Lyrics:
Once in the dear dark days beyond recall
When on the earth a mists began to fall
Out of the dreams that rose in happy throng
Still to our hearts love sung an old sweet song
And in the dusk where fell the firelight gleam
Softly it wove itself into our dream
Just at song at twilight, when the lights are low
When the flick'ring shadows softly come and go
Tho' the heart be weary, sad the day and long
Still to us at twilight comes love's old song
Comes Love's old sweet song
Even today we hear the songs of yore
Deep in our heart it dwells forevermore
Footsteps may falter weary grow the way
Still we can hear it at the close of day
So till the end when life's dim shadows fall
Love will be found the sweetest song of all
Just a song at twilight, when the lights are low
When the flick'ring shadows softly come and go
Tho' the heart be weary, sad the day and long
Still to us at twilight comes love's old song
Comes Love's old sweet song
Beautiful and wrenching- trio reminds me of the Irish soul.
An all time favourite melody and stirring lyrics. Thanks for sharing
I imagine a warm summer night, this song and dreaming, dreaming.... and at least all is okay..... for a little time! Thank you wonderful Irish Tenors!👍❤️
❤❤❤❤Beutifully sung. Truly music transcends time ❤❤❤❤❤
When I was a young boy my maternal grandparents, Leon and Mildred McGinnis would sing this together on the farm in Vermont. Thank you for posting this!
Yes, I remember this song from my childhood in the late 1940's. It's a very peaceful time when the sky is a soft lavender and the trees are dark and shilouetted. Children are put to bed early when there is still Summer daylight
Hi Mike , my grandmother in Cork sang this ,John,s version moved me to tears
Undescribable in words..I LOVE IRELAND
Ted Garren well said Ted best wishes from eire
Most beautiful. I have the Irish Tenors' CDs. My dear late mother liked their music too. We're Irish by birth right. My sister was born on St Patrick's Day. JMJ
my dad,s old time favourite yet never tooooo old to fade!!!!
My personal favorite Irish Tenors song.
John was so nervous when he first came out but you can see him start to loosen up and get into the music. Loved this song as well.
T'was also my Mom's favorite. Don't know whether I can pick just one - they all strike one or several chords in my heart!
Wonderfull
What a beautiful blend of voices. Great as usual guys!!!!
I love this song, and as always, the irish tenors sing it beautifully!
Very masterfully orchestrated.
ULYSSES BROUGHT ME HERE.....

Disappointed. What’s the point of three voices singing in unison? Could hear that anywhere. The gold was missing. No harmony.

irish tenors he scottish
+danny maguire John McDermott was born in Scotland, but his parents were from Ireland. He has 100% Irish heritage.
Thank you laddie for telling us aboot young MCDermott! A grand wee laddie he is! I hear that he likes a wee drop o' Bailey's Irish Cream
once in a wee while. Och, aye the noooooooo.
@@DermottStudio it's my understanding he actually grew up in Canada, at least that's where he was living when he was discovered by the music industry. His wife is of Polish heritage, although I do not know if she was actually born in Poland.
Lovely old song spoiled by somewhat mediocre singing.
Can you do better???? I think NOT..
Agreed Aileen.
@@karenstrock4470 hardly the point is it, it is nothing special.
Can't believe why people think this is good singing. McDemott is a good singer with nice vocal texture. But he is more a baritone than tenor in his natural pitch, and the other two drown him out when they sing together. Anthony Kearns is mediocre at best, but at least he has a clear voice. But the third guy is simply awful. He sings like the words are stuck in his throat. And he does not appreciate that singing is to communicate emotions to the audience, not choke up on your own singing.
well i'm no expert but totally agree. I can't name the technicalities, just trust my ears.
The middle one is the most obviously substandard one.
@@ABC_DEF If you mean Anthony Kearns (standing in the middle), you are wrong. The guy with glasses is by far the worst for reasons I have already said.
