal carry I can can bet the farm the person I hope I never have to use the firearm against isn’t gonna care at all what color my slide is .

And they still run flawlessly, which leads them to outsell just about everything else. I see no issue here even if your statement was true. The fact is they've iteratively improved upon a nearly perfect core design to bring further functionality to a platform that is relied upon the world over while remaining cost effective and competitively priced. Haters gonna hate, but everybody chooses Glock when it's time to operate.

My only gripe with the shield arms mags is with mine if I breathe too hard the goddamn mags fall out of the gun. I've never accidentally dropped a mag on a draw, but these s15s fall out so easily when you hit the release it makes me feel paranoid. Not enough material contacting the release. And yes I have the shield metal release.
