Similarly, before I got a wheel I used to drift with: L1 (bumper) - Clutch L2 (trigger) - Brake R1 (bumper) - Handbrake R2 (trigger) - Gas Y (left) - Shift up B (down) - Shift down It took a little bit of practice but it actually worked really well with two fingers over the back L and R buttons! Rest of the buttons for whatever else, change camera, start car, etc.
I got an interesting setup for drifting with a controller (Dual Shock 4). I felt like throttle and steering were the inputs that required most precision so, I don't know how, but I made the game treat my controller as a wheel, then I mapped: - Left Analog Stick = Steering - Right Anaog Stick from neutral to up = accelerating (you could go for zero throtte at down and full throttle at up, but its a little harder to get used to) - R2 = Brake - L2 = Clutch (if the game treats the controller as a wheel this is aways available, but needs to be an analog button, so triggers or sticks) - R1/R2 = Shift Up / Down - Circle = Hand Brake Then I got some cheap stick rubber analog stick extenders and I feel like I have full controll of the throttle, but counter steering still pretty hard. This is what gave me thee best results. I wish I knew how I made the controller be detected as a wheel, I think it has something to do with DS4Windows.

Hi! I'm trying to drift on a controller and for the life of me I can't seem to understand how this game works. I've spent at least 30 hours testing and playing around with the settings and it really feels the cars are acting weird. I can barely get any traction to the wheels, the tires are spinning like crazy, I can hear the tires squealing when I turn left or right and I can barely turn the car, even at low speeds. Any idea what might be causing this? I've seen so many people drifting on a controller in AC and I've tried tens of different setups and nothing worked for me. It’s probably just people using traction or stability control to make it easier for themselves, but as for how drifting, and balancing a car in drift works, see this vid: ruclips.net/video/r5p-BSyVRNk/видео.html
im sure people dont care for gamepad users much anymore, but isn't there a way to simulate physics on the in game steering wheel? like where the tires in a slide actually affects the wheel even when on gamepad
If there’s a way, it’s something I’m not clued in enough to figure out. Whether it’s IRL, or on a sim wheel, the driver always has the physical capability to override whatever the wheel is doing. In order to do that in sim, the device you’re using must have a motor inside of it. Since gamepads don’t have motorized sticks, I think it’s functionally impossible to create a similar situation with todays gamepad options 🤔
@@KameTrick oh i understand that much, i mean with the virtual steering wheel in the cockpit in game. If im not giving any inputs the wheel is perfectly still in game even tho it should be moving around a bit, reacting to the tires. I was trying to simulate the whole throttle control sliding
@@radspiderjackson oooh I see what you mean. i play on xbox so basically i'm fcked
It’s a whole different game on PC, that’s all I can really say. But practice where you can and it will pay off eventually 🤘🏻
theres already too many people in online servers using a controller and ruining it for everyone else, dont encourage more to think they can get doors.. they need to either stay in single player, or go play another game. sorry, but its just how it is.
I'm using a PS4 controller and I cannot bind any controller buttons to anything, how can I make it so that I can bind controller buttons?
Maybe set your settings drop down to wheel and then try to bind it to the gamepad there…I think in my video you might see that, but it’s been quite a while since I filmed it so I don’t recall exactly
1. Open Steam
2. Games > Add non-Steam game to library
3. Add Content Manager
4. Run Content Manager through Steam
Steam should forward PS4 controller input properly to CM
