      DW is about 60x bigger than DL. 30,000 acres vs 500. 25 resorts vs 3. DW is literally a city with it's own expressway system. Even the castle in just the 1 of 4 parks is scaled up about 5x bigger.

      Just to be clear. Disney World was Disneyland East, is all. It’s now called the Magic Kingdom and is basically exactly the same as Disneyland. If you want to use the other parks you’ll pay extra for that. And of course resorts are mostly just for people who room there. I went to “Disney World” several times from ‘76 (in Bicentennial parade) to about ‘88., including Epcot Center. When we went in ‘17 this huge metropolis had popped up by then. Shocking. But back when, only “DW” (MK) and Epcot existed, period.

      If you don’t want to return to any Disney Parks ever again that’s ok, it’s your choice, and I honestly don’t blame you; but I feel like you’re missing something about this video.
      This video is just a regular ride-through of the PeopleMover with the bonus of Space Mountain with the lights on; it is not propaganda material that’s trying to expose Disney about “what the rides are truly like” in any way.

    • @GrandpaSergio
      @GrandpaSergio 7 месяцев назад +5

      I didn't intend my comment to come off that way. It's just that the quality of the rides themselves have seemingly degraded over the years. • @InimicalWit
      @InimicalWit 6 месяцев назад +1

      @@SmaaaaaashI wasn’t limiting their remark to only this ride. They can offer correction, but I believe they were referring to an overall decline - which can have examples both for and against.
      I still love Disney and I go when I can; but it’s a position I also hold:
      Perhaps I’m just an adult, but the quality of some of the rides has seemed lower.
      I will name The Little Mermaid, as it was when I last rode. Perhaps they had the lights too high that day on purpose (as they sometimes do with Space Mountain) but I felt the rides in Old Town Disney had much better quality than The Little Mermaid. Yes, I’m a fan of TLM. I’m not hating on something I “already dislike”. (Putting up shields for the kinds of accusations I see from people who don’t want to believe me or don’t want to accept my testimony.) I was excited to view the ride based on a childhood movie.
      Cars was a fantastic ride. That ride *absolutely* rose to the level I expect from Disney.
      It’s A Small World has also been poorly maintained (as of my last visit). There’s a stigma around Small World, has been for ages, but the quality of the ride being low … would only contribute to people’s poor opinion of it.
      The fact that all the countries on Earth are all singing in English… indicates they missed the mark on logistics. In fact, if you look up the lyrics in different languages (I’ll site Japanese), even the lyrics are more interesting in other languages. Is this ride’s problem a newer issue? It sure isn’t.
      Sekai wa hitotsu - the world is singular
      Sekai wa marui - The world goes round
      Sekai wa onaji - The world is the same
      Tada hitotsu - We are one
      I tell ya, *so* much better than hearing “It’s a Small World, After All” ad infinitum. Imagine going through that ride and *knowing* languages other than English, and feeling represented when the boat gets to the country of your heritage. 💙 (Last I rode, they were also *severely* over-packing the ride. Boats were not floating from one room to the next in a leisurely fashion. Boats were jammed up next to each other and barely progressed, constantly clunking against one another as they tried to flow with the water, but couldn’t, *because the ride was over packed*.)
      The People Mover was this awesome ride through and behind some scenes. Such a ride would spoil a little bit of the magic - but this ride and what it revealed were part of my childhood 🥰💙

    • @Smaaaaaash
      @Smaaaaaash 6 месяцев назад

      @@InimicalWit For sure visiting the same attractions as an adult isn't going to give you the same reaction as a child. You subconsciously see through the 'magic' more as an adult and that will make everything seem less impressive. Plus, some of their new rides with newer technology will naturally make the older rides feel a lot older in comparison.
      The second half of your response confuses me. Are you implying that It's A Small World is sung in English all the way through? I assure you that's not the case. Hearing the song sung in different languages as you progress through the countries is exactly what happens?

      Disneyland changed the People Mover to be a high-speed system that stressed the track and ruined it. It shortened the life of the ride. For some reason Disney Engineering thought it was a good idea to re-engineer the ride in that manner. They messed it up and made it unfeasible to spend the money to re-engineer it back to the original concept. So, they closed it. Disney World never did this, so it still operates as originally intended.

      You can bet it was higher ups that wanted the people mover turned into something fast paced and exciting. I'm sure most engineers would have saw the problem long before it got changed.
      It's unlikely the People Mover in Disneyland will ever return the same way it was. For one, it would need all new supports (and probably layout, too) plus new safety requirements would likely require new cars to have a lap bar, similar to the haunted mansion.

      @@junetrooper Space Mountain needs to dispatch trains every 30 seconds or so, otherwise the queue of trains waiting to unload will back up onto the track. If this happens, each successive block zone will not be able to clear its train before the next one arrives, causing the train to stop in the brakes, which causes the NEXT train to stop in the NEXT set of brakes, and so on until the entire ride is clogged. When this happens, they need to manually release each train, which involves turning on the lights and going onto each brake platform to push some buttons.

    This is probably the most boring ride I’ve ever seen. I’m perfectly okay with the speed, but there is very little that is interesting to see.

    The most LAME thing I’ve ever seen. Disney is so out of touch. This looks so dated and just plain stupid.

      Tomorrowland is supposed to be like a retro futuristic vibe and the people mover is supposed to be a relaxing tour. I personally love it.
