@@taylornesby8984 You said: _" “Present day processes” refers to ALL the factors explained, not just the one."_ Are you referring to the "HEAT" acronym processes? I am sorry, but those are from Dr. Hebert, not from the "Uniformitarians". According to the description Dr. Hebert gives himself, the term "present day processes" uniformitarians would argue are sufficient to explain an ice age does not have the definite article "the" and can therefore be interpreted as "any present day processes". As Dr. Hebert is subsequently arguing that a present day process, namely the eruption of Mt. Pinatubo in 1991 explains how aerosols from volcanic activity can cool the earth, he is doing exactly what he said a "uniformitarian" would do.
I only watched a bit of the beginning of this video - about volcanos. So, as a devout Christian, I just want to say a few things regarding that, but there are many more issues related to climate science confusion. Some critics of climate science, including some who identify as Christians, have raised arguments about volcanic activity and planetary cooling in the context of climate change discussions. Here are a few claims often made: 1. Volcanic CO2 Emissions: Some argue that volcanoes emit more carbon dioxide (CO2) into the atmosphere than human activities, suggesting that human impact on climate change is overstated. However, scientific research shows that human activities release significantly more CO2 than volcanic activity. On average, human activities emit over 100 times more CO2 annually than all the world’s volcanoes combined. 2. Volcanic Cooling Effects: It's noted that volcanic eruptions can lead to temporary cooling effects on the planet. When volcanoes erupt, they can eject large amounts of sulfur dioxide (SO2) and ash into the atmosphere, which can form sulfate aerosols that reflect sunlight away from Earth. This can lead to short-term cooling, but this effect is usually temporary, lasting for a few years at most. 3. Natural Climate Variability: Some skeptics might argue that natural phenomena, such as volcanic eruptions, are a part of Earth’s natural climate variability and suggest that current climate changes are also natural rather than human-induced. Although natural factors do influence climate, the dominant scientific consensus is that recent climate change is primarily driven by human activity, particularly the burning of fossil fuels and deforestation. 4. Past Climate Changes: Some point to historical climate fluctuations, with or without volcanic influences, as evidence that the current changes might not be unprecedented or harmful. Climate scientists, however, recognize that past climate changes often occurred over much longer timescales or under different external forcings than today's rapid changes driven by human influence. While these points are often discussed in critiques of climate science, the overwhelming consensus among climate scientists remains that human activities are the primary driver of recent global warming, significantly outweighing natural factors like volcanic activity. It's important for any discussion, especially those involving scientific topics and beliefs, to be objective, respectful and open to ongoing dialogue, and for Christian’s to be careful about interpreting the Bible through what often is scientific propaganda instead of accurate science. The Republican Party is captured by the fossil fuel industry, who has been determined to be the primary cause of global warming. They are highly subsidized and want to continue business as usual at our expense - including financially.See the film, “Merchants of Doubt”. @@JM24180ok, very good. I do not have any scholarly background, but I do watch a lot of this type of stuff. I'm wondering, what explanations you consider propaganda, or could be propaganda?
@ Propaganda in this case is the arguments promoted by the scientist cons hired by the fossil fuel industry to keep business as usual and the tax subsidies flowing. I am not boasting about my scholarly background, but the particular one that I was blessed with does help me to understand the issues more easily. I apologize for referring to it in a rather clumsy way. I’m on a smartphone. If a person wants to, anyone can understand these issues. There is also a theologically based scientific argument that God’s creation of the earth took thousands, not millions of years. Even then, the human induced cause of carbon cycle disruption was primarily caused by fossil fuels and deforestation, and it’s been for a relatively short time that damage began to occur. The natural systems of balance are overwhelmed. Global warming subsequently accelerated in tandem. And there is ample evidence that the fossil fuel industry has known that for decades, but they are one if the great “merchants of doubt”. See the film. They could easily invest in alternative options to accelerate and ease the energy transition, but maximum profit is the corporate monopolistic way. Moreover, fossil fuels cause much more harm to creation than climate change, including suffering, sickness, and death. Political theatre has entered both politics and the churches. The love of money is the root of all evil. Judgement is coming, including for the “Great Merchants of the Earth”.
It's such a good narrative the biblical creationists have developed. The geo-physics behind it is consistent and plausible. Bravo, folks.
@@rubiks6 but climate science is the necessary specialty, which is lacking in these stories promoted by the fossil fuel industry.
Yaay! Creationists in my neck of the woods. 🙂
Well done
Can you do a video or explanation of how a salt mine got underneath lake erie/Cleveland?
Also why the oceans aren’t full of salt like the Dead Sea…. If they are millions of years old…. Also other metals (nickel) and minerals…..
Love you guys, ICR. Thank you for helping us to understand science and the Bible.
Caused by the global flood! Amen 😊🙏
