@@YChromosome99he was a good Underboss , perfect temper for a Underboss when he was mad & fighting in Mob Wars !!!!! Don't think any different!!!! He just wouldn't make a good Don but he's a perfect Underboss & half the reason Vito survived two assassination attempts over the years!!! Sonny is alot of the reason of why the Corleone's became the most powerful family!!!! Everyone did they're respectful jobs exactly when they needed to up until Carlo came up in the family!!!!!
Yeah Sonny wasn't a wild animal. But he could if it needed to be, he was never Don material Fredo was a goof. And Micheal didn't want this life and was not emotional or weak minded. He had the discipline and intelligence to look long term. I agree with others Sonny would have been a good under boss, enough freedom but had to answer to someone to keep him in check.
The slow transformation of Michael into Don, appears here, too. But I don't blame Coppola. Such good performances. Brilliant script. Excellence in every scene. So much beauty in every shot. I wouldn't know what to cut. I would have presented a 7 hour film.
This is twice now everyone thought Clemenza was the traitor. The other time was at Vito's funeral and Tom was surprised to see Tessio approach Michael with talks of peace with Barzini. Why was everyone always looking to have Clemenza whacked despite showing how committed he was to following every order he was given?
Clemenza has the soldiers and been around for a long time to run his own family well, the Corleone family knew this too. And the reason they thought it could be clemenza is because it was his guy Paulie that was missing that day and they put goofy fredo watching. So it was either Clemenza or Paulie that set up Vito Corleone. And the second time Clemenza was considered a traitor it is when the corelone family was perceived as weak. And being tessio and Clemenza had voiced their wanting to start their own families made it seem like he had motive to take out Micheal. The book is crazy detailed.
I think they should have kept the scene 🎬 since it showed Clemenza was initially out of the circle of trust since Sonny didn’t know if he was traitor. After Sonny got the phone call and found out Paulie was the traitor Clemenza was back in Sonny’s circle of trust. It also made Tom’s comment at Vito’s funeral more meaningful when he told Michael he thought Clemenza was the traitor vs Tess. This clip showed the family initially had more confidence in Tess’ loyalty to the family compared to Clemenza because Tess was in the room with Sonny to figure out their next steps after Vito was shot.
I agree they should have kept this scene. But at the funeral it could have been either Tessio or Clemenza because of how long they have been around . They both could have run a family on their own. I think Tessio is there because the hit in Vito was on Clemenza's watch. It was his guy that called in sick. So it was either Clemenza or Paulie.
I agree. The cold-hearted ruthless Michael starts to emerge. Notice too, the camera angle Coppola uses when he's advising Sonny. A moment before, Sonny was talking down to Michael. But a second later, Michael is looking down on Sonny, showing he's wiser by telling Sonny not to act rashly and wait until he has a chance to talk to the father. Beautifully directed.
I agree 💯. Those were great scenes that hi lighted Sonnys strengths.. The movie really does an injustice to Sonny. James Caan brought Sonny to life and got the shaft in my opinion
Imagine Vito , Sonny , Michael , Tom , Clemeza , Tessio , Nero & Luca all working under the same roof!!!! This dynasty would be so untouchable for eternity!!!!! Time & particular characters placement was literally the only downfall of the family!!!! Its funny cuz even tho Vito was shot for a second time during this scene & time era , they were still at the height of their power as what Frankie ment by "The Roman Empire" they really didn't need Michael , he ultimately destroyed the family in the end even though he helps save it in this period , they didn't need him to save it , all they needed was Vito well & with Sonny & Tom & the two Capos underneath , they would have made it thru just fine without Michael!!!!! Sonny was a war time don , not a peacetime one like Vito , Sonny actually saved the family years before this when he went to war with the other families & his father got shot the first time years before all of this & the family actually became even more powerful after that becuase ot Sonny being hot-headed even more than it was a powerful family after Michael took over & eventually blocked everyone out of it other than himself & his Capo Nero!!!!
It's amazing how much seeing these deleted scenes shows you just how much the final cut was masterful. None of this was needed, in fact it would have made it worse.
I think they should have added the scene since it showed Clemenza almost got killed. He was forced to wait out outside until Sonny got the phone call to find out Paulie was traitor. After the call he is able to come into the room with Sonny, Tess, and Michael to figure out their next move. It also made sense why Clemenza killed Paulie and made Tess betrayal to Michael more meaningful because at Vito’s funeral Tom even thought Clemenza was the traitor…similar to Sonny when he had some doubts regarding Clemenza’s loyalty.
These cut scenes added too much unneeded depth. It added layers to Sonny which we didn't need to see as being the hot-head was something we already knew and it would lead to his demise. It also showed Michael beginning his transformation too soon. From comforting Tom's wife with his hand, wanting to sit in on the conversation and standing up to Sonny cautioning him to wait. We don't see Michael change until after the hospital scene which is far better.
You are completely right. That's art: structure. Michael is better to begin to change after the hospital. But. It is still so beautiful, all the deleted scenes I have seen. All. So complex characters. Life isn't art. No one-sidedness. Look at Sonny after this. Look even Michael or the whole movement of action after, ironically, MICHAEL of all people, commenting that Vito wouldn't play it like this. Amazing. I am realizing that they really imitated life. They managed to create life in a film. The final cut is excellent. But what an achievement. To create life inside a film...
Sonny wasn’t all rage and impulsiveness. Scenes like this shows that Sonny was smart, levelheaded and two steps ahead when in control of his emotions.
Sonny was a good wartime don
Yeah. WHEN in control of his EMOTIONS. That's right.

trong tiểu thuyết câu trả lời của Sonny khi bố già Vito hỏi về Sollozo cũng cho thấy a ta là kẻ có đầu óc, có điều anh ta sống vô kỷ luật và nóng nảy

Clemenza had the most soldiers.

What is the name of the book?!
@@alaamostafa8815you’re asking what is the name of the book that the movie “The Godfather” is based on?

Sonny knew it was Paulie
Tessio's "Hello Michael" is very sweet
So sad that most of Sonny's scenes were cut from the final print.
At 0:08; Tere Livrano, who played Terese, was beautiful.
2:06 That's a slight emergence of the New Godfather. The way Michael just changed, the focus and calculated look in his eyes.
I agree. The cold-hearted ruthless Michael starts to emerge.

That "hello Michael" makes tesio betrayal much more painful

This is based on the fact that the movie is a masterpiece, but relativelly all these scenes are very good, only not needed.

Wrong goofball. They cut out TOO MANY scenes with Sonny.
Some parts of the movie I get why they had to be deleted but than again this scene was ok!!!😅👍
They should have left this scene in. Gives us a more complete picture of who Sonny was.

This shows that Sonny is a good wartime underboss
I actually like it better without this scene, it felt like Sonny killed him off a hunch
1:56 Sonny had five fingers, but he only used three of them...Wait, is that the right movie?
Where are these higher definition clips of the deleted scenes coming from? Are there new releases of the movies with the deleted scenes included?
I have a DVD box set that I think is called the Godfather Trilogy. It has a bonus disc that includes all these deleted scenes in good quality.
