This is only in super mario bros 3. In other games it is different. In New Super Mario Bros Wii, they are lined up from Larry and Roy to Morton and Ludwig. In bros U, the smallest are Lemmy and Morton to the largest Roy Ludwig. In NSMB 2 it's from Roy and Iggy to The Plague And Ludwig. Each game their birth order is different, so it's not clear who is bigger or smaller.

Probably the hardest boss in the game is Morton. Despite being in the second world, he is faster and more agressive. Not to mention, they nerfed Wendy and Lemmy A LOT in this game.
