I think it adds to the value of that Nolan Ryan card that Ryan himself added the no hitter, strikeout, and wins totals. It’s so much more than just a signature.
As you were moving the Ruth/Gehrig card around I thought I noticed a scratch or crease at the bottom running almost between the K and E in Yankees. Hopefully it was just a scratch on the top loader.
I payed more for a card due to their error, I bought a Pokémon card a few years back with a pop 28 It was a no brainer, now they fixed it and it’s a pop 20,000 It’s actually worth a lot less than I payed… Thank you PSA
Chris: Message PSA and let them know they incorrectly labeled your cards. They'll ask you to send photos of them and will then determine if they did in fact label them incorrectly. If they agree they did, they will send you a shipping label so you can send them back for new labeling/slabbing, all at their expense. I've sent 2 back, in the past, with no out of pocket money on my part.
I don’t think that’s the case. I bought a card that was mislabeled with the wrong card number (was correct otherwise) and they did it at no cost whatsoever.
Chris, I bought a slab with an error in the flip and PSA reslabbed it for free, even though I wasn’t the original submitter. This was a few years ago, but I assume that’s still the policy.
Beautiful Aaron card. I can't tell, of course, but it looks like the top left corner has a very slight tip, but, holding the card, that might not be the case. If you think PSA would grade it an eight with a chance of a nine, I'd crack and submit it to PSA. If I'm wrong about that corner, then there's very little chance they'd give it less than an eight, so pretty much all upside after that.
If PSA make a labelling error, why is the customer on the hook for THEIR mistakes? That's odd! Wishing you and your family a safe, healthy, and prosperous New Year, Chris... as well as all viewers. 🥳🎉
Joe Burrow balled out today. Broncos-Bengals was a super entertaining game, but still go Ravens :] Caitlin Clark had a great rookie season, but it also helps having the media machine behind her, though I wouldn't feel confident with the WNBA future long-term. But maybe she will have amazing collect ability. We shall see! What is cool; however, it could help increase seeing young girls and women enter the hobby. Less of a sausage fest Lol. Would keep the Aaron in an 8. Cross-over to PSA is fine.
The Aaron card is awesome. If you look at the left white border near the top compared to the righ white border, it is slightly off-centered, almost like the picture is slightly angled.
I would not risk cracking the Aaron and just do the crossover or review. I believe Clark does have staying power in the hobby and I agree with you that in her case her first cards in college will have the premium. Some awesome cards!
I purchased a Jalen Williams PSA 10 Rookie Silver Prizm that was labeled as a base. The seller had it in the title and it was ~$20 lower than comps. I was able to send it to PSA to get it relabeled for free and free shipping from PSA
RE: The Gasol mislabel, PSA relabeled a few incorrect slabs for me for free at the National. I dropped them off the first day and picked them up the last day.
If PSA mislabeled a card they do not charge to resubmit/fix it. They will send you a prepaid shipping label and cover all shipping costs. Though you do need to be a PSA member for this.
Sucks that PSA charges you to fix their own mistake. Should definitely be free to fix. They could theoretically intentionally repeatedly mislabel high value cards that cost a lot to grade knowing they'll get paid to grade it over and over until they do it correctly.
As many have mentioned, cracking the '62 Aaron is super risky. PSA might give it a 6. Also, I know that you're a Ripken collector but maybe keep it for your PC?
thx for sharing!!! I hate when people grade the auto and not the card... At least authenticate the card!! i mean the extra like $25 is so worth it to collectors - instead of it saying Trading Card.... They should outlaw it on cards lol!
@@matthewcook2097 100% agree with you. To me, I like both graded, even if it’s a low grade, doesn’t matter, I want both graded for whatever reason. Just looks correct in my opinion with the in person auto’s.
The blue Caitlin Clark card was a target of mine early this year. I bid and lost on several of these. I had to take it off of my list because it got too expensive and they only started showing up graded. You showing it off kind of makes me interested again. I have purchased a lot of CC cards. The main reason I have collected her is because I also grew up in Des Moines and went to Iowa. Unlike you, I am not an investor or dealer, so I will keep the majority of what I bought, probably forever. At least the ones I really like, which is most of them. I wasn’t sure if her popularity would sustain, but as time goes on I think it will. She continues to grow in popularity. The ticket prices for her games next year are already higher than last year. The retirement of her jersey at Iowa game is already at out of sight prices. I would eventually like to get the blue auto card, but I would want it raw. I almost was going to ask if you would sell it raw, then I heard your comment about grading and holding it. Good luck on the investment here! Thanks for all of your videos!!!! I always find your content worth the watching, educational, and entertaining.
beautiful Aaron card. my thoughts coming from a place of limited experience - 1) I sent SGC 3 '62 cards that I thought would get a 6, an 8, and an 8. All 3 cards had incredible edges and corners. It was a Gaylord that I thought would get the 6. It was OC and got a 5. 😞 The other 2 cards both got 7s. 😞and 😞 so SGC might be a little too tough on 62s. my other thought is that if you were to sell it, you'd get more for it than any other 8 that has sold recently because ppl usually seem willing to pay up a little bit despite the grade assigned to the card. idk about the diff between an 8 and 9 for a huge card like that one if that necessarily holds true but for lower grades it definitely does. great cards! ty for sharing!
@@collectorinvestordealer Oh OK. I couldn't see it, I just went with what you called it. Still, a very recent PSA 5, with a "tiny little crease" seems pretty generous! I have cards with 4 and 5 grades that I can't see WTF is wrong. Ultra-magnification and special lights reveal things, I guess. It's nice to have the ump call you "safe" once in awhile.
I think I would resub all these for different reasons tbh. Corrections of slab errors are free, the Ryan needs to be validated as real, the 8 will crossover well, the Clark and Ruth/Gehrig need grades, you could "improve" that crease on the Cal without modifying it imho.
I think it's wrong that you have to pay for PSA mistakes! They should fix it for free. They should pay shipping as well in my opinion. Great cards nonetheless! Thanks Chris! Happy New Year!
I haven’t personally sent in an in person auto to PSA. Do you simply send the card or can you/do you also send proof of the signature if you have something available? I’ve always been curious about this.
I've never sent anything for grading, but I'm pretty sure you don't have to submit any kind of 'proof'. I've always been curious how they can authentic so many different signatures (must be 10's of thousands of different players signatures from different sports/eras). Surely PSA doesn't employ more than a handful of signature experts. Also, there's so many different labeling options. Like, if a card is graded 8 with an auto grade of 10, the auto isn't necessarily authenticated. It could be Joe Schmo's forged signature that graded a 10.
You just said something I been wondering about can you submit a card to psa in another company's case an how will psa treat that. Would they be scared to go up or down from a competitors grade. Just something I was curious about
Chris; That last card of Aaron had your audience druelimg! On the cards mislabeled from PSA, I’d try calling them and tell them that THEY mislabeled the card and you want it fixed. Knowing those weasels from PSA they’d probably just blow you off but if you can save $100-$150 in relabeling fees it’s worth the try!
Obviously you would know before I would, but my call on that back of the relic card is that they just did a poor job on it and they are all like that. The images and the arch seem centered. Whoever added the lettering just started too far to the right. Edit: well the arch too.
Hi, man. I am new to card selling. What is a good way to sell my old cards? I have a collection of sports cards (NBA, NFL, MLB, NHL) mostly from late 80s-mid 90s. Most in good condition. I have a few older cards, rookies, etc. that are probably worth something. I have looked into values online and find wide range of potential values. I don't really like eBay, online selling. There are a few shops in town that buy cards. Does online selling typically yield higher sell value, or, do brick and mortar shops? I would prefer brick and mortar, yet, my guess is online will be higher sell value.
You will make a lot more selling on ebay than selling to a brick and mortar store, but selling on ebay will take a lot of your time and require a good bit of knowledge/expertise. So that is a decision for you to weigh for yourself.
Personally id leave the Aaron as is or possibly do the review. The value difference is small enough to where cracking is risky and crossing is also a risk. Besides we really need to quit feeding into the psa hype, especially on Vintage. Sgc is by far the better grader and that market is catching up to psam
So many mistakes by PSA. I thought there was a quality control process where more than 1 person looks to verify everything is correct ? I guess not. Maybe they don’t make enough money so their quality control sucks 😂
