That guy who threw it instead of taking a TO will remember that for the rest of his life 😢
For real bro
Just ask Chris Webber.
Reverse Chris Webber.
na - it will fade as did his throw! There is a lot more coming up that will make basketball worthless...
Madness in March
Can we give credit to Garrett Hein as well? He made two clutch free throws, stole the ball, and passed the ball to Pegues.
And was in position for rebound in case Pegues had missed!
The Virginia player who was close to 80% missed one out of two, and Hein made both as a 50% FT shooter. Biggest FTs of his life! If it were the other way around as percentages would go, Furman likely doesn't win. Amazing finish!
yea the announcers were talking way too much about strategy there, van gundy just killing the suspense of a 50% shooter on the line needing both
Virginia always gives us memorable first round games.
I didn't want Virginia to win, but honestly, that block at the end was clean. They got robbed !!!

Lost in all this is Garrett Hien, a 51% FT shooter, making both shots with 12 seconds to go.
And he assisted what would be the dagger three pointer
And the steal and assist!
Furman's execution of that trap was absolute poetry in motion. The shot was huge, but that trap though.....
I agree. 5-10 guy up against 6-7 guys trapped in the corner. Not a good situation .
The trap wasn’t even that well executed. Number 0 just made a bad decision.
Thing is the guy Clark got it in inbounds clean the person he initially passes it too could have taken the trap better as he's a bit taller but he passed it right back to him putting him in a worse situation.
dude was open on the far side after guys shifted middle.. 1 dirbble to center of key bounce and it's broken
@@sketched9069 It was well executed because bigger defenders were coming at him. He did have an outlet to the guy who originally passed him the ball but he panicked with those big defenders.
Talk about throwing the game away. This brings a whole new meaning to that saying.
This is why March Madness is the best sporting event in the world. So many last-second shockers and upset wins. I love it.
I was at the game in the Furman section and they were never really out of the game, even when they were down by 12. They just kept clawing back even if shots weren't going their way. Just kept clawing, but played solid defense throughout. #13 for Furman, Garrett Hien was PIVOTAL and that dude played with so much heart. It was a great game to see in person. And that's how I spent my birthday. I'll have that memory forever!
@Brief Keef LOL no it wasn't. What if he takes a 5 second call? Wht if he gets fould and misses his FT's? BS post.
Congratulations! I have some memories like that, but as a Michigan State Fan, they get to be fewer... because we are spoiled. My head is proud, but anything less than a Final Four makes my heart a bit disappointed. There is nothing more fun than seeing a team and its fans who have waited so long just to GET to the NCAA have a finish like this. Good luck in the first round - I recall when MSU was highly seeded and facing low seeded Butler one year - everyone expected a blowout - but they won, and went to the Championship game, where they lost - but still, you never know - maybe there's a banner in your future.
@Brief Keef March Madness. It's in the name.
Since Furman got annihilated two days later, this "victory" is ultimately meaningless.
Furman was going to be a great story no matter what; ending the 43-year drought after nearly getting knocked off in the SoCon semifinals by Western Carolina, but this elevates them to an all-time classic March Madness moment that will be talked about forever. Great for those kids.
That pass right to the furman guy 💀

@@slylockfox85 because the final play matters the most.
@@slylockfox85 the same guy who turned it over missed the free throw
@@j.r3303 he also stepped on the line when he inbounded the ball at the end
Shout out to the 50% free throw shooter who made both of his free throws right before the shot to make that a game winning three.
And stole the ball!
" you won't remember all the wins. But, you will always remember the bad loss. " The GOAT Nick Saban
Wow, the Madness has started. I agree with all the people saying you had a time-out or you let them foul you by trying to tie you up. Great shot by Furman, seemed like that crazy play where Celtics Bird steals the ball from the Pistons in the last seconds and passes to Dennis Johnson for the layout.
Kevin Harlan makes this a GOAT moment with his call
That man has the GOAT voice of broadcasting. Every game is spectacular when he calls it
You can see way at the bottom at 2;19 when he throws his fists up
Really awesome. JP Pegues is a Furman Legend. What was really cool too is that he was the first person to shake as many hands as he could with the Virginia players/staff as soon as the game ended. Respect congrats Furman!
Yep, pure CLASS!
Furman is gonna be eating a lot of churros after that win. I had to 🤣

@@AccentShmaccent college of liberal arts and social sciences
@@AccentShmaccent not hard to show class in that situation. If he had missed that shot he might have been lying on the floor with his jersey pulled over his head. The outcome of situations determine how one responds to them. The kid spoke like a nice kid when interviewed but shaking hands win or lose is proper decorum at the end of a game. So making a big deal about hand shaking at the end of a game is not warranted. Over exuberance might be misconstrued as "rubbing" it in to some. But then again I might have acted the same way if this was the biggest win in my collegiate career. Congratulations Furman. You have joined the ranks of MBC, Ohio, Chaminade and even Gonzaga many years ago.
I could watch this a thousand times. What a shot!
Huge props to Mr pegues. & what an inspired and beautiful postgame, man!
I feel bad for Kihei he's one of my favorite college players, that being said I'm not really too mad since I had Furman winning this game lol
Pegues' post-game interview is inspiring. Love the confidence.
If y’all don’t remember, furman had the same exact looks on their faces as Virginia in their conference final last season when Jean baptiste made that crazy game winner for Chattanooga. It all comes full circle, they deserved this
Life's funny like that
At least Virginia can say that this game was close unlike the UMBC game from a few years earlier.
Great play-by-play calls from Harlan & Van Gundy! They made this more of a classic!
I literally just watched the video and my reaction was wow how could you lose that
Welcome back to the dance Furman! Bust them brackets
Two teammates were wide open, pass to either one and Virginia moves on. He's going to replay those last seconds in his mind for a long time.
Easy for you to say when you are watching the game from a higher angle. Now try to say that from his POV when he has two big bodies in front of him. He likely couldn't see them at all.
Oh yeah pass to them and you’ll get a 10 second backcourt violation
They have one time out no? Why in the world he just thow it up like that…no excuse what so ever
He should had called a time out.
@chriskay1449 - It's ok. They'll come back next year and win it all again right? 😊

Every March Madness needs a nice 1st round “GOOOOOOOOOD!” from Kevin Harlan.

For 43 years, Furman University had never been in the NCAA Tournament until a 3-pointer by JP Pegues led the 13th seeded Paladins to a 68-67 shocker over the Virginia Cavaliers & will meet the Aztecs of San Diego State in the 2nd round.
And then they call a time-out. Truly madness....
Clark had one of the most memorable passes for UVA when they won it all, and now has another memorable pass on his resume 🤦♂️ Past time for the Clark era to end
March Madness is better than the NBA finals
God I love March Madness
JP with that legendary post game interview 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Could’ve easily passed it to #2 or #11…maybe even #4, but come on, that was completely unnecessary to pass the ball half way down the court. Because of that, Virginia has now lost as a 1 seed once and a 4 seed twice, all happening in 3/4 most recent tournaments.
What did they do in the other tournament in the past 4?
@@yokumjor won it all
It definitely wasn't easily. That's why they trapped. Very easy to play the coulda game but that's a tough situation
Clark did the worst thing possibly. Even if you would of handed to the players trapping him; Furman would of just scored a 2 pointer.
This is now history. 🔥💪
When that last 3-pointer went in the guy who looked the most surprised was the guy who shot it! 😂
Props to the guy who picked Shedrick up and stood by him all the way.

Great interview at the end
Furman, representing South Carolina!!!
Young man unfortunately choked the game away in the final :20. Make BOTH those FTs and it's a wrap. He allowed himself to get trapped by picking up his dribble on the double-team...any PG knows to always keep moving forward with the dribble until you are sure you are going to pass the ball. That trap was beautifully executed, and in a perfect spot in the corner, taking away his manuverable options....all arms and legs in front of you, out-of-bounds everywhere else.
Plus they had a time-out..
If he made both those free throws and the rest of the game played out the same the game would have gone into overtime.
What March is all about!
UVA is a soccer and lacrosse school. No shocker
Does anyone remember Virginia winning the national title in 2019? Nope. They will mostly be remembered for their first round losses.
